  1. I've been limited to 2 hours and 45 minutes. I do have a second battery coming in and OBN said maybe around the middle of the month he'll have my battery built. I can't wait to get a 4 hour hunt in.
  2. I got out for a night water hunter yesterday. I had hit a bunch of lead targets and the usual garbage. I did score a nice 10k ring at about 8 inches. It was easily heard with a short signature. I also hit a 14k gold chain and charm. My guess it was around 5 to 6 inches. It came up with the first scoop and the chain was exposed. It sounded like another lead fishing weight. Some of the fishing weights were over 12" and clearly can be heard. I just love this machine.
  3. I have notice some directional falsing but that was more in the water. I was working exclusively wet sand (sand bars) and was getting in all directions. What I have learned is as the battery weakens I need to readjust some settings (not like the Nox which I can run very hot and quiet). I had also reviewed Alexandre 4 bullet points but I decided to increase the sensitivity and lower the threshold to get to the deeper targets in this one area where I found the rings. I hit a few very deep nickels and at that point I switched things up to squeak a little more depth and swing slower. And then bam, gold!
  4. Gold rings number 2 and 3 today with Fisher AQ. The smaller ring was down at least 8 inches and the bigger ring was down at least 10 inches. Very faint signals and could have walked right over them. The rings were found in wet sand. This was my seventh outing with the new detector. Still struggling with some falsing. Any advice would be appreciated. Mostly from a left to right swing. I do take extra precaution to make sure I am not arcing the swing. On a fully charge battery I can run pretty hot and it will be quiet. About an hour into the hunt I need to make adjustment. Today the battery lasted about 2 hour 45 minutes using ALL METAL mode. Eventually I was running with a delay of 10 than switched to 11, sensitivity of 8, ATS was either at a 3 or an 8. I also had to lower the threshold to the point of silence. I don't like running it that way but I hit both rings in the position. I also hit a couple of deep nickels that were 12 to 14" easily.
  5. Europe also charges a VAT upon checkout. The UK VAT is 18% added to the price. I am on Rick's list for a second unit and my number is around 70-75 as a best guess, so....there are not many units left if they even make it to the 90-99 units in manufacturing.
  6. Hi Mike, the area I was hunting was very trashy so I opted for tone. I have quite a few places to use ALL METAL. I know I am losing inches with TONE but my strategy was to see how the detector performs at that location. My beaches are not the fluffy soft sand on the ocean. I am detecting the CT shoreline which is rocky, clayish, and mineralize sand and very compact. Depth is a few inches less compared to the fluffy stuff.
  7. I charged the batteries the 'day of the first hunt" , and a couple days before today's hunt. Today's hunt I did not use the 'all metal mode' at all. It was strictly TONE. OBN has me on the list for a large battery setup. A
  8. My first time out all I got was 2.5 hours before the red flashing low batter light started to flash and sound off. My second hunt was 2 hours went I called it quits due to weather. I then did batter check at the end of the hunt, the light was yellow assuming I had less than 30 minutes. left. So my second hunt would have lasted no more than 2.5 hours. Here are my setting: Volume 8, sensitivity 5 to 6, threshold 3-4, ATS 8, reject 6, mode was TONE, delay frequency 7.5 for an hour and 8 for an hour. I know the lower the delay frequency the more battery drain. When I charge, it is full charge in 2.5 to 3 hours. I left it on for 5 hours just to be safe. So my question is, what is your average battery life on your hunts?
  9. This is my second time out with the AQ. Still getting to know it. My guess the ring was 8 to 10 inches. I hit it pretty easy. I also hit quarter, a lot of can slaw and hot rocks. I was running the unit in TONE mode most of the time. I really do like it.
  10. I took a pic of one side of the insert. The other side was not much to see so I did not take a pic of it.
  11. Congrats on your gold. It is great that you told us your settings. I have an AQ coming in and it hear the setting and performance from others helps in the learning process.
  12. I don't post find often for the reason that the competition can sometimes identify where I was hunting. Some of the targets can be unique to a beach. Such as musket balls, bus tokens, other tokens, high school rings, fishing weights, the age of the rings such as signets. By the way, most of my finds have been by a Nox so they of course would not be shown here. When I do post, I mostly post on Facebook because I have a limited audience and not the hundreds of people that read forums.
  13. It is always sweet to find gold for the first time with a new machine. Congrats on your find.
  14. I think the number is around 25/26. I am around number 30 and I am still waiting patiently to get mine. The best hunting season started a couple months ago here in New England and it is a real bummer not to have one. Once I get mine, I will be posting.
  15. The is the best news I have heard in a while. Peoples safety is more important then getting my AQ. The second best new is when my number comes up.
  16. Stock coils. On wet sand using discriminations on the Excal, the Nox will easily beat the Excal. I can run my Nox in Beach 2 mode with a sensitivity mode of 24. In the water, pinpoint mode of the Excal has been deeper by at least a couple inches. The best I can get the Nox is a sensitivity of 21 often lowering it due to the waves.
  17. Joe is worth his weight in gold. He needs to be paid more per day than his findings per hunt.
  18. Very nice hunt. Thanks for providing the details and settings of your hunt.
