With many of you in the US getting closer to having a Manticore in your hands , have a look at my pic below of the shaft ears . I received my machine a week ago and still have not found time to take it for a hunt yet . I keep looking at the shaft ears and wondering why they are so long and thin ? Surely the excessive length just adds to leverage forces that will place added stress on those 90 degree bends ? It will be interesting to see peoples opinions as the machines roll out . Also the coil cable is very thin at 2mm thinner than the superbly armored Nokta Simplex coil lead . The sexy rough textured carbon shafts look like they will hold grime very well too . Otherwise the machine strikes me as a fine piece of kit and I hope to get a hunt in tomorrow night .

No rubber in sight , but some very fine historical buttons though !

Pre orders are being filled in Aust . Would be interesting to get some idea of the numbers . Mine is in the mail so should have it next week .

Most gold bearing ground in Tassie is hard going for a detector . We grow scrub , lot's of it ! I am always watching for a bushfire to open up ground for relics and gold . A good hot fire will give about 12 months access before bracken regrowth makes for hard swinging again . Even ground that looks fairly open like some in the vid can have 6 _ 10 inches of leaf litter which knocks your detection depth way back .

Received an Email from Minelab early this week saying their Miners Den stores would be closed on the 18 - 20th of this month for staff to receive training on the Manticore . I am hoping that this means supply might not be far away . Fingers crossed !

Many months of hard usage have passed by with me using the 10x5 . Conclusion : I sold the 6" Minelab . For relic hunting the coverage and depth are vastly superior [ in my experience ] to the 6" . If chasing the smallest gold then the 6" is a winner , and the 5x10 suffers more emi . Small gold with the 5x10 .

I found an obviously old , brass ball a few years back , approx 1 inch dia. and had no idea what it had come from . A member on an Australian forum informed me it was from a steam valve . Just another possibility for your find !

They needed a pump and pipeline just for their whiskey supply !

While i have been slack in the giving of likes i have to say i have enjoyed this thread more than anything i have ever read on any forum ! So it's some sort of Super Dooper Like from me . Thanks for all the words and pics .

Waterproof thanks , i really need a deep PI beach machine . Would also want to use it on some highly mineralized relic sites . If the price and weight are reasonable they can put me down on a future pre order list right now !

Great to see a powder flask found . I love finding them and have been meaning to do a post about them on this forum , will have to extract a digit . I see no real benefit doing a reset when using my 10x5 . The occasional target upgrading by a single digit is hardly worth the inconvenience of redoing settings and i mostly dig it all anyway as long as not clearly ferrous . The 10x5 is superior in red basalt soils near here that give high ground balance values and very limited depth with the 11" , and 15x12" . It's an all round very worthy addition to the armory in my experience .

I agree with Tom's comments above . I have had one for a fair while now and find the balance so much better , separation superior and sometimes surprisingly deep . Great for working in the bushes even though it's an open coil it doesn't pick up anywhere near as many sticks as the 11" . My only complaint is mine is a bit knock sensitive but i can usually pick out the good sounds . Some coins can register one number higher also . Will be interested to see Cal's comments after trying it .

After being told a delivery date was open ended I was very surprised to find a 10 x 5 in my mail last week . Have used it 3 times so far and loving it . I suspect some of you gold chasers will prefer it over the Minelab doughnut coil also . They must be ramping up production so i hope USA supplies are on the up .

I tried to buy the 10x5 Nox coil here in Aus yesterday and found it was out of stock everywhere while the larger coils were all in stock . The dealers could not even give me an approximate time of arrival for new stock . It appears that Coiltek may have over estimated the demand for the larger coils and dramatically under estimated the demand for the 10x5 .

I have not detected a snake yet , and hope i do not . But i have detected many sand crabs with the Nox while beach hunting . They give a bumpy 2 to 7 signal that is similar to some of my small gold jewellery finds so i have to dig them .

Maybe Japanese ???

Great machine isn't it ?! My personal feeling is that recovery speed of 4 is a bit of a sweet spot in my settings for many areas , combining good depth , and separation if you slow down your swing . Interested in other opinions on this .

Two ripping answers from Chase that are worth reading again . If you are missing silvers with the Nox then you are doing something wrong . Many here in Aust. consider the Nox to be a silver slayer , in particular of small silvers like our 3 and 6 pence coins . My personal experience has been that anywhere that i have covered with other machines in the past , the Nox can find a little more . Have faith in your Nox , learn it's ways and you will do well .
