I thought it would be cool to encourage folks to share their finds big or small. It seems most only post their finds when it’s a gold ring or old silver but most days for me look like this. Today I got out to my ranch permission and after 2 hours I came away with these keepers on the Deus. The war nickel is a 43, 10 yen coin, a 1950 cinco centavo, a Pisces medallion, an old ring of unknown origin and 4 wheats. 

Unfortunately there will be bad units out of all the ones produced. Look at how many brand new cars need service two weeks off the showroom floor. I hope yours is just a freak thing that resolves itself as TNS has prescribed.

That would be the irony of all ironies. Charging a customer restocking fees for an item that isn't in stock, has never been in stock nor is expected to be in stock anytime soon. That's like buying a lottery ticket for a dollar and then having to pay the store back $50 for losing. 

I'm on it now and the nox is still nowhere to be seen. That being said it'll likely be a daily thing of checking first thing in the morning. 

I'm number 3 so I'm crossing all extremities to ensure maximum power. 

Best gold ring was an 18k womens cocktail with 3 large diamonds. I don't remember the weight but then I didn't get to hold it long because it looked better on my wife's finger then in my hand

My dealer texted me this morning and said he was to expect another shipment getting to him by Monday. If he gets the number he was told mine will be in the bunch and hopefully to me by next weekend.

I just went to the Cabelas site and tried to find the Equinox and it wasn't listed. I searched for it under "equinox", "minelab", and finally "minelab equinox." They listed 7 detectors from Minelab but none were the EQ. This to me strengthens the idea that when it appears again is when there is a new shipment.  

Having been a part of many forums over the years I have read countless posts from terry and watched him argue (politely and passionately) about his Tesoro's. Whenever anyone would ask a question about a beach detector Terry wasn't usually far behind touting his Tesoro Sand Shark. To see him write about the Equinox in this way is really astonishing. 

Also it's posts like this that just kill me a little bit on the inside as I wait patiently hoping my position at #3 now with my dealer(was #5 he got 2) will result in me being a part of the second wave. 

Many gold rings. I've found a bunch of silver coins over the years, spanish reales etc., but the best has always been gold rings. I'm getting the nox because I believe it'll be the tool in my tookit to get that done. 

Ya you don't look to good. Probably a good idea to take it easy tomorrow. The nox flu is a particularly bad strain. Once infected some people have been reported missing. Take care.

Where's the snow? I thought Idaho had snow this time of year. 

That park looks like a great place to start your equinox career.

I dug a Miller beer twist cap yesterday at a depth just beyond the length of my MI6 pinpointer. I thought it was surely going to be a standing liberty quarter at that depth. It made no sense at that depth as i've found a silver dimes in that same park at 4". It's another reason why i dig almost everything. 

Thats awesome Steve. I can't wait to see what you uncover. I'd definitely be taking the day off tomorrow in preparation to hunt.

Well capitalism isn't a bad thing and I bet you could make a nice profit by reselling it via here in the classifieds or ebay. 

This is the main issue here, speculation. I'm number 5 on my dealers list and he got two so now I'm 3 behind. Unfortunately ML hasn't told him a thing when shipment number 2 is coming or what to expect. All we've heard is speculation coming from everyone else except Minelab who knows exactly what is happening. If every dealer got between 1 or 2 and KCo got 6 then the picture of the pallets of Nox's should have pretty much been all that ML had to go. I love ML's products but this is not the way to endear anyone new to the party. 

I'm actually envious of you. I live in Southern California where my taxes have continued to outpace inflation. We took a trip two years ago to Amelia Island and i fell in love with it there. We day tripped to st. Augustine as well. It was summer and hot but to me it was perfect. My wife hated it though due to the same weather. Something about her hair and humidity.

Why do you think that you need to be digging square tabs to find a gold ring?    How many types of gold rings are likely to give the same ID as a large square pull tab?   Who would wear a large pull tab type of ring?   What activities would cause someone who wears a large pull tab type of ring to be lost?   Are any of those activities taking place where you dug all those square pull tabs?   Does that activity take place often enough that there is a good chance of a ring being lost, and, most importantly, lost and not recovered?

I'm trying to be helpful.  If you are going to go out and dig pull tabs at least understand why to dig them and where to dig them. 

I cannot over emphasis  the importance of those books titles I posted if you really want to be successful at this.  You hunt gold with your mind and recover it with a metal detector.

All these were dug in a 130 year old park in the open grass area near a baseball backstop and what i would describe as the throwing lanes. I'm using my Deus with the 9.5 HF coil at 14.4 for my frequency. I used my gold 14k wedding ring as my base (TID at 65) and a bunch of my wife's gold jewelry that I had bought for her over the past 30 years (TID's from 48-75). Nickels ring at 58-59 in this setup so I was digging signals in this range of 48-75 and discriminating them based on sound. After 10-15 of a certain type of pulltab I could tell what it was so I stopped digging those and concentrated on a range of 58-68 and dug most of the rest. 

I know you're trying to help and I greatly appreciate it. I dug way more rings period when I had my etrac which i sold to get my CTX which I sold because it spent 3 out of the 6 months I owned it at minelabs repair facility. I've read Clives books and own nearly all of them. I hunt where he says to hunt and i've had a lot of success at the beach especially with my Excal just not in the parks.

My huge number of pulltabs is likely a combination of myself and my detector and the fact the park is loaded with tabs. I'm hopeful the Equinox will help eliminate a lot of useless digging. Only time will tell.

I would imagine that the stock setups/programs are going to allow you to be successful 90% of the time. The engineers built the equinox to work in most locations and situations given it's a worldwide product. To me the word "most" describes 90%. If you're in a park the "park" program should give you success most(90%) of the time. As you get 100 hours or so on the machine in a variety of environments you should have the knowledge to begin tweaking it for those times where you need that extra 10%. 

You will only find things if you get out there and put your coil over it. Your sweep speed, how fast/slow you cover an area and your willingness to dig a lot of crap targets will teach you most of what you want to know. 

From what I understand bout beach hunting in Florida is that you will have plenty of competition. I would PM Dewcon here and see what he can share as he's a known master of the Florida beaches. 

Here's today's finds at a local park. I was only hunting for gold rings. 

I use the XP MI6. I bought it to pair with my Deus but never have. I like it, it's waterproof and has a mad 90 hours of run time between charges. I had a garrett carrot and a regular garrett but am happy I made the switch. 

Goats eat everything. Your return search should include some #2 and you'll probably find the 2.
