Gerry’s - as far as I know are a combination of a buyer who didn’t like the realities of nugget hunting (the one Gerry advertised) and some ordinary “horse trading”. The others I know nothing about.

Carl Moreland will chip in if he wants, but I’m pretty sure that the new F-Point pointer (a PI machine) Carl designed is way different than the TRX which I believe is a VLF IB pinpointer.

As far as the rest, I think that Fisher has all it can manage with funding and proceeding with their own on-going development projects and given that Whites sales declined to the point where they “threw in the towel” it would seem unlikely that anyone thought that any existing Whites machine would offer a project worth throwing money at.

They have a large patent portfolio, but with a couple of exceptions, none of the still valid ones are likely to be worth much for the reasons I wrote above.

Just beginning to use it on some test targets around the yard. The notch is interesting - I could knock out zinc ones without losing nickels or dimes - much more to learn there.

One very surprising thing is this thing is really deep in AM. 3 times the discrim air test on targets sitting on the ground with a slightly negative (minus) GB setting.

Guess I’m lucky to have stumbled across one in a package with the Diablo II. It’s a “shortie” nice, but the 36” one would be wonderful.

The final production version will be so similar that apart for a couple of sections, little or no changes will be required.

Another way to look at it is with fewer than 100 sold, this manual is - like the AQ Limited - part of a strange sort of “public beta”.

Well, I went for the foil, salt and warm water method and it revealed a badly corroded 1964 Roosevelt dime - birthdate I guess.

The corner text is wrong - probably a cut-and-paste from text for the packaging of one of their other dozens of detectors.

The grey thing mounted in this is I suspect a silver coin. Any suggestions on cleaning it to see what it is?

John claims to be alive and fine - I was telling a fellow club member about the pick and mentioned that the company was closed and John had passed. The guy called me back shortly after and said he had called and asked Hodan if he was still alive (they are pals apparently) - John said he was still at large - the company is closed however.

The hammer and rock hammer are in fact Estwing - sorry about the typo.

I have a line on one of the small coils for the Demon as well one of the 15” “surfboard” coils.

Air testing the standard 10” coil - with a slight negative GB, I get about 1” (and a bit) on #9 shot and 2.5” on #6 and 10” on a nickel. 

With this weeks output, 8 units the last two weeks. Hope the trend continues and increases.

Seems to be a “thing” for gold machines. I just bought a somewhat ancient Tesoro Demon II nugget detector (20 kHz) - same thing - better on a nickel than a quarter.

The AQ is not a silver magnet. To the best of my recollection, a nickel air tested better than a silver dollar on the AQ I sold OBN.

I recently bought a Tesoro Diablo II nugget detector on local Craigslist for a really great price. I wanted a nugget machine because I currently don’t have one and I had never seen, much less owned - a Diablo II. It comes after the Diablo and before the Lobo, Diablo Micro Max, and LST. It uses the same 20kHz coils as the original Lobo and is all metal only.

The main reason I went for it was that included in the price was - A Hodan pick, a Faswing rock hammer, driving hammer, two drills and a pair of snake proof gaiters - plus a couple of loupes, a Keene “gold Magnet”. I was telling a fellow AZ Treasures Unlimited club member about this and mentioned that a while back, it was posted (here, I think) that these were no longer available because the company was no longer making them. If I remember the post correctly, it went on to say that it was because John Hodan had passed on.

I am delighted to announce that while the company is gone, I am reliably informed that John is alive and well. 

Lots of folks are very happy with their T2 and F75 and I suspect that first Texas will sell a fair number of these coils. I already have an order for one.

I just got word today that the new lightweight 15” coils are in production. I have a prototype for the T2 - it weighs 750 grams (26 oz.). MSRP is $149. If anyone wants one, I can get it shipped direct from FTP to you. 

It looks identical to the previous 15” coil - just made with different epoxy and much lighter.

I arranged for Tim to get a shippping label Monday to send the battery to FTP. They want to see and evaluate it.

The Fisher F-Point (or Teknetics Tec-Point is a very sensitive waterproof PI pinpointer. Available from various dealers at $129. Also available from me with direct ship from Fisher.

Hopefully 17 by end of this week.

The total production is expected to be between 50 and 100 units before they go to the “MkII” final version. I am the only dealer and I hope to get enough machines to satisfy my list. I expect 4 units to ship this week and hope to see a steady (but small) stream of them in the weeks to come.

Dealers can sell at any price they want - the MAP only prevents them from ADVERTISING a lower price.

It is a puzzle.
