  1. You can’t really go wrong with either the f75 or the Legend. Most will say the Legend has more potential as multi-freq but for simplicity, ease of setup and user comfort and satisfaction, the f75 is awesome. I still want to get another one at some point.
  2. I was using an RC Digs remote holder until It broke when I think my Deus 2 backpack fell from where I Kept it and the remote must’ve taken the brunt. I just bought a generic cellphone arm band that rotates thinking it would also work with the remote. I got the one for phones 6.1” diagonal, but smaller might work even better, and it holds the remote just fine as you can see in the pictures below- very secure and fully adjustable for angle. I think it will work well for me and decided to post it in case anyone is interested. The remote buttons and display are wide open so you do need a good screen protector. got mine off eBay cost me about $12- there are other colors available too
  3. Was disappointed mine broke and unfixable. I’m thinking it fell from a shelf while in a backpack and must’ve hit the mount directly. I did like it but I’m going back to the 3-D lockable mount and getting a phone case armband.
  4. Thanks for the tips, Tyler which should apply also to the 900. I really enjoy using the 900 ( as I did the 800 and 600 I had) with the upgrades. I think the 11” and 6” coils are very good but I’m waiting for a Coiltek at old price because i can leave it on in most situations.
  5. I had the 800 and the 600, and now I have the 900 and while i havnt drawn any conclusions in comparison, I do like the 900 best. It’s lighter and better built with some new features, and I’m doing well with it. I’ll be getting the 10x5 soon which will be the “general purpose “ coil, hi also had the Legend, but did not take well to it but I’m not sure why. Good luck whichever one you decide on.
  6. Beautiful- good for you finding untouched Colonial homesite. Always on my mind while scoping new areas. I have come across exactly two untouched colonial sites in my 12 years of detecting and long for the day I stumble across another. I’d fall into a tick infested pit to find my next. I’m assuming your site was in NJ? Mine were in far North Jersey. Your experience is what it’s all about. Are you still finding relics there?
  7. Access to promising sites is far and away the most important predictor of finds- regardless of detectors used. Having both great sites and great equipment- well it doesn’t get better than that.
  8. Thanks for replying. I don’t think I’ll regret getting the 10x5 either, but I’m holding off for now. I just got the WM 09 wireless module so I can use lightweight headphones as I just can’t wear full size headphones like the ML 85. I only got it after finding them for $135 which is $100 less than i thought.
  9. Recently got a 900 and I like it a lot, although I’ve barely used it outside of my yard ( recently had surgery Is there anyone out there using a 900 with the 10x5 Coiltek? If so, what is your opinion of it? Do you recommend it as an all purpose coil (other than huge wide open spaces, where the 11” or larger is needed, or super target rich sites where the 6” would offer a clear advantage. I sold my 600 before the 10x5 coils were obtainable, but really wanted one. Thanks
  10. I work in an old iron mining town, and a lot of it went to supply Washington’s army. At one of the many old homesites in the area I found grapeshot and my only cannonball- a 4” , 7 pounder. In the area I also found the front and back of a powder flask and a sword pommel.
  11. Beautiful finds, F350. Cannon ball is both just a heavy piece of iron, and also so much more than a heavy hunk of iron.
  12. The cuff does, and there was a stand that came with it, but I misplaced it. I used something I had laying around for the stand you see. What I like about the RCdigs RC mount is that 1. no worries about losing the remote 2. The ability to tilt 3. Offers good protection of RC 4. Remote comes out easily to use it wrist mounted. 5. Nicest piece of 3-D printing I’ve ever seen. I think it also makes for easier attaching of the antenna for water detecting.
  13. As expected I ran into trouble trying to copy/ paste the link so here is a screen shot of the XP Deus “ Carbon Stick “ seller has poor feedback, but I didn’t have any issues. I’m only using it with the 9” coil, but it could handle the 11” ( I know you’re a fan of the 11”x13”) who knows how that would work out, it’s perfect for the niner. It came with a stand but I put my own on. In any case I like it a lot. If you want the best quality, you know where to get it ( Steves) Anyway, Here’s a couple pics.
  14. I took a chance buying it that it would work out and it has worked out better than I even imagined.
  15. Correct- I had to buy the puck adapter and replace what it came with. Seller was just a name and was from E. Europe.
  16. I’ll see if I can copy/ paste a link - I’ve never done that and I do everything on my iPhone- I don’t have a computer. I’ll put in in manually if I have to.
  17. I bought one of these for my remote to use on the stock D2 shaft and I think it’s great. I can use this setup for both 11” and 9” coils, but I also have a collapsible straight CF shaft that I use primarily with the 9” coil and using the WS6 puck controller. This little rig is Uber lightweight and like 22” long collapsed, which fits into a backpack as a single piece- coil shaft attached. I think this shaft was $90. eBay
  18. That’s some amazing history there! 900 arrived to the dismay of my wife. As stated earlier, I’m recovering from elective surgery and feeling momentarily decent put it together and threw it on charge. Build quality improvements are quite evident. that’s All I have to report so far.
  19. Oh, I’m in the northeast of PA and we got 15” here ( corner of pocono mtns )
  20. I would assume the Nox 900 iron falsing to be less of a problem when using the 6” coil in dense iron - regardless of IB or recovery speed Bought a never used 900 return that saved me $250 ( been wanting a 900 for some time) which I’ll have in a couple days. I’m looking forward to hitting some iron laden sites using the 6” coil. Using the Deus 2 w/ 9” coil it’s like pulling teeth to find anything non ferrous. When I had my 800 and 6” coil I pulled my only ever half reales from the iron- wondering if the 900 will unmask my 2nd. Just had a surgery and with snow on the way it that will have to wait.
  21. Hi George, I didn’t know about this new PP but it sounds appealing with the auto on/ off feature. I need another pinpointer like a Fish needs a bicycle, but when has logic stopped me from getting what I fancied? If it’s a good performer and not pricy I’ll be getting one fer sher Happy Buzzards day
  22. Ah, who knows. But of this I’m certain. Our colonist settlers were masters of repurposing out of sheer necessity. They needed a washer, they could make on out of a coin. I have a pair of cufflinks made from half reales. I have musket balls made into fishing sinkers. They didn’t have a Walmart and were thus more resourceful.
  23. I go there now more for nostalgia than expecting finds other than small iron. I dream of the day I stumble onto another such site. They’re there, but it’s rough terrain and homesites were somewhat scarce throughout that period. Good thing is if you do find a site with no cellar hole or anything obvious, it’s more likely to be untouched, so that’s all the more reason to look for them. There is no LiDAR available and sat photog doesn’t show much due to the tree density. Another special find from this site is this gold open thimble, engraved Germany.
  24. Random detecting very old area woods listening for telltale iron targets that led me to this virgin homesite a number of years ago. I still go to this site but it’s Rare to pull up any non ferrous target these days. Still searching the woods in hope of wandering onto another hidden homesite like this one.
