  1. I would not bend mine, but an old trick with copper tubing is to fill the tube with sandbox sand and then bend-keeps the metal from creasing. I’m not sure if this works with aluminum. Try at your own risk!
  2. 1st silver with my Equinox600! I had a few minutes so I hit a curb strip dating to late 1880’s+. I have detected here several times and have found some clad, a 1916 Barber dime and a TON of Aluminum screw caps—really difficult hunting. Today I hit it for the first time since getting a little more time on the nox. Park1, 23 sensitivity, 50 tones, ground balanced and noise cancelled. I found a 1941D merc at 7-8 inches. At 5 inches, there was a flattened aluminum cap directly above it and a large nail was just below the dime. Detector was giving a solid 23 with a quick 31 that just kept ringing from all angles. It just sounded “right?” A few feet later I found a 1951 wheatie. This is fun! Anyway, here it is:
  3. I can confirm that the SoundPEATS “upgraded Q12 plus” do indeed connect with LL - I get the + on my NOX600. They are quite adequate in volume for me, in fact I have had to turn down the volume. These are the ones I ordered and received last week: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KLWS43V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Happy hunting, Dave
  4. Damn! That means cherry pick and let the nickels lie in those curb strips. The engineer that comes up with the formula will gain sainthood!
  5. I spent a couple of hours on curb strips in my area that date back to the late 1890’s. The houses are long gone, but the squared off curbs and sidewalks are still there. I can’t get a shovel down without hitting broken glass. I got fooled by more aluminum screw caps from cheap wine and liquor pints. I’ve read and have a decent grasp on wiggle back giving an iron grunt on crown caps but is there anything for these stupid aluminum ones?
  6. No luck finding the ring. We gridded the areas 2 times with 2 machines running wide open. That has to be the cleanest field I’ve detected on-hardly any iron, and just a few pennies. (It is very new) Either someone already found it, the lawn mower threw it, or she dropped it in another state! Thanks for the help, Dave
  7. Is there any reason not to leave the EQX on the charger after it’s topped off? I have had devices in the past that could overcharge but I have not found any warnings about extended charging. I know power spikes, lightning, etc. but are there any known issues to the charging circuit/battery if I forget and leave it plugged in for a weekend?
  8. Thanks for replying. There sure is a lot to soak in and wrap my brain around! The options and small changes available start to meld together and can become quite confusing. I think I just need a lot more time running stock.
  9. Is there a reason to not leave tracking ground balance on for park or field modes? I have read the recommended settings from the manual and can’t figure out why it’s only recommended for gold and beach2.
  10. The more I think about it, that’s probably what I’ll do, but still bring the EQX in case I do find it and have time to play.
  11. A friend of mine lost her gold ring playing softball. It was a family heirloom and she thinks it flew off when she threw a softball. We are sitting 2 weeks since the loss and the field has limited access so it’s unlikely that anyone has detected since the loss. We have a general idea of where on the field it was lost. I have a 600 and have only used it a few times in my yard. Are there any recommendations as to which program to run and tweaks that will allow me to cover the field quicker and hone in on a woman’s gold engagement-style ring? I also have a Fisher f2 and f44 with a lot of hours. So I guess the other question is would I be better off falling back on my f44? (But the Equinox is just so fun!) Thanks in advance, Dave
  12. Nope. Still throttled by what the device will pull. Not sure for EQX, but iPhone is around 2.7amps max if I remember correctly. The extra amperage just means it will charge at max speed of the devices connected.
  13. I used https://usadetectors.com near Houston. I found him from the Minelab website. John has his cell number on the site. He asks for and will respond to texts. Great transaction, military discount, free shipping, extras. Ordered EQX600 on Friday, got it Tuesday.
  14. I’m using a 20w Anker charger. It has 2 ports. Not available any more but it has been replaced with a 24w for $11: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072HHW3GK/ref=psdc_12557637011_t1_B00LFL2JB6?th=1 i also have one of the Anker cigarette adapters that gives 3amp per port but I have not had a need/chance to test the EQX with it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G5B069C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I don’t see any reason it would not work, we use It to charge an iPad Pro and a MacBook Pro. It’s a little pricey ($30) but it’s built like a tank, has USBc and steady, clean power. They do have less expensive models without USBc.
  15. I’m using $25 TaoTronics earbuds. Silly comfortable, sweat proof, 6 hours on full charge, AptX, no LL. I don’t notice a lag with these. If they could pair to phone at the same time, they would be perfect for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZYX6Y1T/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  16. I rearranged the chart and used the same values. I laminated it and put it in my finds pouch. I found the numbers to be mostly correct in my front yard. I can’t exactly remember which were off for me but they were all within 1. No silver yet to report on. I’ve pulled one 1914 dime out of my yard in the past but none yesterday. It was nice to check the sheet and guess what I would pull out of the ground. I need more time but in 45 minutes I pulled 3 quarters, 2 dimes, 1 nickel, 3 Lincoln Cu, 3 Lincoln Zn, 1 oval-smooth glass “stone” set like a jewel and a smooth rusted chunk of iron at 11” that rang a solid 26 from all angles. I have been over my small front yard more times than I can count and the clad I found has been there a while—pretty impressive I ran Park 1 and Park 2 factory settings + noise cancel. Park 2 was really chatty, it took a while to get used to all the noise. My rearranged chart: eqx vdi.xlsx
  17. Thanks for posting. You helped me make a custom formatted cheat sheet with 1/2 the work!
  18. Woohoo! I ordered from a small dealer (Minelab authorized) on Friday, March 2 and my 600 came yesterday! She should be charged and ready to tear up my front yard this afternoon. Now off to the manual and rereading of these posts to figure this out.....
  19. Thank you for saving me a bunch of money! After reading the discussions, I was still not able to decide 600 vs 800. Your blog post gave me the info I needed. Now I wait for my 600 to come in. I took the advice of this forum and called a smaller, authorized dealer. I am #1 on wait list. I’m guessing I’ll see a slight improvement over my f2 and f44! Dave
