Depends on what the purpose is and where your working? For a person working a beach, absolutely not. For land?? The big problem is the amount of inches to seal, correctly. Take the Equinox stock coil.....that would be a nightmare.

I will say Chuck. You are tenacious like a wood tick. The MDT is a great separator of targets. 10X5 or 6" Coil VS the Stock 11X9 MDT Coil ==== Potato or Potatoe in my book. 😇

Didn't realize I should have a job with stock options to buy some detectors. [That's NO JOKE ]

I want to disagree. I recommend not only do you have TSA locks, and on ALL checked bags one cinch strap around it. Two straps is even better. It is not about creating the look of something inside. Rather stopping convivence. The true targets are bags with nothing slowing anyone down from getting inside. Also to note the airline reimbursement for any lost or stolen bag is between $3,300 per passenger and $1,742. Make sure you don't have a lopsided bag for personal cost. Even though I have never had to file a claim, the figures airlines are required to pay are quite generous and in most instances for me would be a money making venture. Dave

What would be the outcome if you had tracking GB on and could run clean at sensitivity 24?

To me all wireless headphones are not beach worthy equipment and can leave you without headphones. I think there are too many people rushing to not have a wire and missing the point of headphones. To have an advantage. If one is hunting a salt water beach, headphones to reduce ambient noise is that advantage. I have run Black Widow and Sunrays. Both do not have issues taking a splash now and then. Take a look at these if you want water proof. Tony Eisenhower Headphones.

Well I hate to ruin things. But any headphones for beach hunting that do not block out ambient noise are worthless for me. I would suggest these, and their are others. https://bigboyshobbies.net/sun-ray-pro-gold-universal-headphones

To make a long story short. In salt water there is no comparing the two systems. Tracking GB mode is the way to hunt. The Equinox can be very chatty on the beach out of this mode.

Nox No Longer Charges.. Any Advice?
midalake replied to Erik Oostra's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
The battery cost is good. But where Minelab failed again is the part where the customer cannot change the battery. EDIT: Well I guess it's not that hard! -
EMI is so much more. If one is able to hear the EMI pulses there is much more of a malfunction than just Id of the target. Depth will be severely limited as well when EMI is heard in the detector. Tom speaks of silent EMI. I would like to say it is there [not totality silent] but most people won't pickup on the subtle hints. As in, the only time you hear the EMI on the Equinox is in the all metal mode with an acquired target. Then slight pules can be heard when over the target. Even with this silent or slight EMI, loss of depth happens.

I think your right Chuck. I have an older pair of SunRays and have always liked how the cushion pads fit. With their ability to keep sound out better than other makers pads. For those who have multiple machines or like me when on the tractor [1/4" jack ] Seems like lots of bang for the buck and they have upped their game on keeping ambient noise out.

I just would like to post an update. The problem with my friends detector was the battery compartment. It has been replaced to the satisfaction of all involved. Thanks Dave
