  1. Found this today. Top pocket find... I think it finds gold, just fine. 14.6 gr. 10k.
  2. Only detecting for 6 years now, I consider my talents above average with an aversion to digging clay! However, I did open up the discrimination 1-4 within low conductors. It sure makes the detector liven up. Almost to the point of being unstable. Now, I just need to find those gold chains that everyone has been missing. 😁
  3. Depth of the manti is crazy. Rarely ever had to remove the top 3" of plug to use g-carrot with the equinox.
  4. Compared to the equinox I have been digging more nails and Bobby pins. The trace for these sometimes resemble our canuck clad...
  5. Another observation. The Manticore handles EMI the best of any detector I've owned. I was able to run it between 30 and 34 sensitivity today and recovered 2 rings! I was actually hoping for some silver coinage. But I'll take it. Fourth hunt with the Manticore and I have scorched past last years recovery rate, indubitably.
  6. Three bars is approximately 6". Pinpointer will not register anything past 5". It could the soil here in Calgary. Don't know. I occasionally noticed this phenomenon with my Equinox, but never thought much about it. It seems to happen way more with the Manticore.
  7. Coins on edge: Manti picks them up, shows 6" depth. Pinpointer Garret carrot can't locate it. So you figure it's really 6". So you flip the plug and the coin is in the top 2" of plug, and now the pinpointer is accurate again... Is it me or is it a field masking quirk?
  8. Found this little treasure at an over hunted park. Marked 18k, tested just less. Local MD club has had numerous hunts on this particular patch. We need a new pinpointer that will detect to 10" now!
  9. Longbow62, interesting observation. Going out Saturday. I'll keep an eye open for climbing GB numbers!
  10. Finally got out for a lake hunt with friends. Success, with 2 silver rings recovered. Now, ground balance set to zero with tracking on is useless to me. It takes forever for GB numbers to level out. So, I start with a manual GB then turn on tracking. Thoughts. Also coming from an Equinox it seems that I keep thinking TID numbers are the same...😆 One more thing, I really like the way pulltabs sounds are elongated. Last observation, rings on the flat give perfect traces, while rings on edge, (At least one that I found has lacquer inlays) give a scattered trace along the center line.
  11. I agree, I have no idea as to how improved the Manti... is. However, I am always impressed with how well the Equinox continuously outperforms other detectors that hunt with me. Especially on trash...
  12. I am more interested in how pull tabs and beaver tails are represented on the 2d graph.
  13. Yeah! Just got a reply from Minelab that the Equinox is not discontinued. I'll wait.
  14. I was hoping for an Equinox upgrade... So is this really an Equinox rebranded?
  15. So, if it only works in multi, why, then are 4 & 5 kHz sensitive to aluminium nuances? I guess this means more testing...
  16. Only in 4 and 5 kHz single modes. It doesn't seem to work in multi....
  17. Salt water is a whole different story. I don't know when I will be able to test on salt water or ocean beaches.
  18. I love Fe2! So far, this season, I have set Fe2 at ZERO. I have dug everything in the first FIVE hunts. So far, 95% of pull tabs have been detected correctly. Beaver tails and old tabs still get dug. But overall I am loving the signals that Fe2 has provided.
  19. Yes, the triangle with exclamation mark in middle. Overload indicator. Sorry, I got use to calling it a black sand indicator, 'cause it only activates for me when on black sand...
  20. I have a question regarding how the Equinox throttles back sensitivity when it encounters black sand. If I am running at 17 sensitivity on a salt water beach and detect over black sand; the machine throttles back sensitivity. By how much does it do this? What would be the sensitivity when the black sand indicator is active at 17? This leads me to wonder. If running at 25 sensitivity and the machine encounters black sand, is it going to be a higher number than the previous scenario? I also realize, that at 25 the machine will probably throttle back sensitivity much sooner than at 17... Just curious, thanks!
  21. My bad, don't know where nylon came from... it is actually PTEG. The coil stiffener is glow in dark and is great for water detecting. The pod mount is a set of handlebar risers I ordered from Amazon. I taught myself Freecad to design the arm cuff. The first prototype was just to test fit. This one is #2, and actually impressed me with how strong it is. I designed the arm cup to wrap around your forearm a bit, instead of using a strap. We'll have to see how well it stays in place and how comfortable it is.
  22. Prototype arm cuff, 28mm id. Nylon print with what was on hand.
