  1. In all fairness midalake.... they were using full sensitivity, pretty uncommon, but i think the point was its pretty harsh hunting there but the machine handled it even in full sensitivity. Im not a fan of aluminum...... it blisters way to fast on the inside and locks up those shafts much faster than CF. Also, the coil on a sensitive machine can have a halo of over 24" reading that aluminum...... you dont notice it because it moves with you.... but can cause blind spots in a coil...... much like when we used SS bolts at the coil.
  2. Is that a METAL clink i hear? Are the Shafts aluminum? Now come on....... they used a CTX connector for the cable and not the phones? LOL...... a penny first target 24 imagine that. I appreciate the video...... targets are what that are. Once this thing is out....... i believe we will see its not just a coin machine..... it will pick up gold.... smaller gold than the CTX/Xcal.
  3. Well....... ill just say in a very short period.... like a year, ML raised the Xcals $300 because of the dollar. BUT..... like the Xcal this could still be a bargain for us water hunters.
  4. Chase i realize this was a business decision NOT using the CTX connector. It affected people like GG as well, who is now looking for the adapter. My thing was.... they had the CTX ones already and many die hard ML fans supported them by paying that crazy price for the CTX, we even adapted our Xcal end caps to use those connectors. They are pretty reliable connectors. So my point was i guess, that if you are going to change it at least have something available for the red headed step children lol. The purpose of good headphones is to hear extremely weak signals that the external speaker isnt capable of responding to......and there is just to much noise in the Ocean or Gulf... a lot of times even with phones on. It also saves batteries as Steve has said. Ears full of water/pressure changes things. Also.... even us FL guys right now arent willing to stick our face in 50ish degree water.
  5. So ...... no. Our only option will be to modify the cable that is provided with a CTX connector. Im told their priority is to get the 6" coil out. I guess im taken back...... all they needed to do was put an adapter on the already undesired yellow phones. These phones have been around for years. Had they used the CTX connector we would have been in business........ their yellows, GGA, and the ones eveyone makes.
  6. Steve.......maybe i missed it...... but out of the box, IF they dont have those yellow phones i cant get in the water neck deep correct? That waterproof cable/adapter isnt waterproof on one end. My only option besides those yellows for deeper water submersion would be to modify that cable putting a CTX connector on it. I do have the male CTX connector on all my phones so i can use them on both the CTX and Xcals.
  7. I dont think anyone hunting a salt water beach is going to be disappointed....... in fact i think ML may have to change that suggestion that its not as good as BBS/FBS out there for gold at least.
  8. So what is the proper output....... 12DCV? I ask that because my CTX battery is 7.2 lith. ML appears to be saying anything that has a USB can charge the battery........ is that over stated? Dont they have to be compatible in some way? Maybe not since we are charging the battery not running the machine with the external battery. Looks like a trip to my local hobby shop guy who knows the ins and outs of batteries.... especially all the new lith ones. Not sure we are going to be able to rig that for IN the water thou the way the magnetic charging system works. BUT..... i highly doubt ill hunt that kind of hours....... plus someone already mentioned a battery upgrade that to me would be a way better solution and a lot cleaner.... no wires ect. Can anyone give me the thread where we were talking about changing out the batteries or where i believe GEOTECH mentioned the longer mah rechargables batteries....... i want to look them up.
  9. On that gold....... a lots going to depend on how much foil you want to dig still. Thats not changing. Other gold jewelry........ the ET/CTX will find you just are ignoring it and concentrating on silver avoiding the trash these target fall in. Try.....disc out the higher range and have a dig for gold day. The machines going to find some smaller gold jewelry than our current machines......... its still not going to be deep and its still going to be foil. BUT.......i expect more of the small stuff is going to be posted. If you have a golf swing or like to have your coil more than a couple inches off the sand........ you best work on that now.
  10. When dealing with beaches...... that list will change based on IN the water, wet sand or dry for us. Its not a matter of HOT...... its a matter of ability to function best to the conditions. Gold 1 and 2....... arent they more AM and just 2 tone? The other options might be better for dry sand like Cliff said.
  11. Oh man i want that white coil. Ive tested various colors on my coil....... seems here in the Gulf white is best. So i spray paint the front quarter of my coils.
  12. Steve.....do we have the ability to turn off salt like we do on the CTX for improved dry sand hunting or is that programed? Its going to be interesting to see what works best on a dry sand salt beach here in Fl.
  13. I see that now....... i dont know why i thought there was just a small one. I was recommending one go over those threads so you didnt have to tighten it down so much....but its at the bottom ...got ya.
