  1. Well gambler and others who are interested. I just got off the line with this Lady from Ok. who is the distributor for White's. Now think of this I didn't buy this detector from anyone that is a dealer under them. Yet here she is doing whatever it takes to help me. I have yet to get anyone from White's that was hostile. They have got to eat humble pie each day. Here is the news hot off the press. I've got a new MX Sport coming my way and I should have it by Friday. She has a return label from UPS in there for me. I thank White's and Tom.plus all the people that work in one way are another to make all our dreams come true. Chuck
  2. Gambler Well,l my ground is milder than yours at 42 to 44. I've been waiting on a call today from White's Dist. in OK. and she said she'll call this morning .The day is not over but it's getting there. She didn't say what she was going to call me but right now I'll take anything.haha Report back when you can on your finds with that MXS. Chuck
  3. Like detectors you can never have enough and that's goes the same for gold pans. In the rain you can put one on your head and look like China Man. Well done Video and that helps the sale more than anything. Plus it all looks great. Chuck
  4. iqwozpoom To answer your question. I know both haven't been fertilized in years..The one in the country we had peanuts and watermelons but that was 60 years ago. The school yard hasn't seen any in years if ever. All you see is just wild grass. Everyone came to the conclusion that both was in mild ground and the MX Sport shouldn't had a problem with the type soil. Come back tomorrow to see if I'm going to get another detector. I'll post here. Chuck
  5. Terry I've got coins that I found from the early 1800 and most were not over 4 inches in the ground. One time I got a hit on a penny at 9 1/2 in a school yard. The guy with me his detector couldn't detect it. I started digging and around that depth the detector said I found that penny. It wasn't even a wheat penny but a fairly new one. It was at the bottom of a slope and maybe the dirt wash down on it to put the coin deeper. Finding money is great but finding old coins is better than great. For the 45 years I've been detecting I have yet to find a gold coin.but lots of silver. Chuck
  6. gambler I have a digging tool like the ad you see in Lost Treasure. The blade is off set. What I done was get a bike handle bar grip that has a big rubber ring so my hand wouldn't slip off It work good just like it came but that's me. Like everything else it's gone up in price. It will cost you 62 plus 9.95 to ship.Call 800-423-0029 ext.2 will get you one. Chuck
  7. Well I'll know the outcome for what I'm asking tomorrow. Chuck
  8. I'm sitting here waiting in the hopes that Tom will say send it back. Now if that don't happen I'll send it back tomorrow on my own. I'll box up everything I received when it came new from White's. If the MX Sport can't equal my old Eagle 2. Then why would I want it back. Oh what I want and what I get may be two different things. Chuck
  9. Perception just what is it. Perception may be beauty is only skin deep. Perception may be what's under the hood that counts. Perception may be she got the gold mine and I got the shaft. My perception is Steve was the smartest person on here when he sold his MX Sport. My perception is White's wouldn't done anything if this cat hadn't got out of the bag on this forum. Just look at the cost if they had to pay for the MX Sport be shipped back from all the dealers far and near. The reason for all the videos before hand because White's needed that economical shot in the arm to bring them back on top. Top of what you ask. White's had all the other detector companies coming out every day with something new and they being White's didn't have that going for them. Yes that is my perception are you can call it my opinion. One light in the dark may not be seen. For each light you add it will get where you can't see the dark. Chuck
  10. Well I went and done the testing in the school yard. First off I put a single penny down 4 inches. I had the sensitivity set at 9 and it detected the coin great. I then put a penny down 6 inches. I done the same as before with the sen 4 & 9. At first everything looked and sounded okay but that was over before it got started good. One time it may read a penny then it would show Misc.It never would lock on a penny with one number. It may stay in the penny range but go high to the low side of it That's if it didn't hit on the Misc again.. I check another spot and put another penny down 6 inches again. First all was well but then I get the penny one way but not a tone the other way. This may happen 3 are 4 times with a tone only one way but then both ways. It done the same with 4 are 9 on the sen. I don't know if you have this kind of trouble but with the coil out in front I get readings. The coil is about 20 inches of the ground but the detector will show a penny then Misc are foil.. It's not a tone but a pop when this happens. I came home and I check something out in my front yard. All power comes in the back of my home. So no worry there. I put a quarter on top of the ground and started my test. Oh it detected it good with the sen at 4 then 9. The problem was it would not ID the coin as a quarter but showed a dime. I had the tones set at 4 but i then change it to 01. Then every time I went over the coin the ID said it's a quarter. After a while it went to a dime then a quarter again. I found out if I go over the quarter at 2 inches I'd get a tone going into the coin and another going away. What I'm saying you get two hits on the coin with one swing.. You get the same on the back swing. Over the years I've had to send 2 different detectors in for repairs to White's. After the third time they would sent me a new detector and that was the fix. I think it's put on a test stand and if it looks good it goes back out again. I may be wrong but I don't think it's tested in real time. I paid shipping to get this detector and I paid to ship it back for the firmware update. Now if I send it in again I'm not sure if I want it back I got a shipping label from UPS from White's but my detector was already on the way. The ground balance was 42 at the school with 4 tones and the GB at home was 44. Chuck
  11. The soil I was running the test in covers most of south Texas I been detecting in the same ground with my Eagle 2 way back to 1991 without trouble I went to the school yard today but some kids was there playing ball but will try tomorrow. This is black land soil I wanted to try next Chuck.
