I didn't get the dead horse thing, I thought it was another Fisher F-Pulse Sensitivity test. All kidding aside I just hope everyone gets them soon

I will try and make the humor a little more obvious next time.

.....please continue with this superlative thread.

seems very similar in performance with my Garrett Pro Pointer AT, thanks for the video

I have the Carrot, and it is similar in sensitivity to small items as the F-Pulse. Perhaps a tad more sensitive.

Being pulse induction, the F-Pulse is stable in saltwater and hot mineralized soil.  The F-Pulse is by far a deeper pinpointer.  This helps zero in on shallow targets for more accurate target extraction in sensitive areas. The form fitted rubber grip in the handle of the F-Pulse provides better grip than the Carrot's smooth tapered handle. The F-Pulse has a brighter LED that's adjustable. AA batteries in the F-Pulse not 9v like the Carrot. The F-Pulse can shift frequencies to operate smoothly with different metal detectors. The Carrot is now my spare/backup pinpointer.

Ultimately I want to be a nugget hunter, but I'm starting as a coin and relic hunter to get a feel for the job and it's routines.

I think the F-Pulse will do nicely for nugget and coin/relic hunting.  The F-Pulse is remarkably stable even at maximum sensitivity, and it can detect sub-gram items. Check out the videos I posted in the Fisher/Teknetics forum: http://www.detectorprospector.com/forum/forum/12-first-texas-bounty-hunter-fisher-teknetics/

I plan on using the F-Pulse for sniping bedrock as well as general pinpointing for coins and jewelry. I have not tested the F-Pulse with the Equinox yet, but hopefully I will get to in the next week or two.  The F-Pulse does have the ability to shift the frequency to run with various detectors.

What I’ve seen so far this has been more like a soap opera. I think a good name would be  As The Stomach Turns. Stay tune next to see if Joe will receive that Equinox or will he be disappointed again. If that is not to be EMS is standing by.

So true! The acting is better here though. They cry real tears .

  5. I ordered through BigBoysHobbies.com and was required to pay the full price even though the detector was months out.  There is nothing GREEDY, or usual, about paying for an item long before you get it.  Back in the day, when you ordered products from a catalog, it could take a month or two to get your order. If you've ever ordered from vendors overseas, it can take months to get your item. Once I ordered a hand made Khukuri from Nepal. That order took 120 days at least to get, and I was required to pay in full beforehand.  People today have little patience.  It's an instant gratification world we live in.  If somebody was clever enough to figure out how to get an Equinox from Cabela's without waiting, then good for them.  I'm sure Cabela's received the same quantity as Smellyco. And since Cabala's doesn't take pre-orders, they just sold them first come first served.  Seems fair to me. Wish I thought of it!

Here's some free advice for you single guys.  If you're the outdoorsey type, don't marry a prissy little cheerleader.  If you're interested in a girl, take her hunting or fishing or metal detecting on your first date. If she squeals like a banshee the first time she gets a lil' mud on her, then she ain't the one.

I vetted my wife with a 5 mile hike and a visit to the pub afterwards.

Thats me single for life then round here . They all look as detectorists like we are weirdos in my neck of the woods.

My wife thinks it looks ridicules but she loves me just the same. Don't let that stop you.

  7. My wife supports any purchasing decisions I make, whether it's a new motorcycle, or a new detector.  We both work hard, we live and enjoy life. The funny thing is, she would say: "you should get that geiger".  Shes calls metal detecting "geigering" and usually laughs when she says it.

The reason I like the 800 is because of it's all around capabilities.  The ultimate detector to me is one that can do it all. Do it all well, and break down into a size that's easily carried in a backpack.  I want a detector I can take on a Sunday ride and not have to worry where I end up, or the conditions I might face.  Freedom is what I'm looking for in a "geiger", and that's what the Equinox 800 offers.
