  1. I friend of mine found this rock. He seems to think it has some value. On his monster 1000, and Equinox 800 it reads as having some gold in it, or it at least has some non-ferious properties to it. It just looks like lava rock to me. It is very light for it size, less than a few ounces. It was found a little west of Phoenix, Arizona. Any ideas?

Why do you think the specimens look black, were they iron oxide covered or is that a photo issue? Cleaned up nicely though, good work.

I am not sure. It’s the only one like this I have ever found in that area. It appears to be in really iron stained quarts. No photo issue. When I first found it, I was thinking it was a chunk of lead, then I seen a little glint of gold, or so I thought. I took out my water bottle and washed it off a little, and it started to reveil more of the gold.

In the USA, I just filled out Detector Center’s online form on Wednesday night for a repair ticket, described what I wanted done and had a reply from them and a repair ticket number within 12 hours. Already mailed mine to them on the next day………couldn’t have been easier even with me being temporarily handicapped.

I agree, Minelab could have at least done what Nokta did with the recent Legend speaker issue. Nokta recognized that Legend speakers were failing, they let their customers know that they were sourcing replacement speakers from a different manufacturer and were retrofitting available stock, then they let their customers know when there were replacements available at their countries service centers. They got out in front of it publicly very quickly. So, Minelab may have had inductor sourcing issues too and needed to retrofit existing stock and then supply enough parts to their worldwide service network. For US dealers to know nothing until this information hit the forums and other social media is a joke.

Anyway, I expect I will get a email from Detector Center later next week letting me know to lookout for a return package.

Mine has been in their shop since Monday morning and they have not touched it yet.

  4. Well I  emailed the Dectector Center today asking how long might the repairs take. This is their response.

“Unfortunately, our repair technicians are experiencing a higher than normal volume of repairs at this time.  They take much care in giving the proper attention to each machine that comes in for repair.
After diagnosing the problem, you’ll be receiving a call from one of our technicians.

I apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience.”

Just got mine back yesterday, It was only less than a week turnaround. Did you have other things to turn in such as Coils? I only sent the control box.

I haven’t been able to test it yet, they did an audio update which took them about an hour labor. They were pretty good about providing notes of what they did in the receipt.

Rob was right though, call them if you have any questions about yours.

I sent the coil also, as I think I may have a bad one. They received it Monday morning the 31st. I hate being without it! I hope it is a short turn around.
