  1. I would rather eat 1515art's nails than Lucky's sushi. If God had meant for us to eat raw fish he wouldn't have created barbeques. If god had not intended for detectorists to dig nails (for penance) he wouldn't have scattered them through out his creation.
  2. Hey Fred!! There are 2 Norms. I'm the good looking one and I whine all the time. The other one has looks that scare young children but he is a much nicer guy. But we both like chile verde so I guess your kind of obligated to make a trip up here.
  3. Gldhnd. I would kindly thank you to refrain from divulging my closely kept secrets. I have been using one for about 10 years and have actually just about worn it too short.
  4. Dowsing rods may be the best alternative to owning several detectors. There just isn't one detector that will do it all- yet. Technology is advancing much faster than my brain.
  5. Lucky and El D have the best responses int this thread I.MO.
  6. Just the usual. but you can plainly see the MY sensitivity setting is too high.
  7. Ngt65 YOU ARE DOOMED!!! You now must learn to cope with the disease.
  8. I also have to agree with JP. If You are truly serious about detecting gold, The best Minelab That you can afford is pretty much a necessity. There simply isn't any detector with better technology. BUT I"M STILL MIFFED ABOUT the short arm strap, the crummy headphones with a short cord, the lack of spares, the clumsy portability, the cheap soft plastic screen, the poorly designed (cheap) clip on the wireless module, the chinsy plastic foot, the distracting drum sound of the coil cover, and to top it all off I HAD TO PRINT MY OWN DANGED INSTRUCTION BOOK! And in addition to all of that, my toast was one shade to dark this morning.
  9. I dunno. Technical charting doesn't mean as much in such a highly manipulated market. A key prop for this wobbly house of cards called the "economy" is to try to maintain "good faith and credit" of the American dollar. That won't happen if gold looks like a better bet than the dollar. That being said, This administration has P.O.ed enough of the rest of the world and ruined a lot of the respect (earned or forced) we once had as a nation, things could (will?) change suddenly- and it won't be pretty. Gold is the only physical possession that I know of that, in all of history, has never become suddenly totally worthless. But of course that could happen. "Store up your treasures in heaven"
  10. Rated pg 35 for silliness. My new detecting boots arrived on UPS. Boy will my wife be impressed! Oh No- my wife! she's going to want to know how I paid for them. so I called up a good buddy who said anytime I needed extra work to let him know (he pumps septic tanks) We went out to an overflowed tank surrounded by mud of the worst kind and I dug up the lids for him. He paid me about what the boots cost. When I got home I took of my rubber boots and put on my new detecting boots and went into the house. Hi honey I'm home. notice anything new? I noticed your covered with mud and smell like s---.Take those clothes off there on the porch and go take a shower before your dinner gets cold. SHE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE MY NEW BOOTS! So I made a plan. I took off ALL my clothes and put my new boots back on and went back in the house. Well, honey, now do you notice anything? I noticed your "thing" hanging down like always. That made me angry! Well, I said, Perhaps my "thing" is looking at my new detecting boots! Well, she said, Perhaps you should of bought a hat.
  11. DR With footwear like that you must be gion' dancin' with a perty girl!
  12. Gads! a bunch of louts that need to get out detecting. AND SOON!
  13. Yumpin' yiminies!! SS . I didn't know you was a POE8. There sits Sourdough Scott in poverty whining home writing poetry when he should be out mining. AND ONE FOR SWIFTY. Nails nails it never fails all my good targets turn out to be nails. There's nails to hammer and nails to bend nails to barrow and nails to lend nails nails it never fails all my good targets turn out to be nails another good target! The same sad tale? I dug it up and it's an old rusty---- Nugget.
  14. I have to agree with Steve H. the Z will make you think your over something real good, especially in a deep bedrock crevice, and it turns out to be a couple of dollars worth. I'm not a large nugget snob (well- maybe a little bit) but I'm beginning to think the Z's amazing ability with tiny gold is costing me time that would be better spent covering more acreage. Leave it to me to complain about finding gold. Nvc. I have that recipe except mine requires a goodly quantity of alcohol- the crow AND the rock are discarded.
  15. Gee wiz El D you, of all people know how clumsy I am with these damned computer things! It takes me about an hour to get a photo out of my phone and posted. Need a refresher course from ya. I still owe Deathray a better photo of my buckle find.
  16. I have been very skeptical of the depth performance of the 7000 in general and certainly of the "up to" 40%. I have pretty much kept my opinion on this off of this forum so as not to fuffle any reathers. Had a mining partner dig out 2dwt @ 18". I dug out 8ozt (5.5ozt net) @ 26" + pine needles and duff. I need a good recipe for boiled crow.
  17. You guys are guunna ruin my bad reputation. Thanks.
  18. What a hoot! Strick was so afraid of bears he brought a professional bear hunter and pure bred, vicious, bear hound with him. So let's do some math. Five nuggets in about an hour and he intends to spend 4 days there. That's 96 hours X 5 = 480 nuggets! If he adds Lisa to the mix that's several times 480. Those claims will be shot. S.Scott- We need to do something - Fast.
  19. Lucky- I detect in too much ugly country to use a bungee I detect left handed. If you want to argue the point, since owning a Z, I have developed a mean left hook.
  20. I took the wife detecting just one time. Went in her nice air conditioned truck and not my smokey, leaky, squeaky Jeep. Went to a spot that is mostly flat with no brush (very rare in this area) and wild flowers freshly in bloom. I Dug out 13 nuggets for 1.25 ozt. She thinks that was a normal day of prospecting. Now when I come home with a dozen tiny specks found with the Z - she thinks I'm out goofing off. But of course, mostly I am.
  21. What's up with this Nvic???!!!! I'm confused. Isn't every prospecting trip SUPPOSED to be a grand adventure with hairsbreadth escapes, near misses, costly mistakes and life threatening situations? I must be doing something wrong. Or maybe i really am a fool. Thanks for the fun story.
  22. It will sure make those itsy bitsy teeny weeny nuggets stand out when you have to drop them on your coil to find them.
  23. Norvic- I'm not much of a "techie" but a laptop with maps, satellite photos, GPS, and theodolite would tempt me to become one.
  24. Don't give up on the Extreme. You may have to spring for a selection of coils to get the most out of it but that would be slightly cheaper than a 7000. I have heard more regrets from people that have parted with an extreme than any other detector.
