  1. So my son gets home from school, sees the ring, and says we have to go find some more! I am thinking no way we find more silver. We find a penny, a clad dime then out pops this beauty. 1954 quarter. The first silver coin ever for me. This is all out of a 20x20 yard patch of grass , crazy.
  2. Yeah kinda crazy, tiny yard and I pulled this ring and about $1.50 in clad. Guessing it was the old clothes line. House is not that old, built in the 50's
  3. Been super busy at work recently so my hunt time is basically down to 0 these days. I am currently in a rental house (long story about floods goes here :-) ) and I had not hit the backyard yet. Had a 30 minute break between meetings (I work at home) and decided to try out the backyard for a bit. 1st target was a penny then the next target was this nice .925 silver ring! First silver with the EQ, rang up just like a dime at 27.
  4. Yes even as it was chirping and chipping, signals from actual targets still came through clearly. I just have a lot less fun if my ears are getting bombarded all the time :-)
  5. I tried the turn on and detect the first few times out and it was a chattering messing. I detect in deep south gumbo clay and once I performed a GB it was very quiet, almost thought it was not working. My finds got much better and deeper after that. I think it is very dependent on soil etc...
  6. Last night I get a call from my local dealer. My 800 is in! Asked if he should ship it or if I wanted to pick it up. It is about an hour and a half round trip but it was a no brainer, hit the road in the morning and was back around noon. Had to run a few errands so I got the Nox charging a bit and went out in my front yard. First dig was a nail, 2nd dig was a wheatie. Ok I got this, off to my sons school that is about to be demo'ed, I have super top secret access so I get to hunt the main play field. I know at least 5 other detectorist had been on this field recently, I ran into one last week with his AT Pro, digging clad and a sterling ring. I only had about an hour and spent the first 30 looking for a time capsule that was supposedly buried in a back part of the school. No luck and had to stop because the mosquitoes where draining all my blood. So 30 minutes in the field and all I got was clad but it was all 6+ inches deep. I was amazed! It was interesting because the AT Pro guy I ran into said everything he was digging was about 3 inches down. He probably cleaned off the surface stuff but I was still impressed how clear I was hearing the signals, even with no head phones. My son was with me and he likes hearing the tones. Nothing great, just clad pulled 5 coins from one small area and the amazing thing was I heard them all before we dug. I told my son "I think there are 5 coins here" and bingo out came 5 coins. Also got a fun modern token. I have not been detecting in over 3 years, this machine is so easy and fun to use, can't wait until I actually get to understand it better. Was hunting in Park 2 with just a noise cancel.
  7. It's a joke guys... You know it is coming...
  8. Hang tight and conserve energy for the upcoming XP vs Equinox wars!
  9. Rumors in one of the Nox groups on FaceBook say big announcement coming Friday from Minelab about the Nox. This announcement was framed as "good". That's all I got. Updated with exact quote:
  10. As a former forum owner/operator I think I have a pretty good perspective on all the work it takes. Thank you for everything you have done to build this great place for information sharing. It is now up to us as users to keep the vibe alive and make this a place we want to hang out. Steve, just ship me an 800 and I will take over posting and answering questions right away! :-)
  11. It is probably a solution looking for a problem but I go detecting with my son and it will be fun for him to "listen in". Usually he is just the digger/pinpointer operator.
  12. Trashy inner city parks 99% of the time with some occasional trips to the beach. Had an eTrac which I loved, sold it (long story), now excited to get an all in one detector made for heavy trash.
  13. That's true but nothing a quick lunch break can't take care of :-) 30 minutes probably gets enough charge to make it a few more hours.
  14. You can always grab one of those portable battery packs to charge your headphones and Nox...
