  1. Nice pics of that yellow rock Rob, BUT the pic we really would like to see is you standing by 2 pallets full of 6's ready to ship out to us guys waiting......😉
  2. Just to clarify my post above.... I use an electric blower, open both doors, the big exhaust fan at one door ends up creating a good draft that carries a lot of the dust out the door. Still just re-arranging dust but if you stand outside the door and sun hitting just right you can see TONS of dust leaving the shack. Raking and burning slash today so haven't tried mucking out the work rig yet.....
  3. Never even thought of that....thanks! My house is a log house and has a vaulted ceiling and those logs get real dusty especially from burning wood stove 100% to heat. Springtime I wait for a breezy day, crack all doors and windows open, put a large fan next to one door for an exhaust fan, plug in the leaf blower and blow the place down. Gotta be real careful around pictures, etc. to not blow them down but it actually works pretty good if you're careful (I got it down pretty good)...lol Vacume afterwards, a little dusting here and there and done. You can move a lot of dust but eventually you'll have to do it the hard way with a hand broom and ladder along with open doors, exhaust fan setup..... Oneguy home dust removal system! Never even though about doing my rig?...DUH!!!!! Thanks for that! Gonna hit my wood/gold rig right now (hasn't been cleaned in 3-4 yrs)...lmao!
  4. He's pretty good at stirring the bucket. He got me real good awhile back with a little joke on ME!!!! He had me all shook up until I figured it was a joke. Keep your eye on that boy, he's got a mischeivious sense of humor he does......!
  5. PS.... This nuggie started a detector gold rush at that location. I returned to that spot 2 weeks later and the location looked like a war zone. I'd told 2 people the location of the find and that's all it took. Learned another lesson after that which is why I tend to hunt alone now and try to keep quiet in the future......
  6. This 25 grammer from Montana was my first larger nugg. Found it towards the end of my hunt. I was tired and I knew the target was junk before I dug it as the Monster was banging loud. Six inches later and the "junk" was outta the hole. Target was half round, almost black, and I thought it might be half a melted large steel nut? I was pissed and almost tossed it over my shoulder onto the bank acrossed the creek. Looking at it I was thinking I've never seen a melted piece of steel and noticed some rounded "nuggety" looking edges so spit on it and rubbed it some? Saw the glint of gold come through and the happy dance was on.....!!!!! I can't tell you guys how close I came to tossing this! Lesson learned and the same applies to tiny bits... Ditto geof......!
  7. Unlike my above post and on a more serious note.... I generally start a search at a moderate pace following the old timers and/or where I think there might be some gold crumbs left or missed by the old timers. Most areas I hunt are trashy so I usually start with my main machine the Monster to get an idea how trashy the location is? If I start finding a few pieces I automatically start to slow down keeping a mental map of what I find and where. Once the area has been semi searched and I get an idea of how trashy it is and the bigger finds and number of finds starts to decrease, as they always do, then decide if it's time to take a different approach? Usually I'll hit productive areas from several different directions, different settings maybe, and if not too trashy then it's time to bust out the SDC, mark some targets and chase them down with the Monster. The slower and smaller the finds come, the slower I hunt. When things really slow down then I usually try and plan my next hunt allotting half or 3/4 of the time to finding a new productive area? Generally that is a bust so I have 1/2 or 1/4 day to return to a previous area that I've had good success but drying up and really slow down and CRAWL through area again with the "skunk buster" ( Gold Monster). Usually I can avoid the skunk in a once good area just by slowing down to pick out a few last little tiny bits? When I can't find any more itty bittys then I might even do some digging? Some areas I've hit 4-6-8 times and more. That's what has been working for me so far? With all that said.... Had my first skunk of the season yesterday! lol
  8. Good to see you finally broke down and bought a new scoop!
  9. I like that guy.... Reminds me of Capt. Hercules kinda. That Capt. Hercules cracks me up, wonder if he's still doing videos?
