  1. There are more than a 100 machines out there. Ive got no. 28 and had mine well over a couple of years. This coil design IMO is a better design for the beach hunter..... same length but more coverage. As far as worth.... Chase you need to get wet buddy. This thing is BETTER than a Nox in the salt and im betting close to an AQ in depth in disc. Its not loosing that much depth in the water like other VLFs. Id easily say only some of the newer PIs may get better depth..... but then you are still dealing with TID with those. This is NOT a multi freq machine.... but anyone who hunts the beaches will tell you it will pay for its self in gold. I paid my machine off in less than a couple of months.... i expect to do the same with this coil. Popularity and sales drive what coils may come out later. Tom D pushed hard for this coil.... i think its already got those of us wanting it on board. Like was said .... any little edge. This may even peak more UK hunters attention to this machine once testing starts. I like my niche machine lol. IF he changes to the new battery box design thats totally water proof and adds this coil i may well sell my Nox in the closet and get a second machine since i already have two standard coils.
  2. It NOT plastic.... and the coil is 11" not 9. Dimitar changed the material once for me because i cracked mine taking it off. You just cant man handle it taking it off..... like pulling it just from the back. 12" looks great... ill see how it goes without the cover.... because when i get mine ill be using it with or with out that cover. Already gotten a little review from someone here who hunted with his Sunday. Pretty positive review. I appreciate your sacrifice by sending your shaft to SteveG. Thats going to be a nice addition along with the coil for water hunting. Takes awhile for people to trust a start up company..... but these add ons and word of mouth .... i think the machine is catching on.
  3. Plain and simple I wouldn’t use the ML phones at their price tag except for diving. I’d give the extra money for Tony Eisenhower’s or Patriots for full time hunting.
  4. But i think its what a lot of users asked for. That being a machine NOT watered down for the NORMAL user. It allows the skilled user to take advantage of the machines raw power and grow into the machine.
  5. I guess we all are looking for something a little different. But ... the machine needs to be waterproof on a salt water beach. Here in the gulf a lot of the beaches only have about 10 yards of wet sand. IN THE WATER is where this machine was expected to shine by being deeper and more sensitive to gold than our VLFs. There is considerably MORE sand to cover IN the water than wet which would limit the use and frankly make the machine less attractive at the currently discussed price. It would really make it a niche machine most of us would pass on.
  6. We dont always agree Rick, but i believe both our goals is to see the best possible machine produced. Im a niche water guy looking for gold.... so im selfish about what i wanted to have. I may have rubbed some the wrong way..... but im also old, grumpy, and dont care lol. There still seems to be some tweaks needed and im sure Fisher is working on those. If that happens ....this should be worth every penny especially for those who like a PI.
  7. This plan and simple was a test model normally given to testers with NDAs so ya never here who they are.... and they then gave the machines back. Fisher tried something different.... allow a group of good hunters to test a machine and talk about it. AND they could buy their machines. Unfortunately the price was released as well. Maybe not the best idea. We got to see this machine evolve and change. Fisher learned quickly what we liked and didn’t. Even though from the beginning Rick said the production model was going to be in that mentioned price range. So your complaint is the tester got to buy their machines at an unheard of price .... not that the machines are any different
  8. Drag is the concern..... the more drag the more things break over time. But also some wear on the upper lock/shaft. A little movement up there can really be seen at the coil and with a single button spring clip the upper will move and wear. Need that shaft further in there.... BUT ya have to be careful NOT to get into those wires that come out the front of the box to the battery
  9. Well Tom put up some testing results on the new coil. I know what I get on a buried nickel at my beach before it starts reading iron with the Nox near the oat meal... somewhere around 11”. I don’t have Tom’s skills but even if I loose an inch or so..... this is great depth. I’m glad it got some testin in the water too. Like I’ve said before the machine doesn’t loose a lot of depth in the water and that alone can really translate to an advantage over other water machines. Got mine coming. We will be doing some swings over a few targets with both the AQ and MDT if I can get one of the guys I know here out on the sand. For those interested... especially the water hunters SteveG maybe getting a borrowed shaft to try and make it a smaller diameter.... which will equate to less water displacement. It’s currently between a standard shaft and CTX shaft.
