  1. Was going to go tonight but its too cold and i wont see where the best places are on the beach . Will wait till tomorrow .
  2. I think its safe to say it works in the salt wet . Dont forget we are getting a machine that is half the price of the CTX and faster with single and multi freqs . Beach 1 is the most important mode , i doubt i will use the beach 2 . It runs hotter and i think on higher freqs or tuned more to them . Wish the machine was out .
  3. I've been hearing late February , i hope i'm wrong . If they are in Holland by then that would mean they must be on the ship by now .
  4. The beach looks worse than i thought where i normally go , i drive past doing my job all day . I will start where i left off last time , there's about a mile of beach from there . Only trouble is that it is normally quieter . I hope my main beach has opened up a bit.
  5. Going to go back on Sunday morning and work the tide out. Looks like my usual beaches are to built up to be bothered with. I will check on the day but won't waste time. I know what I need to see and that hasn't happened for over 2 years now.
  6. Not for long i bet. Though coinage might be different ? I get around 2k each year on average.
  7. What price are they . Actually i will need that in £ . That wont be cheap !
  8. From the time i entered the hobby in 2003 to 2006 i just went to any farm or dig i could . In 2006 i started to join Metal Detecting clubs and went to quite a lot of digs but i could not keep up the expense and other issues stopped me doing digs .I left 1 club and kept the other for when i could get out which is rare right now. In 2005 i started a little beach detecting and in 2006 started to find Gold rings , i did digs and beach detecting on and off till 2010 then went all out beach detecting from there . Over the years i have spent a lot on the hobby and beach detecting has helped pay for the hobby . Over 60 Gold rings and Gold chain and hundreds of Silver rings and chains along with 5 figures of coinage has eased the costs . As soon as i can i will get out to digs again but i do have to admit the beach has me hooked . I dont find as much on land though i have had 1 Celtic Gold / Silver and Bronze coins , some Silver and Bronze Roman and around 30 Hammered coins amongst other things . Beaches do attract my attention more these days because of being close by .
  9. I remember the film Rambo First Blood , 3 of those Dogs were sent after him too !! I go to the beach by Bus and the machine goes assembled so unless they can prise it out of my hands whilst i am kicking their nuts they aren't whoever they are going to have it. Its my Baby LOL
  10. Someone i know says all the things that have been going on Facebook . Glad i'm not on it anymore . Even Facebook admin say Facebook is bad for you .
  11. Didn't know she had the Sovereign . If i had that i would hip mount the box . Though that makes it a bit coil heavy if using the S stem.
  12. I did not see your last post , missed it . Fishers are good but i dont like their build quality but they are good machines to use . I recommend Judy waits .
  13. Like all machines it will have good and bad points . It might well work well on one beach and not so well on another . I find that with the E.Trac and Explorer's . All depends on the sand type and if you live in a Volcanic area you will have trouble . Neil Jones video showed him on a UK or ? European beach and the coin was either a Euro or a Pound coin but that wont matter they are near enough the same size and come up on the Explorer about the same . Dr Tones video in Hawaii was different , he said he was running the machine hot and i suspect he was using Beach 2 program not the more stable Beach 1 . Cant go into details as i only know a little . But Neil Jones video does show that the Equinox works well on most beaches in the UK . Working well on the dry is great but Neil's video showed that he could bury a coin deep in wet sand and find it in the surf. Cant believe he left it there though , did he put that on expenses !! Until we have the machine in our own hands we are not going to know much till the release . Minelab testers are only getting the machine ready for us real testers . Thats when the real test begins . And thats the one that Minelab's hopes succeed or fail.
  14. It would depend on budget and where Judy is detecting whether a Deus is best . Its not best for the beach and isn't waterproof and is also a lot more expensive , in the UK up to £250 more expensive for a full machine. If you are very used to Minelab the tones of the Deus and i think lack of target info can slow you down . In a way its a race between 2 tortoises . Deus - detect fast come across targets not knowing what they are and dig all or Buy ET and detect slow and come across targets and have a pretty good idea what they are . I bet in a race it would be a dead heat . The Deus loves coke and hot rocks too. Saying that the Equinox might like them too . I think wait for the Equinox , its not long now aarrgh I think ?? I agree on everything about Garretts , awful weight and balance .
