Below are the results from a couple of days pulling apart mullock piles using the Manticore with the M8 coil . For the likes of Reg etc. I will preface this post by declaring I am in no way a prospector and have detected for gold probably less than 20 times in my life . And yes , my gold is certainly fly poop ! Of course I hope to stumble over a larger piece but meanwhile as a person who detects metals I find it utterly fascinating how small a gold piece the Manticore can find . I am using a version #1 machine that was one of the early machines into Australia . Gold mode , recovery 5 , sens 22-24 . Have experimented with tracking on and off finding that I cannot track out a small bit . Ground balance here is running between 40 to 54 . I am not using all metal mode . Gold is coming in at 6 to 9 in the sizes below . Hot rocks in the 20's and clearly in the non ferrous area on screen . Also 1 and 2 have so far proven to be rubbish . Signals on gold have been very clear and easy to call as gold , except for small lead . The area I am hunting has very high E.M.I. which drives my Nox nuts , but silent running here for the Manticore . The only drawback is coil knock sensitivity so requires good coil management , ditto for the Nox .
Two days hunting with the second day being with two mates using their 6000's , they found nothing ! I have to say I have no wish to find gold any smaller unless it's in a pan . The Nox with a 6" coil may be superior on bits below .04 gram but above that I believe the Manticore is well in front . Sorry about the quality of the pics . I have no macro function on my camera and feel rather jealous of some of the pics on the forum .

Wow ! With the discovery of the photo in this ring the find has gone from great to absolutely outstanding . Dream find . Congrats !

I received my Manticore way back in mid December 2022 . Yes I paid top dollar , and I paid it in full many months before they became available . Do I feel ripped off by the current sale ? No way . If you are an early adopter then it's almost certain the price will drop at some time later on . Would it have been worth waiting nearly one and a half years for a cheaper one ? Nope !

Yes, the device needs a new update to solve the problem. It reached the highest sensitivity of 30-35 without any problems, according to what the company said. The device reaches levels of sensitivity that are very low.
Just depends on the ground you are on . I have some beaches here that I use up to 32 sens , this goes deep . Others I can only use up to 24 , the ground is the key . Gold detecting is more limited with sens between 21 -24 usually , with the odd quiet area 27 is usable . I am totally happy with this machine , it has made all my other detectors redundant .

Still using version one , and can see no need to update !

Abenson , I 100 percent agree with your summation . My Equinox is fully retired . One other factor for me is the superb Emi handling of the Manticore . It runs silently in places here that drive the Nox nuts .

Ah geezze Reg , I was going to post up some truly tiny Manticore gold on this forum . You have made me all shy now 😁
Ghostminer , starting a new forum would be a lot of work , and catering to an ever smaller audience as most people seem to be gravitating towards FB etc .

On the beach I dig many targets that are just a slight warble in the ground noise , no id at all . This is on target depleted white sand beach's using Beach deep , and sens as high as 27-31 . It's amazing how targets get so deep . The Manticore has power to burn , you just have to find suitable places to use that power , listen hard , dig even harder !

Goldfinger , I hope you have a small army with you when detecting in Mindanao ! It's the home of the Abu Sayef who are very prone to abductions , ransoming and beheadings . White people are a target of theirs . Even up in Luzon where my wife comes from has it's dangers . Communist separists there are nearly as bad . They often come into conflict with the authority's . Big battle there just a few weeks ago . Life can be very cheap there , take care .

No problem getting the 8" in Australia , stock in all stores . Very strange that supply is not better in the USA . Have found my 8" to be a ripper stable coil and great on small gold . Probably not quite as good as the 6" on the Nox but runs with less falsing and the extra ground coverage pleases me . Still using version 1 Manticore .

Your on some great ground there ! Love finding silver pipe bands and working out the dates . Your find is in great nick . Looking forward to seeing further finds from that area .

Ripper button F350 ! I wish there were some oldies like that here . You were very lucky to get away with the injuries that you have . So many people here cripple themselves , or in even die , falling from heights in their latter years . Get well soon , there's more of those beautiful buttons out there !

A great find that has that personal touch . Congrats

That was #16 but I've since found other.
16 Plus .....Wow ! That's amazing and testament to your skills and sites . I have found 4 and feel blessed to have done so .

Congrats on finding a great site and recovering a gold coin . Finding a gold coin is such a buzz and never gets old providing inspiration to keep on hunting . Like others here I look forward to seeing further finds from your site .

I laughed at VL's post because I assumed when he wrote they "were panning , for a while anyway" to mean they became bored and engaged in some amorous outdoor activity , getting caught in the act . I think a number of us thought the same thing , and that it's funny . Having had that sort of experience myself on a supposedly deserted beach , and with the young lady desperately trying to cover up I said " why bother , they have already seen everything anyway " ! You have to laugh about things like that . I hope VL understands where my laugh came from .

Miners Den , Bendigo have them listed with a retail price . They are taking pre orders with a deposit , so we should be seeing these coils very soon ..... after a long wait !

The opium bottle is a good find . A fair few turn up on the Chinese diggings here in in Tasmania , mostly broken . I was lucky enough to dig an unbroken one while digging a Chinese coin a few years ago . I have seen them in two colors . I know about them self destructing too ! Two that I had recovered by sieving were sitting inside on my window shelf . A hard frost one morning saw both of them shatter into little bits like the old tempered wind screens used to.
Opium tins here were made from very thin brass and measured roughly 2 x 4 inches and half inch thick . They had a small area of Chinese writing on them that I still find occasionally on some fragments . There was a brass band that slipped over the two halves which was made of thicker material so surviving better in the ground . The fragments of these tins can make for many extra digs during a hunt . Last year I dug a part of one of these tins and when I unfolded the brass sheet there was the remains of a white paper label with a red dragon on it . A few days later when I went to photo my hunt finds I was horrified to see that the red ink had almost totally disappeared ! A few days exposed to light and air had undone the 140 years preservation under the ground . Lesson learned , the hard way !

Interesting seeing these issues with the 105's . I have no trouble charging mine , doesn't take long . When I disconnect the power from mine when fully charged about 50% of the time they then go onto WiFi search . At first I did not notice the little blue light was on , and still was the next day . Wondered why they went flat very quickly at the beach ! Now I always check and often have to turn the headphones off . Seems that we will see more of these issues over time .

Thanks from me to all those who are posting their update experiences . I am carefully reading every post , and being very cautious . The Manticore in it's original form has been doing very well for me . It's beach performance in particular is outstanding , and in the bush it's pulling coins from hard hit sites . So I will sit on the fence for a while yet and try to get an overall picture from all your experiences . on here and other social media .

Lucky you ! I consider the TRX to be the best there is . I'll take a dozen at that price !

No good me going in one of those comps , I would be run down and trampled into the sand going by the speed they were all going ! Some wild swinging and a drastic lack of overlapping by my standards . On the other hand maybe I would attend , just for the scenery !
Who Uses A Pinpointer On The Beach?

Would not go to the beach without my pin pointer ! It , and my foot are both used for recovery with the pointer more for small targets like ear studs .
