  1. I don't doubt it. The Equinox at sensitivity 24 is quite impressive! Good work.
  2. Hi Luis. Please keep posting any saltwater examples. Coins? WHO CARES!! Why was this not a gold test?
  3. Well, no advantage yet...........still waiting.
  4. I know Steve! I was just kind of visualizing out loud. I always try to stay out of dirt settings because I just don't know. But it is nice to know what everyone does and why. Kind of where I was going. I am glad you posted that info of the difference and when I get a second will read it, probably twice.
  5. I have noticed that in any mode with Minelab's in general that large ferrous or surface ferrous hits can interrupt the detection ability briefly upon moving on. Does not seem to be an issue with non-ferrous hits of the same proportion. It was very noticeable with the Sovereign BBS units. But only slightly noticeable with the Equinox platform. I have an aluminum scoop and sometimes I swipe it at the coil to do a little reset, per say. But yes, I do think constant banging iron has an effect. And one needs to know or slow down.
  6. So I just returned from two weeks of beach working. Our area was hit with a hurricane 1 month ago. The beach I hunt normally has a moderate black sand issue for about two blocks. Then for the next mile not so bad. After this hurricane, the black sand portion of the beach was worse, and concentrated deposits were found in numerous other locations. It was highly noticeable in Tracking GB. I guess my point is: not sure how I could of successfully do a manual GB on this?? My choice was to slow WAY down, and to alter sensitivity a point or two. Most of these concentrated areas of black sand were 10'X10' to triple that size. I do have high confidence in the tracking GB mode on the Equinox. Some have alluded to the tracking GB ignoring/skipping/ or cancelling a deep target that is looked at repeatedly. Or miss it in the first place all together. I have found this not to be the case. In my experience it is possible if one is too aggressive on swing and quick repeated engagement on a deep target. The ability for one to determine what it is can be an issue. This is why coil control is so important with the Equinox. When this happens I usually back off, do a noise cancel and reengage the target. But again, this is only for the faintest of targets.
  7. Well since I only hunt salt water/wet sand here is my take on GB for that. I did lots of experimenting in the beginning, do it manually, auto, ran GB-0 and even someone's custom -9 GB program. For wet sand/water contact there is nothing better than Tracking GB Sure, could go into a whole sermon why. But the end point is, the machine is much more stable and it should allow for higher sensitivity. [at least 1 position higher]
  8. Thanks! I can tell you my question is a very serious one. It is the reason I NEVER purchased a CTX!
  9. Any one have an idea on shaft length for tall people??? Or will I have to detect on my knees if I get a Deus?
  10. The marking β€œ750” means that 750 out of 1000 parts of that item are made of pure gold. In short, it's 75% pure gold which can be called high-graded solid gold. It's good news if you discover jewelry marked 750, as it's one of the highest-graded gold alloys used to produce jewelry.
  11. I just have to repeat this [again] Coil Stiffeners are USELESS unless epoxied to all surfaces of the original coil mount.
  12. Me TOO. Another 3-4 inches of Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass isn't going to break the bank.
  13. Just think of the price the used ones will be when the Equinox turns out to be better. 😁
  14. Not sure. Lots of people putting lipstick on something that is not tested yet.
  15. I love the older Black Widows. The speakers are crisp and the sound deadening quality is the top, bar none. I do not know what year they started using new speakers, but the new ones are not even close as I have a pair of those too. I have a set of older Sun Rays that had the conversion done to universal. They are not even close. HH
  16. I run the Equinox in auto GB for all of my salt applications. It is recommended by Minelab. After some testing, it is the most stable for salt.
  17. Just an update on my Plantar Fasciitis. Feeling at 100%. Had two weeks of therapy. Dedicated inserts for all shoes. Wore the night splint. Also had anti-inflammatory's for the two weeks of therapy. Going to find out soon. Headed for a beach stunt. Will be bringing inserts for my dive boots and the night splint!
  18. We can give you lots of help. I don't know another site that has more knowledgeable people on it. Detecting in all types of conditions. This is why the first member rightfully asked for a picture/link. Is your machine new? Used? Stock shaft, or after market. Yes, sometimes it is hard to explain things correctly. Good luck!
  19. I don't have a Deus Assuming this new Deus will have some Salt Water performance. This coil charging thing, Is this port really ocean proof ,salt water impingement proof? Ocean hunting is lots of detector abuse.
  20. Gosh I am late to this! After the last few years, a Mental Detector could be very useful, MHO. Now this unit as a metal detector, not so much.
  21. No doubt Jeff. Even on a Black Sand Salt Beach. The Equinox will solid lock on any target 4 to 6" deep! Sprinkle in slight EMI too.........
  22. Heck mine had water intrusion from being showered off. Since I am plus three years, only a damp cloth now. πŸ˜’
