Problems With The Fisher F-Pulse
relicmeister replied to Norm S's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
After using my F-pulse for a couple months, I just can't seem to get through a couple of successive detecting outings without some annoying issue. The issues I have had lately are 1. Unit will make semmingly random loud beeps while using inside a hole and I've wondered if it is the alarm it makes when you forget to turn it off. 2. Unit will beep slowly all the while when seeking a target in a hole. I havnt tried a retune while touching bare ground enough to see if it's a fix. 3. It seems to freeze up about once per time out with it, so that's as annoying as changing batteries with each use. All considered, I'm about ready to put it up on eBay. I'm just not accustomed to so many issues as compared to the Garrett carrot, pp11 or original pp. -
Before I go out detecting I browse through the forums for comments that look useful , or for something new I might want to try. I'll go out with a plan to start with one mode and settings and spend most of that detecting session with it. Sometimes I will alternate at a given spot between two different modes and noting which seems to be doing better. Then, following the detecting session, I usually browse the forums again for comments others made about using those modes in similar detecting environments. It's all about trial and error, observing and noting results and preferences and reading what others are posting I'm not that big on watching videos, but I'm sure that's useful too

Equinox Ergonomics - The Challenge
relicmeister replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Most if not all of my criticisms of the equinox, including the ergos, really are more related to my obsessive nature, and not errors of design. After I added the folding modification, I for a time used it with the shaft in a "6:35"position, which mimicks to an extent the ergonomics of an s-shaft. I did conclude the swing felt a little better than straight, but not that much so, and I'm back to the regular straight position.( however, if I find myself wearing certain hiking boots with metal eyelets, I will use the "6:35" position to keep from falsing on my shoes with the closer in swing of the straight shaft. If I do get tired I have the simple bungee /hook setup shown to give an essentially weightless swing. -
6"x10" Coil For Minelab Equinox
relicmeister replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I like the size and shape of a 6"x10" less eccentric than the 5x10 and keep more depth. All I can say is the equinox is worthy of a large assortment of coils, and that includes a 10" concentric. In my opinion they will all sell good, and ultimately there will be a very large number of equinoxes out there so a good business move by Minelab to offer such an assortment. -
Eq 6" Coil - Coming Soon To A Minelab Dealer Near You!

About my expectation at $179. And I bet the 15" will cost $279. Any guess how much the wm08 costs? -
Consolidated Thread For Issues / Bugs / Flaws .. ?
relicmeister replied to Sinclair's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Given the number of equinoxes out there and that it's been some time now, it says something that this thread has so few posts. A pretty good roll out record I'd say. Well done, Minelab -
Good news, Norm. And welcome to the dual equinox owners club. I've been alternating between the 600 and 800 but as I branch out I'll likely favor the 800 when doing woods, fields and more challenging spots that the advanced settings would be useful with, and the 600 for parks and unplanned detecting spots. Later I'll keep the 600 with the 6" coil on

With the module velcroed to the earpiece it's not the size but the weight of it feels like the headphones move a little when I move around , and I just have to get used to it because they are secure. However, I tried it with the Minelab wires phones and because they are already loose on my head, the module makes it feel very unstable.

Loose Rods, Wobbly Rods, Rod Flex
relicmeister replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I have a 600 and an 800 and neither one has any looseness, wobble or flex. -
As of yet, I haven't noticed any latency, even the few times I had the recovery all the way up to 8. If I ever do notice lag it will be in recovery speed of 7 or 8.

Zagg Clear Screen Protectors For The Equinox

I made mine using clear, flexible vinyl from fabric section of Walmart ( used for table covers ) It attaches with Velcro and I can make new ones as needed. -
Anderson Shafts Available Soon For Equinox
relicmeister replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Sticking with the stock coil but good for those that prefer these. Will they offer an s-shaft ? -

I soon realized that it has to be removable in order to charge the module. (doh!) i did exactly that used self adhesive Velcro so it stays in use and comes off for recharge.

The headphones are Amazon basic. They are on ear not over ear and they sound great at 32 ohm. They're only $16 black blue or white, 1/8" jack so no adapter needed to use wm08. I redid with zip ties so I'm good to go- wirelesss

I have an equinox 600 and 800. I am using the APTX Bluetooth headphones on the 800. I have been using the WM08 wireless module with the 600. However, the dangling wires were still annoying with the module in a shirt pocket. I experimented with attaching the module to my hat but this was awkward. So i tried something different- I wound excess cordage around headband of my Amazon basics 32 ohm headphones. Then i fastened the module to one side of the earmuffs with black duct tape. What resulted is shown here. It is very convenient this way , like the apt x is. The only thing is I'm afraid the tape will get messy in hot weather, so next I will fasten the module with elastic or ziptes. I'm using them with my 600 today.

Good luck and have a blast

Missing My Equinox 800 While It's In For Repair
relicmeister replied to Norm S's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I'm glad I have an 800 and a 600 so that if one gets flaky and has to be sent in, I will be unaffected during the repair and shipping. -
And that would help us get one how? i just want a price : $150? $399? Guess I should "preorder " one from Mr. dealer
-
These types of glitches were bound to start showing up as more and more units get into regular use. I must say now that if I experience some such anomaly I'll be glad I have the other equinox, so I don't have to go without one, even if the service turn around is short. It does appear that Minelab is ready to address these issues very quickly to get positive feedback in the forums and equinox groups.

Easy Way To Know That Headphones Are Turned Off
relicmeister replied to parkgt's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I just make sure I hear the descending tones before I take them off. One thing I did though is cut a tiny circle of fuzzy self adhesive Velcro and put it on the power button of the ML 80 which makes it so much easier to tell which is the power button by feel alone, which can be hard to do due to their smallness and closeness. -
Granted I only have about 6 hours on each but I have the ML 80 on the 800 and the wm 08 on the 600, and they seem identical to me, not certain about noticing latency when in recovery speed 8- just not enough use to be sure, but certainly not obvious. If I ever notice a lag when in recovery speed 8 I'll swap the two around.