  10. Dug a lot of silver and old coins over the years and enjoyed the hell outta it! It got kinda routine after so many years and I just got really tired of having to deal with any form of the public (asking permissions, people flipping you off, calling the cops, claiming they own curb strips, dogs barking, people interrupting asking questions, needles in the parks, etc. etc.). Needed to avoid the crowds so started after the gold. All I can say is finding something really rare, one-of-a-kind, that takes a lot more effort on your part is much more rewarding....to me anyways? Out in the brush all by yourself 99% of the time...priceless (a little gold helps also)..... Sorry to avoid the question but for me it's not about dollar value.... it's about sanity.
  11. That's what I found in my shorts last season when I found a 3.55ozt nuggie.......
  12. Got ya beat.... Got 5 itty bitties today with the smallest being .011g but I was cheating by using the Monster. SDC got nothing for me today...... Main thing is you avoided the skunk!!!!!
  13. I'm heading out here shortly but I'll be lugging the SDC/Monster. Has the 6000 hit the dealers yet or did you get yours thru some V.I.P. thingy? These vids coming out look pretty impressive so far. Today I'll be cleaning up some re-re-hunts as best I can to prep them for the "test" when the 6 arrives...... Have fun today!!!!
  14. That's some beautiful stuff....!
  15. Out detecting the other day and had a signal on the Monster that sounded like your typical hot rock but when I dug the hot rock out it didn't look like my typical hot rocks in this area? So I took the time to flip the rock over and ran the coil over the other side of the rock and the Monster said GOLD! So after some scraping I see nothing and I'm too busy hunting and throw the rock in my pouch to bust it open later at home. Needed to go into my pouch for something tonight and found the rock I'd already forgot about and scraped the piss outta it and saw nothing, ran coil over scrapings and the rock and still a gold signal but no sight of gold? Took rock inside and took the steel wool to it and finally saw the glint of a little gold so proceeded scrubbing cautiously and found the little flake. This guy almost got away. Moral of the story...if it sounds like gold you might want to pack it home for a THOROUGH check.....
  16. Thanks a bunch guys!!!!! Got a little excited on the first 3 hunts and hope the pics helped motivate somebody? Three hunts and a mere 3 grams but any gold is good gold and the fun factor remains the same for myself, big or small? These will probably be the last pics I post until season ends around Thanksgiving(?). Hopefully the rest of the season produces but I'll take whatever it gives up and post the results at the end..... Thanks again and good luck out there!!!!!!
  17. Did some crack scratchin today.......all with the Monster. Gonna take a few thousand of these to pay for that 6000....lol
  18. No extra or special skills on my part, just keep swinging. Persistence, persistence, persistence, some patience, some luck, and eventually a bigger nugg will turn up. The old boys got most of em but not all of them. Usually a few crumbs but every once in a great while the whole cookie!!!!! Almost got skunked today. Found a spot on my first hunt that gave up 3 or 4 of those bits (in the pic) and figured I'd investigate further today? 4 hrs later at the spot turned up zippo so with only an hr hunt time left I went to another spot that seems to always kick out one more bit and luckily I popped out 2 pieces for 1.6g and salvaged the hunt...... Here's the 1.5er that salvaged the hunt today. Thanks everyone for the comments and good luck out there!!!!!!
  19. Pierce, Weippe, Riggins, Clearwater River, etc. Monster will get em if you do a little digging.
  20. "I did the mash....I did the M-O-N-S-T-E-R mash"...... (didn't even fire up the poor old SDC....YET). Raining today unfortunately.....
  21. FINALLY got out on first hunt of the season! Snow capped mountains, plenty of sun, and the temps were cool enough the bugs weren't out yet. The take isn't much (.980g) but FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!
  22. I'm no expert or tector tester but my plan is to hit a few spots I've already hunted multiple times with both the Monster and the SDC to the best of my abilities? That should tell me, right outta the gate, if I get some I've missed before? I've banked my pre-order on more depth than the SDC and the Monster....depth being the main reason. Of course a very close second reason is ergonomics, external speaker, wireless, auto functions, etc. etc. HATED the 5000 because of all the damned cords, harnesses, bungee, etc. getting hung up in the brush, not to mention how many seasons would it take me to use all the different timings/settings efficiently? Got VERY spoiled using the Monster....lol
