  1. Good catch on the no longer provided WM08. I missed that one. I'll miss the WM08 which was great on sunny, hot days with wide brim hats where you couldn't use headphones, but could use wired ear buds. We may have to resort to those cheap BT TX/RX units and use our old BT headphones with them. I've used them with other non-BT detectors and they do work.
  2. Looks like the 900 will be $1099 USD. https://bigboyshobbies.net/minelab-equinox-900
  3. I'd expect the 800's & 600's will be dropped when the new Nox's hit the dealers and the market gets flooded with used 800's and 600's and the “used” prices plummet.
  4. I think there are a ton of Nox fans out there who probably feel the Manticore may be a wallet buster and would give something like the new Noxs a shot. The learning curve would probably be a lot shorter than with the Manticore. So many improved features over the 800 & 600. I guess the answer to your question comes down to where they price them, Gerry. IMHO.

  6. The best idea I've heard yet! Yes, a lot of us have gone the carbon fiber shaft route, have reinforced our coil ears and that leaves the control pod leakage unsolved, although with many hours of submerged use, thankfully, my pod has remained dry. I'd sure like to go from 50 VDI segments to 100 like my AT Pro has. My 800 is doing just fine though. I'm not ready to chase rainbows as I'm very comfortable on land and in water with it.
  7. Looks like they're a fairly new product. Wired (of course), assembled in USA, 2 year warranty. I haven't found any reviews covering sound quality or construction quality yet. Here's one dealer's listing: https://www.seriousdetecting.com/product/detecting-adventure-thresher-headphones-for-minelab-equinox-600-800/ Any users out there? Any comments? My guess is the connector will be the same for the Manticore.
  8. I would definitely go with the Minelab battery from the Ft Bedford repair folks. It will have the correct wiring and connector for trouble-free replacement. It also has 3 wires in the pigtail, not the simple 2 terminal battery form.
  9. I use a set of ear buds that came with a Roku for the remote control with my WM08 module. They work great.
  10. What is the inline probe supposed to offer over the deadly pinpoint accuracy of the built-in Nox pinpointer? And for another $249.00?
  11. Bluetooth connection to headphones does not work when the control pod is under water. This is normal and not a detector problem. Get a pair of wired waterproof headphones for water detecting for both communication with the pod and so you don't ruin the non-waterproof bluetooth headphones.
  12. Ditto. Nox 800 received in Feb. 2018. Submerged in fresh & saltwater many times. No leaks, no port cracking.
  13. I haven't had that problem with my WM08. I keep it in an upper shirt pocket when I use it. Have you tried it further away from the control pod?
  14. Interesting thought, Rich. You can bet someone with a spectrum analyzer and time to kill will be looking at that. The first month or two after commercial release will be filled with reports and we'll all (in the north) have some fun winter reading and watching.
  15. Probably more important than ever to turn your cell phone off when detecting to prevent it from exploding into a massive fireball.
  16. Yeah, the shape rendering of pull tabs will help sales!😁 Coming from the ATPro to the Nox in 2018 I really missed the 0-99 VDI range. Glad Minelab is adding that. Put some distance between copper pennies and dimes, etc. I hope. Based on the latest 47 minute YouTube video I'm not seeing any reason to shelve my Nox though the leaking issue stays on my mind. The real test will be when folks start doing comparisons of the Beast, D2 and Nox head to head on land and in saltwater.
  17. Excellent write-up GB. The described technique is the one I use regularly. In pinpoint mode, I locate the center of the target (peak segments and sound) then rotate the coil in place on the ground 90 degrees and finesse the pinpoint readings to peak again. For coins, a golf ball to baseball diameter plug (depending on target depth and the size of your hand or digger) is all that is required. A word of caution, if you haven't reinforced your coil ears, be careful when rotating the 90 degrees on the ground so you don't twist so hard that you risk breaking a coil ear(s).
  18. My 800 is well past the 3 year warranty. The stock coil ears broke in April 2020 hunting dry land and with a coil ear support gizmo attached. The support gizmo didn't prevent the breakage. I would not recommend one of those 3D printed devices. I use the Nox in fresh and saltwater, often completely submerged, as well as dry land in every type of terrain. Gigmaster put up a YouTube video showing his coil ear reinforcement: I did this reinforcement using the same materials and it came out great and feels solid as a rock and is holding up perfectly.
  19. Interesting test. Results were not what I would expect.
  20. Credit to Gigmaster for his latest video identifying a good bet for the source of the control pod leaks. Very interesting. While I'm at it, Gigmaster recently did a video on how he is repairing and reinforcing the Nox coil ears. I had both coil ears fail last year and had the coil replaced under warranty. Now that my warranty expired in Feb. I figured I'd give Gig's ABS plastic reinforcing mod a try. I used 1/8” ABS (I wouldn't recommend anything thicker) and Gorilla Weld 2 part epoxy like Gig used. It went very well and is rock solid.
  21. The LEDs are very small. They light if the headphones are taking a charge and go out when the headphones are fully charged. My ML80 headphones usually charge in less than an hour.