  15. Might still be best to wait for the Equinox. If you don't detect often and rest after a couple of hours then the ET should be fine. Depends on time between finds too. Gets to me after a while.
  16. I can wait for my machine no problem . I have 2 Explorer's and an E.Trac which do all i need , though at a weight issue ! or at least a bit. But yesterday my E 11 found another Gold so i am happy . But your right . Why announce a new machine when its so far from actual release unless its to damage sales of other makes and the sales of detectors from dealers ? And i know that to be true here and 1 or 2 dont sell Minelab so they must be seeing sales drop ? And what happens if there is a software issue that cannot be resolved and not saying there is but what if ? That will look very embarrassing to Minelab after promising a machine that will render all else or nearly all else obsolete . Smacks of arrogance . I know Minelabs are brilliant and Minelab doesn't have to convince me of that but they do have to win orders elsewhere from people that have bought other makes whilst they have been sitting on their laurels for the last few years making Gold machines and looking like they have ignored the bulk of the relic hobby market . They brought out the CTX , a machine that really wasn't the best for sales here and in many Countries compared to previous models , you dont see many of them about in UK digs and rallies and even on the beaches they are rare , saw the first one for ages last week on my local beach. The CTX looked to blingy and made Minelab look like they were trying to hard to please , they only please the few . It does a good job but you have to go round to many houses to get to where your going with it , lighter and less complicated menu it would have sold far better. Then came the Go Find , maybe it has a few interesting ideas but it was another failure here , never see them about . I know that maybe its for kids to a point but it could have been given a stronger stem and a coil cover then it would have sold very well as a backup or holiday machine. It is an almost machine ! I wonder what the 22 , 44 and 66 will have as improvements ? I also look at the Gold Monster with doubt but cannot comment other than the stem which i dont like , if you are short unlike me and bought one you would see what i mean . Looks like a prospecting Go Find . Judy , If your interested in the E.Trac you will find it hard to beat for most detecting . It has its drawbacks but they can be overcome to a point . If you buy one then buy the Gray Ghost headphones and an RNB battery pack and ditch the Minelab battery and pack , you wont look back . And if you want any help with it i will be glad to help . Bloody good machine , pity it isn't waterproof but its 99% the same as a CTX as a machine . The ET isn't a quick machine like the Equinox but the target info is still second to none and its an easy machine to understand . One thing the Equinox has going for it is that it is a replacement for the Terra's and being waterproof and multi freq and if that works as well as we might be led to be believed then it will take a massive slice of the market over the next 5 years . But Minelab need to be a little more up front with us if they are going to announce a new machine but then drag out its release like this. If they said nothing till it was ready or nearly ready all this arguing on forums and Faceache would not be happening .
  17. I am only passing on what i have heard . My mate says it came from a reliable source , still it might be wrong but we'll see soon enough .
  18. Thats what Minelab need to think about . People might start shifting to other makes . I can wait but many who need to buy a new machine might not . The Equinox is supposed to be coming to take on the Garrett AT types . Are you thinking along the Garrett line ? If so that could be a sale lost to Minelab ?
  19. Here in the UK a new GPZ7000 costs at the moment £7699 , thats down from £8495 . Crazy money if you dont have the right places to detect . In the end you buy what you need and can afford . Minelab and Garrett and others charge what they think people will pay and if people buy them then they wont lower the prices till they cant shift them .
  20. Someone i know who detects my local beaches uses a Laser Rapier and i think it has a dual processor . He was using it in the salt water with no problem and found several coins with me watching .
  21. Going by those graphs its amazing how many machines were brought out in the earlier years unlike now where it seems very few lately. No wonder the competition took a big slice of the pie lately.
  22. The UK new Pound coin is 12 sided and 2 metals like the Euro . I think he used a Pound coin . If the machine can pick that up in that depth in salt water then theres no reason to fuss over its salt wet capability anymore.
  23. I have heard today from a mate that he has seen on Facebook by someone that the Equinox is not coming out till late February . Another month . Arrghhh . LOL
