  1. I bought the coil and lower shaft at the same time and then ordered a middle shaft from Minelab Detector Center in PA for $19.86 + $10 shipping in March 2019.
  2. I went with both lower & middle shafts. Since I store the detector with the top shaft separated from the middle one it makes it easy to pick which one I will be using or to switch to another one.
  3. I've used one as a backup option to my Whites digger. It seems to work fairly well an does have a narrower profile but maintains good depth. I don't think it is as sturdy as the White's but I haven't had an problems with it. Also the price was reasonable.
  4. I coated the bottom 4 inches of mine with PLASTI DIP, it is used to coat tool handles. It has held up very well against abrasion.
  5. This could turn into a life time project. The tab with writing says Schlitz and you are right the one at the bottom is 1962 - 1965 vintage. I added a better photo for reference.
  6. After I started researching pull tabs I decided to create a display page with a timeline key. A interesting project at the time.
  7. I would agree with you. I bought the 6" coil and have used it a few times. It works well especially in tight areas, but the 11" does seem to work very well where I hunt. I can cover more ground in the same amount of time.
  8. I found another image that looks like a good match (bottom image) also appears to be a tapered octogonal barrel. I have included the description from the original Pinterest site for the bottom pistol shown. B) Made circa 1870s-1880s. Standard markings and features, with "F.A. Ware Boston" inscribed on the backstrap, matching numbers and smooth bird's head grips. BBL: 2 1/4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 38 RF Finish: nickel Grips: walnut Maybe this will get you closer to identification. Good luck.
  9. Gerry, Excellent idea. I have added my responses to yours and kac's questions from the previous post you mentioned. Gerry, Well that was interesting. The TRX would respond intermittently about an 1/8" from tip at highest setting. The F-pulse did not pick it up at all. I then brought out the EQ800 and could not get a good signal in any setting (air test) sensitivity was only at 10 due to being inside the house (did do noise cancel). I was using the wife's stud earring only, no backing piece. Kac, I tried the tip and along the sides of the F pulse with no luck. I did try it on other gold earrings & rings and got good results? I also have a Gold Digger Land or Sea model which also did not register. Maybe it has stainless steel as a base metal? In normal usage the TRX gives me good depth and accuracy. Update: I did some more experimenting with the EQ800. I moved to another room bumped the sensitivity up to 15 and it would detect the original stud in Park 2, Gold 1 & best signal in Gold 2 mode.

  12. Gerry, Since you brought it up, which pinpointer do you recommend? I currently use a Whites TRX & Fisher F-pulse. I always respect your comments & appreciate your helpful knowledge based responses. Thanks!
  13. A unique & interesting find. A case of right place at the right time. It looks like a boot or vest pocket gun to me. I uploaded a couple of similar images. Great find.
  14. 2019 was a good year for me. I was able to retire in June and spend more time detecting. I also obtained permission to a 1800's private home site. My favorite 3 coins were a 1890 "V" nickel ( one of four, 1892, 1904 & 1910 also) a 1891 Indian Head Penny and a 1914 Buffalo Head Nickel.
  15. Very nice. I really like finding nickels. I found my first ever V nickels this summer. Congratulations.
  16. Joe, It looks like we're covering the gamut. Chase, I'm not on FB, so if you want to post it that would be great.
  17. Steve, That covers a lot of ground. This may remain a mystery and will always be interesting. Thanks again for your efforts.
  18. Kac, You're guess is as good as any at this time. I was leaning towards military because of the two eagle heads st the top. Also it measures 2.25" tall. Thanks for your input.
  19. Steve, Thanks for looking. I'm still researching.
  20. I found this medal in a private 1800's yard and thought it was a military medal but could not locate anything that matched. It appears to be copper with material that was apparently inlaid on the front. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for all the information, I really appreciate it. I like to gather as much information and history on the things I find. My wife has been doing family ancestry research and discovered she is part Irish. She is going to get the ring, (it just happens to fit).
  22. I received my E800 on 1/15/18 but only have a few hours on it. Today I found a ring marked WH 825 (82.5% silver I am presuming). If anyone has any information or seen a similar ring I would appreciate the feedback. I also found 2 quarters, 5 dimes & 14 pennies, all clad. I'm definitely happy so far with the Equinox. I was using Park 1 and all preset settings. I have attached 3 photos of the ring.
