  1. The story on the battery... The old cougar is apparently getting dementia, and few other issues...lol Being a creature of habit at the end of the digging day once I come off the hill I stop and pour a big cup of coffee. By the time I get home the cup is empty and before I get out of the PU my gold vile, cigarette case, lighter, and battery from the Monster go into the cup then head into the shack. This time I didn't finish all the coffee and dementia me soaked that battery in half a cup of coffee and ruined it. One of the MANY little things I'm noticing about getting old. Used to be a time where you had to get up real early in the morning to trick the old cougar...not any more...... That's the straight poop, raining today all day (we need it), so I'll only lose a couple days. Thanks once again and appreciate the fast action Gerry....
  2. JMO .... I look at physical gold as a long term thing to hedge and preserve wealth. Really don't pay much attention to manipulated short term price fluctuations, etc. I do watch the "price" as it generally shows me how worthless my "backed by faith" paper dollars really are. But like Steve said, in a real pinch you can't eat the stuff...lol just my thoughts....
  3. Lanny..... I noticed on my AA pack that the contacts on the pack were same place as battery but just a little different? I'm thinking that may be the reason the AA pack didn't fit quite right? If you do try yours check the pack contacts and compare to the battery contacts? Hope you're killing the au up there.....
  4. All I can say is my bullion cost average is $1160/ozt. The gold has done exactly what it's expected to do over time...inflation hedge and preservation of wealth. Also a comment on what Clay Diggins posted on dealers paying a premium OVER spot, that's also what I saw last I checked. I buy Canadian Maple Leafs from Provident Metals and see that most all the 1ozt coins from most the sources are currently out of stock? Also sometimes buy from Golden State Mint and their supply is down, and they mint the stuff! Been 4-5 weeks since I checked but it appears more demand than supply as far as us retail buyers...????
  5. Fiat will work until it quits working... and it will. When...who knows?
  6. agreed... if things get REAL ugly what's important will be guns, ammo, firewood and food.
  7. I dug out my AA holder and loaded it up and it just didn't quite fit "right" and the cam-lock battery door didn't want to seat just right? Double checked everything a few times it just didn't fit quite right? Machine would turn on then quit. Anyways...new batt on the way. Lost without my Monster, should be back in biz Fri. or Sat.
  8. Debated on posting the following but it's the truth so here goes. Long story but I managed to ruin the battery on my Monster (my fault) and need one ASAP! So I called Gerry and left a message on the answering machine. Immediately after the call I also shoot an email stating the same. Maybe 10-15min after I shot the email the phone rings and some guy says "it's on it's way out tomorrow". So then I know it's Gerry...lol Anyways...just a little pump and with out a doubt that is the fastest service/transaction I've EVER gotten anywhere, no shit!. So thanks Gerry, appreciate the super fast service.....
  9. Lanny is Canuk.... He mines over in BC and I'm sure he'll be able to add to the subject if/when he reads the post...????
  10. pesky little bastard pellets.... sounds familiar lol. Hatters teeny weeny nuggies are huge compared to what I've been digging all season. My pesky little bastard nuggets are about the size of Simons' pesky little bastard pellets! LMAO! Nice gold Hatter......
  11. pesky little bastard pellets...OUCH! Tuff sleddin....
  12. On my post above about depth I just wanted to add that on the 13" specimen I really can't remember which coil I had on...sorry
  13. Hey guys/gals..... Question regarding the SDC depth. When I added the Coiltek 5 x 10... I did a half-assed air test first using the Coiltek and the stock 8". I did it with the machine sitting on my deck about 3-4' off the ground with the coils hanging over the edge. Tried the SDC set on 4 with both coils and depth seemed the same. The nuggs I used were 3.55ozt., 25 gram, and 12 gram. The best I could get on the 3.5 ozt. was 11-12".... the others a little less. After I got done with the half-assed test I grabbed the Monster with 5" coil and actually got about half inch more depth on the 3.5 ozt.... The question would be what kind of depth have you folks been getting from your SDC? Now that I think about it, I do remember digging the 25gram specimen (pic) at a measured 13". That's the only real-world results I can provide on the SDC depth? If you have anything to add about your depth results I'd love to hear them....THANX!!!
  14. Mine seems happy on 3 and like Gcatcher already mentioned one tuff mutha despite being clunky. SDC also doesn't give me little "fits" like that 6 did....smooth and very stable all day long in my area....jmo
  15. I added the 5 x 10 and if you do that the machine won't fold up. IMO...adding the 5 x 10 was an improvement for my situations, depth the same best I can tell doing air test crap. The ill handling sdc seems just a tad better handling especially in the brush, tight spots, etc. Coiltek might be a tad more sensitive on the edges? My opinion only and glad I made the switch....
  16. Post away Lanny!!!! Hope you are well up there? We actually made it smoke/fire free locally until Sept hit then it all changed. Nothing too close now except the smoke, supposed to cool down in a few days. Fingers crossed...... Take care bud.....
  17. Dayum.....from a city park. Guess gold really is "where you find it".....
  18. VERY well said..... imo a full time gig might turn a fun hobby into a repetitious job? Even as a fun hobby for myself going out 2-3 times/wk has tendency to sometimes turn into a grind? I always look forward to the end of the season when snow flies...then come spring I'm all excited to get back out there fresh and do it again?
  19. 10-15hrs./week. semi-sidelined now with physical crap going on....
  20. I "KNEW" the one nugget thing wouldn't last long...LMAO! Fire away with anything and everything you got...we gotta slow down these Aussies, if that's even possible? Like mentioned above somewhere, big or small we love em all and all of them are unique. Keep em coming.....and thanx.
  21. Tell Andy congrats.... Oh yeah, tell him I want my 6 back! Nice nuggie....
  22. Phrunt, just a thought.... with all these newer lighter, etc. machines showing up you just might be able to score a low priced SDC over there? Good on small stuff and seems to handle hot rocks really well, at least in my area? Nice smooth threshold, folds up, built like a battleship...handles like one too, actually more like an aircraft carrier...lol
  23. impressive stuff everybody....thanks! keep em coming!
  24. without a doubt...pretty cool nugg! Liberty Wa. has some unique looking gold I've thought about hitting as it isn't that far away from me? Problem is I'd most likely waste much time by going in "blind".....