  10. Ya man me too. I’d tried to talk him out if that thing before he left.... maybe that why they didn’t tell me lol
  11. I may have missed an opportunity. I heard Dimitar was at the weekend hunt in Gainsville and had a booth showing off this new coil.
  12. I think social media has changed things. Used to be we found out about machines just before they came out.... now 2 or 3 years it seems we get to talking. Once the cat is out of the bag we EXPECT the companies to provide EVERYTHING about the machine .... that is still in the works. This allows the competitors to plan ahead it seems. ML did the Nox ... volume, because i cant believe they made a huge profit, but EVERYTHING stopped selling. Must have been like crickets in the shops..... and two major companies went out of business. Cant say expensive machines done sell..... especially after they prove themselves.... lot at the CTX. Wonder how many bought a CTX once the Nox came out? So now ... we have a certain expectation of cost and performance. My question is..... was the limited way under priced.... or what are we getting for this inflation? Not that the machine may not be worth it when you compare it to the ML gold machines rather than VLFs. If it out performs Erics machines.... its pretty special. Its working great for some of you guys.... but others its been in the shop more than on the beach... those bugs needs to be fixed.
  13. I rarely hunt anywhere but IN the salt water. like a timeX .... mines taken a licken and is still ticken. I told Tom when i first got mine we just didnt need a speaker. Not only do we not use them, it uses more battery, cant hear it as well.... especially on a beach and they likely will leak. Ive always used a nylon sticker over my speaker area.... even my dirt machines. Id say there is only one place the machine might leak without this speaker.... where the wires come in at the front of the box where they go back to the battery box. HOWEVER.... im certain Dimitar seals that very well. Me and a couple beach guys have gotten water in the battery box found when taking out the battery to charge. Rinse, blow out, use anti rust.... and good to go. Id be amazed if one of those connectors would ever be an issue. I cant advocate dunking any ones machine like mine has been with the water rating.... which is an industrial rating. So hopefully these upgraded ones he will feel more comfortable. He does detect and has been for years.
  14. I seen the MDT site and NASA Tom’s site both have some new price lists now. I had 4 other machines that I sold ... still have a blue Xcal and Nox.
  15. Another big change has been taking the machine to a full water proof machine I believe which included that aluminum battery compartment upgrade. He did a little tinkering with mine early on then Aaron got the new offering yet to be released to my knowledge. That one may also NOT have a speaker for better waterproofing. I didn’t need that any way. He also upgraded the coil cover material... it harder. I did ask if it was possible to upgrade my battery box. Aaron said it wasn’t.
  16. Let’s not even talk about swing 😂 have ya seen those golfers out there? Keith mentioned hes 6’ something with his shaft extended in the 3rd hole .... mine is in the second so I get the use out of that shaft out there. I’ve also been whining about it not having a coil cover.... why because if I don’t epoxy mine I can wear one out is less than a year. So I’m hoping for a tuff as nail coil. I traveled full time in an RV for some time detecting. A dirt digger knows how to hunt.... and a good one don’t leave ya much.
  17. But .... its 12" wide so you have more swing for near targets lol. Price vs payback is kind of always a coin flip..... much like buying a new machine. In the salt water i saw the Nox loose 2" on a 3 gram ring....the MDT may... i say may have lost a little..... now add that 2". To me ... its worth maybe hearing something someone missed. AND likes been said..... we pay for this stuff fairly quickly. Dirt diggers really have to think harder. Keith makes some good videos..... lot of knowledge there. DOnt know how long he will have the coil or if hes been given one for keeps to do videos.... im hoping so.