  14. Use the plug if you are in the salt water........ id also recommend an O ring.... salt water and fine sand has a way of getting everywhere not properly sealed. Highly unlikely you will be using wireless if the box is very far under water unless like Steve said...... someone comes up with a wired solution. Even then....... if you are a FULL TIME salt water beach person....if the speakers arent sealed you are talking a risk because over time salt mist will harm the phones/speakers. It will eat up most leather muffs too. We have this issue even with sealed ones we use. Dew
  15. There ya go Steve.... that may well be an answer to the question as well...... its designed to compete with the AT and Deus. Neither are a salt water machine. We also remember the issues with the AT ..... and even the CTX when introduced to water. Some are just trying to sort out IF this machine will work for their style of hunting...... yet give them an opportunity to hunt in other areas occasionally. For some it may not. Some have already made the decision to get or not get the machine. I have...... based on what ive been told by reliable people. Information ...... for some they dont have enough. It took time for the CTX to gain trust vs that kind of cash. Many still wont take them in the salt water........ but ill bet ya they are on the pre order for this machine. It takes a LOT of park change to afford a pricy detector...... i know been there. Not so much for a beach hunter ..... even a blind squirrel will pay for his machine fairly quickly.
  16. YES...... when connected it feeds both ways.........other wise no. BUT........ like was said MOST people just dont hunt 12 hours or more. There will be those who may NOT have access to a charger who is hunting more over a period of days. So i think we are over thinking this ........ maybe worried about an issue that really isnt.
  17. But........if what im told is correct...... there is NO charge on those pins....... they cant be read ...... so its a one way system... juice goes in not out. The Aqua Sound has such a charging system. Those magnetic on the machine its self is INSIDE so they arent exposed to salt water.
  18. Todd....... Lith.... 12DCV..... because they have you plugging into about anything USB DCV. In this case its more the charging time it takes even if it dont fully charge...... its added external charge. There are IP67 USBs as well that could be put in an end cap...... then the battery pod could be charged by most USB charging systems. If you dont need it water proof you wouldnt have to change the cable at all. There still is the question........ will that magnetic connector allow charging while in the water? If not....... then simple system would be an end cap with a USB. It may NOT charge in the water.......... buddy just told me those 4 connection point cant read the battery with multi meter. So its like the Aqua Sound...... has an internal one way switch that only works when charging so its not affected by the water unless we try to use it in the water. HOwever .......... if this is just a counter weight which i plan on using one as..... get a junk pod and fill with the proper weight. One more thing........... those magnets that attach it to the machine to charge.......... they would last just a couple of weeks once salt water gets to them........ if you have them in your scoop you know what im saying.
  19. Not to up.....Northeast, i forgot you have to then charge that pod that has a ctx connector ..... duh.... another set up lol. BUT....... if i someone smarter than me can tell me that the magnetic connection would be able to work while under water..... ill get mine together.
  20. OK....... i see that. You thinking of putting say a RNB batter pack in there for recharging? Going to be pricy. You will have to mod the cable with a connector for the Xcal pod....... $75.... plus that battery. If you dont have the pod....... bam another $85 for the AAA. Charger has a USB end. NOW you could change the end cap. You could buy a second charger cable then have Joe (ole beach nut) send you an end cap with a ctx connector. You could mod the other end with another CTX connector to make it water proof. BUT.... im not sure about charging IN the water with the magnetic connector. It would help with balance if put behind the cuff.
  21. But Steve........ like you said a dedicated machine like different type hammers wont perform as well in more than one situation. Im assuming these multi purpose machines could change that...... with better electronics and processors it looks like they can program each of those tasks to function independently..... giving us a really good general purpose machine. From what ive heard most of the testers are pretty satisfied for their area of hunting........... they may well not be top dog, but for most people its close enough.
  22. Thanks Steve..... yes i saw those. Im pretty comfortable its going to work well...... not necessarily by these videos. The one shows it moves very well in the surf...... the other with the coin, that was impressive in the oat meal....... the the Hawaii one.... not so good.
  23. That said........ as an all around machine which would you grab? Im not unrealistic about what its going to do in the water either..... but its one upped the competition like Deus and AT pro by being salt water ready. Its going to be a great general purpose machine that some-timers can afford. I dont do much raw gold or dirt hunting any more...... but its sure nice to see one we compare to TOP DOG detectors in each category. How much lighter did it swing did some of those lunker gold machines? I think Steve is right thou..... they may need some better suited coils for gold hunting now. Great report....... i suspect in the next week we will start hearing more from the testers as well. Dew
  24. Does seem odd to have the flag ship detector...... especially at its price, have a NEW detector step in appearing to do as well or out do the very machines that the flag ship is struggle to compete with...... yet remain the flag ship. How do we now define flag ship? Not sales or performance. Ill have to see the difference now to decide if ML is correct about BBS/FBS still being top dog...... in some areas it may not be unless theres something we just dont know yet.
  25. Mike our advantage over raw gold may well be that most is less than 50% gold the rest is a mixture of other metals. so im not so sure we arent going to be impressed with beach mode..... at least in the water.
