  1. I finally got out and found some nuggets to feed the hunger. My buddy had already found 11 or 12 and I was getting skunked and feeling desperate to find any gold so I moved to a spot I had pulled 4 nuggets out in May and within 5 min found the first. Then in a couple minutes found the second, third and fourth. I moved up a couple feet on a tailings slope and kept banging them out. Ten all total on sat within 1 1/2 - 2 hour span from first to the last. I finally got my wife to pick up my detector and give it her first ever try detecting for gold. Within 5 minutes she found her first tiny nugget. I asked her how did that feel finding it. She replied fun, I'm ready to find my second nugget. The tiny nugget in the hand is my wifes. My ten nuggets totaled 1.9 grams. These nuggets were found using the new headphones for the Gold monster by Detector Pro that i am field testing. I would highly recommend getting a pair from Detector Pro.

    Aftermarket Coils For Gm1000??

Thats great news. I have never heard of mars coils, but oh well. If they make it and it works very well and has good depth then ok. I am interested in a larger coil for the monster than the 6x10. Something like a 15" with a high quality coil cable like what is on coilteks coils.

    What Is This Gold Detector?

I had the infinitum and it started to act erratic after a year. Garrett used inferior wire cable, speaker wire to be exact and they pulled it thru cheap plastic housing. I sold it and bought the Xterra 705. As for the ATX I ran into a guy out gold detecting who had one and he let me do a quick test with it and in my opinion it is a repackaged infinium. Garrett seems to have done that a lot with their detectors since 1980. The gypsies should have stayed with Minelab. I would be willing to bet they end up with less gold than the previous season. I bet Garrett was a little pissed that everyone was using Minelab and they cut a deal with the gypsies, payed them off to use their atx.

New Gold Monster Headphones Coming Out

I would rather purchase a new good set of phones for the monster than Jimmy rig an adapter that sticks out too far and can end up causing stress at the plug opening and have to stick shims under it and strap it down to secure it. It is unfortunate Minelab paired such an awful set of phones with such an amazing detector. To replace the set that came with it from Koss itself costs only $5.00. So hats off to Detector Pro for coming to the rescue and producing high quality phones to compliment this awsome detector. Thanks Detector Pro!

New Gold Monster Headphones Coming Out

The jack for the nox will be slightly different.
  7. I had talked with Detector Pro on the issue of headphones for the Gold Monster 1000 and I said they would do well on sales if someone would come out with a good after market headphones. Well they thought about it and called me back informing me that they are answering the call to produce a high quality headphones for the Monster that will eliminate the external speaker sound from coming thru. These headphones are the same as the Gray Ghost headphones but were made specifically for the Gold Monster. They are the Gold Series and there will be a special headphones coming out for the Exuinox as well. The cord is a pigtail style with an 1/8" jack that shuts off the external speaker. The sound is sharp and crisp with no distortion. The pigtail cord is 6" longer than the Gray Ghost headphones and I assure you there will be no more kneeling on the cord as we all have had to deal with until we just use the Monster without headphones. I feel these headphones are very comfortable and block out external noises very well and they have a volume control on the side as well. I have the proto type as I have been asked to field test these wonderful headphones by DetectorPro.I will let everyone know when they will be available for purchase.

Rusty these are not anywhere close to my first nuggets.

    Weekend Finds With Gm1000.....

So here is the gold I got last weekend after an acid bath. I think they could use a second bath as I think the acid tends to reach a maximum degree of cleaning when it turns orange. These were in acid for a couple days.

    Weekend Finds With Gm1000.....

Lunk, it was nice meeting you and Steve as well. After you left and I ate dinner I got out my torch and hydro shocked those rocks to get the gold out. Something to do back at camp. I was too wiped out to want to go detecting any more sat evening. I will be glad when my other spots open up from the snow load. If you are up for a trip to Avon let me know. Should be another two or three weeks. That will give me time to replace my entire suspension on my tacoma.

    Weekend Finds With Gm1000.....

Your welcome . Hopefully we will pass over some bigger pieces of gold than the little ones we got. My ten pieces of gold only came to 16 grains. They are now sitting in acid.

    Mineralization

If you go with the 705 you most definitely need to get the 6" DD HF coil and the 15" DD HF these two coils are absolutely essential for gold nuggets. The Xterra705 is very good for tailing piles with the 15 coil. I will be using my 705 this weekend on tailing piles from a dredge and some piles on a hydraulic dig. I will grid off a section at a time with surveyors twine to make sure I cover the ground thoroughly with sensitivity reduced to where it is quiet with no ground chatter. I want to be able to hear the faintest real target signal. After this is complete I will research the area with the sensitivity set to max of 30 for the depth and listen for the very distinct target signals through the chatter. These signals should be always repeatable no matter which direction you swing the coil over them.

Gold Monster 1000 is very hard to beat. Go onto minelab and check it out. If you are former military you will get a discount with proof of service.

    1st Detected Noogie....!!!!!

That's a great first nugget Scott. A big congrats to you. The first one is always the hardest to find. You will see all the rest will be easier to find and when you start finding them, your old methods of finding gold will most definitely be a thing of the past. Thanks for letting me know that Thompson Pass is open now.
