Thanks guys! This coming weekend I'm heading there. I'm really excited because there's definitely gold there and I talked in depth with him and he told me exactly where he was so I'm pumped. I'm going to dig basically every target and the creek produced nuggets back in the day. It's that one creek by the green trees. 😂😂

So I finally got a metal detector it's on its way the equinox 800. I also ordered the 6-inch coil. I'm going to post a picture of a specimen of gold my cousin found, he found it while working on a little creek that was known for gold back in the day. He found it without a metal detector just basically by chance looking down and picking up a piece of quartz off the bedrock. I know exactly where it is so I'm going to go to that spot. My question is should I literally just detect the whole Creek? There's also tailings piles on that Creek as well should I hit everything like a madman?

Wow, thanks everyone for the solid info! I researched the area and nuggets were found but the area was worked multiple times, definitely worth a shot though.

I'm relatively new to metal detecting tailings, my experience is more with bedrock. I've found several spots close by that are old historical mining sites. My problem is I don't know what to look for, do you go to the big cobbles or smaller rocks? I've attached a few pictures hopefully they make sense. Thank you in advance.

I'm thinking about getting a TDI sl and I have read about doing battery mods to achieve a higher voltage. This battery is only 12 volts but being li-ion it will maintain 12v for longer. I do a lot of sniping in the summer and I'm really rethinking the gold monster, this detector would be cool for hitting crevices underwater. You could potentially tell right away if you should dig.

I am really interested in the GM and I had a few questions. 1st how does it do on bedrock?That's primarily where I'd use it. 2nd I'm going to post a picture of some gold I found sniping. I really want to use a metal detector at this location. There's definitely gold there. Do you think this gold is big enough for the GM to see? And 3rd I have access to a old hydraulic mine do you think it would do ok there? My last detector was a mxt and I never did find gold with it. I'm located in Oregon