  18. "Quite a bit better"..... well its going to have a much larger surface 30% i believe and more depth. Thats to be determined based on area. According to Aaron the MSRP is $360..... normally an MSRP isnt the final price.... but it maybe in this case. For me ....2 or more inches with the added surface at that price im in especially if that depth is in the water. Its dang tuff to squeak out inches now days..... physics is physics. Here in Florida i dont have a problem saying this machine is deeper than other machines im using. I dont know of any other VLF machine that has a coil for this depth..... so it would have to be another machine (or PI which is work).... which would certainly cost me more than this coil. Ive also said .... if the targets are sanded in..... a machine that gets FEET more wont help. So yes .... its a bunch of money..... but no different than usual... we buy larger and smaller coils all the time IF we feel they could help. Here is the MSRP price list for all Tarsacci products: MDT8000 with standard 11X9 coil $1495 MDT8000 with 12"coil $1585 MDT8000 with 11X9 and 12" coils $1760 MDT-11X9 coil $270 MDT-12 coil $360 Coil cover for MDT-11X9 coil $12 Tarsacci headphones $45
  19. Im sure Aaron will get on here soon..... but he put it up on the Tarascci that the price and availability will be posted tonight for the new 12" coil. Pre-orders are being taken as well. I assume they will be dropped shipped rather than go to the dealer then out to us.
  20. People are into fitness and their sleep patterns now days .... not to mention crazy health supplements to do it. Rings and watch’s seems to be a thing
  21. Joe.... it seems to be Fishers version of the CTX... really high priced for such a niche group. Hey ... but the CTX found a following. They need to work on those short comings.... no one likes a machine thats in the shop. One reason i got away from the Xcal. Shes also a little noisy to run in the salt water. That means slow down or all those deep targets you expected to hear turn into not as deep a target. Hopefully that warranty will be transferable. This is a powerful PI.... any machine that can equal an Eric Foster machine can be worth having. A lot of people watch the classifieds for Erics machines. Experience will come into play..... know your beach....this one is going to be picky so dont expect a VLF. Joe.... they need to use your design for that battery. As far as price goes.... i notice Fisher has an MSRP and then an out the door price which can reduce that price a great deal.... $600 or so. I was guess it would be around $1800....seems i maybe way off, hopefully not.
  22. Down load the manual..... in fact i suggest always doing that for any machine you are interested in. The machine has one notch..... say you notch a pull tab at 6 any target +-2 discrimination set point will be silenced. I believe there are currently 3 dealers here in the states.... one in Calf, Aaron in Mich, and Tom Dankowski in Fl. I believe the website gives a way to place an order. Midalake.... i here ya... but at this point it seems READY. Next week the price will apparently be out on the 12". Not sure more videos are needed which will only prolong this. HOWEVER.... i would like to hear from someone.... preferably Tom how this coil does on the salt water beach depth and sensitivity wise. Will we have to back it off chest deep...or even drop it to 6.5 khz for best results. It should be interesting to see how it interacts out there. The standard coil picks up a near target pretty well out there... and the scoop lol. So coverage should be great on this one I do like the design of the coil.... beefier ear with them moved more toward the center and those crossover filled. Seems now days its a good thing to start talking up a something new..... unfortunately with social media we dont like the long wait. Company seems to be evolving this machine well..... Fully waterproof, better aluminum battery compartment (1 battery $5 amazing), updated coil with the options when purchasing. Its been a tuff winter down here .... you really have to FIND the gold with all this sand. Waves/wind seems worse .... yet isnt moving much of that sand. Tourist are down 1/3 they said.
  23. Thanks Aaron I saw that but it didn’t sink in I guess. But I’ll see what it does for me in the water.
  24. I just watched some more videos on the MDT site. One of the things mentioned was .... the price will be announced next week for the 12" coil. No mention of release date or if there will be pre-order. The videos didnt really give me a sense of depth that might translate to beach hunting, mostly because the targets werent dug...... but i understand why. Still quiet as to what it will do on the Salt water beach. The video showed it upscaled a bit higher than the standard coil......but it also showed a PP digit of 49. Not certain now how high his non-ferr digits go on his machine..... mine i thing goes to 30.
  25. Initially Tom D said they werent even going to offer headphones.... just the cable. Not many people ever like the factory headphones. I had Tony E make a pair for me before i even got the machine..... i knew that cable wasnt going to work for me. I dont have a problem putting down the machine.... nothing like the Xcal.... ugh. Old school i guess ive just not liked any of the wireless phones. Ya i kind of agree .... i like new tech, but some things .... especially those things that IMO after market does better should be standard. It took months for ML to get a pair of waterproof phones out for the Nox.... and what did we get? Thus far we have i dont like the phones..... and i want a coil cover.... Thats a pretty small complaint list.