  12. Gambler Thanks for the info on the sensitivity setting. The 10 inch coil should give you great depth with the sensitivity set at the high end.I'd think you should get another 2 inches on that same coin. The Best. Chuck
  13. Sometimes I have to go back and edit some things of what I said. I guess on what I was thinking I want to say but don't get it all in. Lots of time I'll look it over and see what I left out. The thing is this may have started out to be a love story but it's not anymore. Chuck
  14. John if you go read my other post you will have the answer. How many ways you can spell Crap? Chuck
  15. What will be told to you when nugget hunting is in some ground you got to back off on your sensitivity. You may loose some depth but your detector will run smoother Oh it not going detect as deep but what is there you can hear it. I had told myself no more testing but I'll try one thing tomorrow. I feel if you push your signal too hot going in the ground it will reflect back at you. I know if I turn down the sen from 9 to 4 are 5 the detector settles down and just maybe still get fair depth by doing this. I know my old Eagle 2 runs so smooth with the sen set at 4 than if I push it higher. Yet i'm getting coins at 4 to 6 inches without trouble in the same soil I've been testing the MXS . If it can't detect a penny at 4 inches then it's got to be the detector.. Till then. Chuck
  16. Hey Gambler What was sensitivity setting did you have on your MXS ? On my other post I ran my MXS like Tom wanted and that was the sen set at 9. I know on my Eagle 2 if I get past 4 it just won't run smooth. I have at times turn up the sensitivity to 5 but have to turn it back to 4. It just better when I do. Today I never turn it back to 4 but maybe I should have. The thing is when i couldn't detect a penny at 4 inches I had all I wanted of my MXS. Chuck
  17. Gambler It's good to see you are happy with the MX Sport. If I could get the same depth I too would be happy but that's not the case.I hope another detector will be what I've been looking for all along. I think this is odd. I received the MXS from White's double box. Then I sent it back to get fixed and it went double box. When I got it back it was just in one box with the coil loose and no packing at all. Chuck
  18. All know I've been running some air test on my MX Sport. Like I said I'd did get out in the country today for more test in sandy soil. The first thing I done was put 3 pennies at 4.6. And 8 inches in the ground. I made sure all lay flat at the bottom of the hole before filling it in.Tom wanted me to run the sensitivity at 9. I ground balance and lock it at 63. I was in the coin and jewelry program with the tone at 4. The coin and jewelry program was like it's set as it comes from the factory. I was going to start my testing but the cursor as I would swing the coil was jumping all over the place. The detector had the same trouble as before when you run the sen. up to 9. The only way I could run it like that was to put discrimination just under where nickel comes in. This didn't make it a lot better but it did help cut down on the noise . Now I hit the first coin at 4 inches and got nothing. The 6 and 8 nothing. The pennies are 2016 and I had one of them left. I drop it on the ground and got a good signal at 2 inches. Then at 3 inches would get a hit one way but not the other. Beyond that nothing. Now I started my air test. I put the detector on the ground with a board marked in inches . The first was that same penny and i could detect it at 7 1/2 but at the end it would read something else but still showed a coin. I had a friend keeping a eye on the meter of the MXS. Next was a nickel and I got it at 9 1//2 but as I got to the high side he said it showed a penny at times but still a coin The dime came in at 7 but it too showed a penny at times. My friend said maybe because it a clad dime that's just it it's not clad but a silver one. The quarter came in at 11 it's silver and the clad half at 12 1/2. Lots of time you would get Misc if it didn't show a coin ID. I just put the pennies in the ground because some were old coin and I just wanted to make sure they didn't get damage I've hunted with my Eagle 2 in the same type ground without trouble like this .I've also hunted in the black soil and find all kinds of coins at a school near my home. This is and will be my last of any kind of test run on a MX Sport. You can see I'm getting less than half of depth on the air test.of a penny. Please White's I'll be glad to send this detector back but I don't want the same back. I've been down this road before without any luck in doing that. I'm really not sure if I want any but I know it's your call. I really think I had trouble before it was ever sent in the first time but don't know. Just maybe I got a bad detector out of the box the first time and another will be what i wanted it to be. Well Tom I hope you read what i posted here and get back with me. Thanks. Chuck PS This test was done in the center of a field so not to have any kind of electrical power are Power lines around..
  19. John I've seen but never found one myself and that is gold with iron on it. This was no stain. Chuck
  20. Well John I'll lay a gold nugget down and see where it hits on the scale first. Then I'll block everything else out and now I can just see myself picking all those gold nuggets up. BULL SHOOT I knew I'd read it someplace but couldn't find it. Thanks for quick reply. Chuck sometimes my light don't shine so bright.
  21. I was reading the book on prospecting and all metal mode and it says no discrimination in either program. Is this telling me I can't discriminate anything out ? The reason I ask is because I can like if I was in the coin and jewelry program. Is it not true all programs has nothing to do with the other ? If so then why would anything turn on in another program have to do with the one I'm running in ? Wondering. Chuck
  22. Steve You had said something about that before and I look at it then. Yes it goes to 8. I understand that people need to report a problem directly to White's. That's why I wanted them to also report it here so others will know they are not the only one with trouble. With any kind of trouble on a detector you won't be the only one that's having the same. Like a court of law we don't need hearsay. You need to tell that person they need to report it to White's and here. To do this will help others and help White's to correct a problem they may not know about. You won't find any company after they send their product out the door they don't want it coming back. It comes down to profit and loss.. The loss hits us too if we can't get it fix the first time. The Best to all and thanks again to Steve for having this forum. Chuck
  23. I plan on this Friday to take the MXS and do some testing in sandy soil in the country. Where I live is black dirt but it's only about 5 inches deep. The major part of the city sits on lime stone. The dirt is put in just so you can grow grass. So I won't post anymore until then to be fair to all. I say to all if you are having trouble with the MXS you need to say it now. We have a ear that is willing to hear what we have to say. So you need to step up and speak out. Chuck
