Here's a thread from a couple years ago where I show the result of an experiment in my backyard (which is pretty EMI noisy being close to houses, especially mine!).
I think the 1/19 assumes independence of the two detectors' Noise Cancel channels. IMO that's hard to justify/prove, but I find the argument/disagreement esoteric.
I think it was installed by Minelab as a roulette wheel to keep us busy while detecting. 🤣 After all standing in one location I can place my bet and my number never comes up!!!!! Just like in the Casino. 🤣

One way to keep the price low would be to sell the AQ without headphones.
YES, and HECK YES. Don't send me another pair of crappy headphones I'm never going to use!

This question came up on another forum and you would think these days detectors like the Minelab Equinox would not have any fluke units where one was better or worse than the next.
Who said this would only include the electronics??? 👀

Equinox coil driver is run through a DC blocking cap, which can potentially age and, perhaps, exhibit losses. It's a very good cap though.
Can you explain this more???? Thanks

GOOD GOD. Is that an artillery shell? Get the back hoe!

- Been running A M. mostly here on the Gulf. So much I don't even think about it. Anyway today I met up with a good buddy on his second year with his Nox 600. Following a good ways behind I hit a few low negative items. No matter How hard I squinted I couldn't make them gold /silver. So I caught up to my pal, laid em on the sand. Hey check these with your Nox, see what ya think. He says , Can't hear a thing ! What? He's says he got nothing. Ole buddy was starting to get a little sick. Felt kinda bad. Thought a minute. I says , you in All Metal. No in disc. He switched it over. All was good. Just proves you never quit learning. Around a buck eleven, out of a surf wash.
So I am confused? Are those ear rings gold or silver?

This is my first. No one to my knowledge has found one of these. Seems to be more for sleep patterns. $299.... so it’s pricy too.
Wow, weird stuff right there!

I was wondering when you in discrimination mode if I can notch out different ID numbers at will ? I didn’t see anything saying I could. Just about all the detectors I’ve used in the past gives the user that option if so desired.
I think at this time it would do me best to download the manual and spend time reading it.

Hi Chuck
Not sure what your detecting? Beach? Like I always say NOTHING is the same in salt water, black sand and moving salt water.
Even with my two days on the machine, don't expect a pure number lock. Especially with some depth. Rather a range of numbers and checking in different directions will help.
Since the MDT will lock on shallow stuff just like the Nox, I think it is still better to listen and decide. Rather than notch and ignore.
Now if your on land, notching will work better.

Thanks Aaron I saw that but it didn’t sink in I guess. But I’ll see what it does for me in the water.
Dew, they REALLY need to get this coil in a salt water hunters hands. PERIOD! The fact it is not there already....????

Been detecting for years, but relatively new to the multi frequency game. I am experiencing a lot of ground noise in multi that isn't present in single frequency. I was amazed at how much quieter single was compared to multi. When I use multi, it sounds like there is constant iron (low iron tones) with every swing
Interesting, usually it is the other way around?

After running the MDT for just two days and seeing how good it is with target identification, there is a possibility the Impulse will be the biggest flop ever. Too blunt?

I am going to experiment with lowering the recovery speed and iron bias just to see what difference in depth/detection it makes.
For over a year I ran a user program with lower IB and recovery than 6. I checked all iffy targets before I dug. Not in one instance did the user program change my mind. It also did not produce one extra single target of gold.
Depends where you are on the beach too? If in water contact the lower IB and recovery will allow the machine to be chirpy more.
With a lower IB you will get more Iron wraparound. It will slow you down.
The real key is the target in horseshoe mode and how it sounds. Iron is very telling.

Dave,
I'm sure the ML repair center has plenty!! I know they have three of mine!!🤣👍👍
Ya, a couple of mine too. I fought tooth and nail to get them to send me my old broken ones back. All they could say is NO. Even offered to pay extra for shipping. 🤬

ColonelDan, that's great and that's what you would think/hope should happen. I may just be over thinking it and as many have stated there are so many things coming into play that could make a difference.
Thanks for the replies. It's probably nothing to be concerned about. Tom
There IS A DIFFERENCE in coils in certain conditions. My testing is not complete yet.
That is why I am running Ads to purchase coils with broken ears to further this testing! My goal would be to get about 4 coils. That should give me enough info.
If anyone see's or knows of broken ear coils available, please let me know! Dave

Can anyone help me source a good connector?
Thanks.
I would contact Tony Eisenhower, he makes headphones for the Nox. Maybe he will see this?

By bare you mean the exposed copper wire right?
Yes, your Yellow to the bare exposed copper wire.

After connecting the reds to the whites and plugging it in to the equinox there was no sound
Also one more thing I forgot. Once you have all the wires bare, hit them quickly with an open flame to make sure they do not have a coating on the little wire strands. There are examples on Youtube. I just spliced my cable two days ago and I was Red/Red White/White and Black to Bare.

Well a couple of things! That connector you have to the Equinox is a sub-standard hunk of junk. I just had mine fail and someone that knows connectors gave me the story on those.
As for your connection. It won't hurt to find out what your correct parings are if you are wrong. I would try red/red white/white and yellow to bare.
Work on getting a QUALITY connector to your detector!

OK. My testing is DONE. FE allows for better double tones on iron. It will be FE for me.

The difference between FE and F2 is that F2 allows you to go beyond the range of FE in both directions, higher and lower. There is really no logical reason to stay with FE.
FE had a limited range. F2 corrected that.
Well I don't know???/ It seems there are many here that think FE-2 has some magical sauce? So I ran both FE's yesterday in 6 and checked some more ferrous and non ferrous targets. Seems like at the beach there is no difference right now. I will keep toggling back and forth for a few more days.

Overfill, within the plastic case. That's a positive!!! Unlike my Equinox which is underfilled in several spots!
