These models are a lot of fun for a tinkerer. I remember adding numerous features like ground balance and boost. I think we called them “Mr. Bill mods.” They are also the best in a bed of nails scenario.

For Those That Wanted A Waterproof Ws6 Master
☠ Cipher replied to CPT_GhostLight's topic in XP Deus II Forum
Maximum screws please! Just kidding. It looks like a labor of love to me. -
I too have been surprised at the lack of options for backpacks that will fit even modern machines without disassembly. You might consider this Nokta Multi-Purpose Backpack for Metal Detector https://a.co/d/7UMW8jb it’s 33x11.5x9

No, the brains of the operation is in the coil, with the phone acting as a passive remote. Very similar to XP machines, except Bluetooth protocol.
-
No, but I trust engineers who know more than I do, like Dave Johnson and Carl Moreland, who have thoroughly debunked these devices as junk science. I have no dog in that fight other than to hopefully help you not make a costly mistake.
-
Yes, Deep High Conductors does drain the coil battery faster than most other modes, but 4 hours on the remote seems a little too quick and most likely caused by something else.

They are a scam. You’d do just as well with coat hangars

I’m interested to hear what he would say as well.

I’ll throw my 2 cents in as well and say I doubt it would be much of an improvement, although there’s some potential for XP to develop a few digital programs for it. A cave mode would be nice. For me, the selling point is that it would work within XPs growing ecosystem. I’ve always wanted a 2 box and don’t yet have one.
-
So that’s exciting. At least it’s still in development. What could be the holdup though. Seems a straightforward project for a company like XP. No word on which platforms it would be designed around or if it will just work with all of them like the mi-6. Have to wonder about cost also. XP can be pricey, but then sometimes they can surprise you and be reasonable.

I wonder where this project is now, particularly in light of the Deus 2. Would such a product be able to work on a Deus 1 and 2 remote (ORX too for that matter)? Can’t see why not since the “brains” are in the coil. I’ve been interested in this potential product for years now, but much like the Go-Terrain app, it’s yet to see the light of day. Out of curiosity I just sent an email to find out the answer to my questions. I’ll update if I receive a response.

Correct. If you want a black antenna for the full shaft you’re out of luck so far. 65 cm is only about 25.5 in. This would be for those who want to use it for a diving configuration.
-
You can now order the new shorter black antenna from Serious Detecting while stock lasts. I just ordered mine. https://www.seriousdetecting.com/product/xp-aerial-antenna-with-65cm-cable-for-deus-ii-metal-detector/

Some Interesting News From Quest Detectors
☠ Cipher replied to DSMITH's topic in Quest Metal Detectors
Another consideration for a setup like this is you can’t get in the water with it. BT won’t travel under water and unlike the XP machines there’s no antenna to connect cell phone to coil. Kind of ironic as one of the things that stand out on the old packaging of this product was beads of water on the coil. -
A good way to remember the difference is SAT is about the strength of the signal; recovery is about the length of the signal. SAT is about tuning out unwanted targets like hot rocks while keeping good targets like gold. Recovery is more about separation of targets.

Minelab X-terra Pro Vs Nokta Simplex
☠ Cipher replied to ☠ Cipher's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I don’t see it either. That’s probably why Minelab nicknamed the X-Terra project “the tormenter.” Nokta was supposed to have the new pricing out to distributors within a few days of the IWA announcement. Crickets so far. They’ve gotta be scratching their heads trying to figure out where Simplex now fits in, in the pricing order. -
Minelab X-terra Pro Vs Nokta Simplex

In the end, it’s like Minelab said “okay, you want to take our Equinox and sell it for $500, we’ll take your Anfibio Multi and sell it for $269.” -
Some Interesting News From Quest Detectors
☠ Cipher replied to DSMITH's topic in Quest Metal Detectors
I would imagine what will sell it initially is the novelty of the experience and/or lack of knowledge about what competitor products look like. There are people who think they want to use their cell phone for this, but haven’t worked out the risks of dropping, muddying, and scratching a thousand dollar phone until the unit is actually in their hands and paid for. I personally wouldn’t use my iPhone for this. I would use a cheaper android and not until they build a top performing unit that is multifrequency, with color 2D target graphics, or spectrograph. Even then, I’m not sure I see the benefit over a dedicated rig like the Manticore. -

With Quest taking this project over maybe it will actually move. Predicted release is April-June this year at around 300 euros. https://treasurehuntingworld.com/2023/03/03/quest-air-quest-partners-with-ukraines-air-md/?fbclid=IwAR0qdLiNSW0_B7zo-EkPlwi8gq5ZA6GGlBEYSmlOzLVBSu51nalJckXgxTo -

If I remember correctly, when Multi-IQ was unveiled in the Equinox, Minelab stated that although Mult-IQ was hotter on low conductors, FBS would retain a slight advantage on deep silver and salt beach stability.

Minelab X-terra Pro Vs Nokta Simplex
☠ Cipher replied to ☠ Cipher's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
According to Dilek this Simplex line is a whole new animal. “We have changed all the hardware, software, system box, coil , frequency and went to Bluetooth.” I just wish the effort went into making the simplex a simplified multifrequency unit. A waterproof FBS or CZ style machine would give us more to scratch our heads over. a Simplex Multi would compete nicely with the selectable frequency X-Terra.
