I am a retired Canadian Forces veteran. I asked my local detector dealer if the Minelab discount could be applied to my purchase in Canada and it was granted.

Maybe you need to ask for it in other countries as it certainly isn't advertised. Good luck!!!

The vast majority of the time, I use the supplied wireless headphones and absolutely love them. They're warm in cooler weather and are very effective at keeping mosquitoes and blackflies out of my ears when they are around. However, on hot humid days, wearing the headphones isn't very comfortable so I use earbuds connected to the WM08 module. If I had to give a number, let's say 97% headphones and the other 3% with the buds.

May not be the perfect solution but it works for me...

The ground is almost completely thawed in my neck of the Great White North and I managed to get out a couple of times to kick start my second season with the Equinox!!

The sweetest sound in the world has to be when silver rings loud and clear through your headphones and you just know it's gonna be great!!  My very first silver of the year was a 1942 quarter that had to be pried from a clod of frozen dirt while the 1944 dime and 1902 5 cent coin (fishscale or fishie) came out of rather soggy holes. The fishies are quite hard to come by and this one is my first. I have only ever seen two other fishies come out of the ground.

The Equinox 800 is certainly proving it's worth when I detected an absolutely pounded waterfront park and I was rewarded with two of the sweetest coppers around. The large cent almost looks like it was dropped the day it was minted....but we're a long way from the mint. ?

Temps will be well into the double digits (Celsius) tomorrow and I can feel a great year coming on!!!!

Much like GB, I use an Excel spreadsheet to record date, location, amount and types of coins as well as notable finds. I also take pics of everything and store them in folders by year, date and location. I also store that Excel file within the applicable annual photo folder and it's easy enought to cross reference when I need to locate a pic of that 1850 coin I dug.....good luck!!!!

Yes Sir, the 1965 is 80% silver. Canadian quarters and dimes were silver up to 1967. In 1968, some were silver and some were nickel...only a magnet knows for sure. And at some point, we digressed into steel garbage...

I just reviewed my files and a conservative estimate would put me about 35 hours or so over 10 outings using the Equinox.

Yeah, I take pics of everything I dig even if it's 51 pennies and a bunch of nickels and then file them by date and location. And the missus has the unmitigated gall to say I have OCD. It's CDO, dammit...the letters have to be in alphabetical order!!!  LMAO!!!

I got into the hobby of metal detecting three years ago and have a couple of Teknetics detectors which work just great. I watched the development and release of the Equinox brand with interest as a friend is an avid Minelab user. To cut a really long winded story short, I bought an Equinox 800.

Nobody has been more amazed at the capabilities of this detector than I. In the short six weeks I have been learning to us it, I am in awe of it's simplicity, or if so desired, it's complexity. I have not ventured too far in adjusting settings yet as I learn the basics of this machine. One of the standout features of the detector is the wireless headset capability; I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I am.

Anyway, I don't always find silver when I head out detecting but when I do, it is magical. I'll let a couple of pics tell the rest of the story....

The quarters are 1918, 1951, 1952 and 1960. The dimes are 1942, 1949, 1950, 1960 and 1965...and that Merc is a 1944.

The ring on the left is stamped sterling and the other two are stamped 925.

I think I've caught the silver bug that is going around!!!!!
