  1. Hi tboykin White's is a old detector company and a great one that has been around for a long time. I've had a White's detector in my hands from mid 60's. This is a problem that can be fixed but not for all of us over night. Just sit back and give them time to form a plan of action. The only thing I don't understand is how we here are the only people having trouble. If I was to go coin hunting now I'll take a detector I know and trust. Just on the air test it won't be MXS. You're right on a small coil in high trash area but some may want to fight it. Sometimes it takes a lazy man to find a easy way of doing things. haha Chuck
  2. jt I have the 6 x 10 with the same problem. bowwinkles What you said I too believe it should be a total recall. The part I can't believe is with all the testing this detector got out the door at all. I would think White's would stop all sales and recall all detectors back. Some people may not know their detector has trouble and say nothing. Same electronics same program same trouble with all. Some just don't know it and be unhappy with the MXS the whole time they have it.. Chuck
  3. Potomac Run I didn't say anything about the trouble of not getting a signal one way. I think others have said something on this same matter before. I do know it happen to me to get a signal one way on a coin but not the other. This didn't happen often but had I'd been out coin hunting I may have moved on. Looking forward on hearing when we can send in our MX Sport . At this time I'm not sure I'll even take it out the door being it shows trouble already. Chuck
  4. It's great to hear something can be done to fix the problem people are having. On the air test with different coins on depth what I see wasn't that good. Even on the 10 inch coil with the sensitivity set at 8 I couldn't get past 10 inch on the silver quarter. I guess I've seen so many people doing air test and getting lots more depth than I did. I never got out of the coin & jewelry program and maybe they did. If in the field with the sensitivity too high I may not have heard the target anyway. I'll try the all metal mode next time but this is not where I want to be in the field. On the looks of the MXS is outstanding. You can't help but like the big screen and no trouble seeing what's on it. I do wish the stand put the detector higher off the ground. This way the handle under your arm wouldn't hit the ground each time you put your detector down. Chuck
  5. Hey Tom It would be great if a simple fix in the program can be made before this snow ball gets too big. The only trouble I see but I'd be more than happy to send my MXS back in to get the up date on the program. I can have it on the way back by tomorrow morning if not sooner.Haha Thanks for hearing us. Chuck
  6. If one will look at the plug on the detector on the coil side you will see 8 pins. Now I don't know but I don't think you need 8 pins for a DD coil. It may not be it but it could be a port to get in to the detector to change the program. I've said this before but when the eagle came out in 1990 I think you could send it back and for 125.00 White's would update it to a Eagle 2. I got the Eagle 2 in 1991 from Kellyco and it has never needed repair. It is the best coin detector I have ever own. I only used two programs most of the time and that was coin and coin & jewelry. It's just been in the last 8 years that I've had another detector in my hands. Before that it had to be White's are not at all. Chuck
  7. I think this has been said. When you get any coin within a 1 1/2 inch of the 6 x 10 are the 10 inch coil you will get three signals. The first is on the out side edge of the coil and one in the center. You see this more so on the 10 inch because of the size. The 6 x 10 is more compress but you will hear the three signals too. If you have a strong signal the ID will lock in most of the time. But when you still got a strong signal but near the limit of the sensitivity setting things change. I had set it on four tones starting the test. What happens is the tone is jumping all over the place and the ID will go high to as low as iron. It sounds like a bag-pipe out of tune. On the sensitivity with both coils for me I could run it higher on the 6 x 10 without a lot of noise. All test has been inside being it's colder than a well diggers back side out side. I didn't find that the 10 inch was a lot better than the 6 x 10 coil. Sen at 4 with 6 x 10 wheat cent 6 1/2 Mom. cent 7 Buffalo nickel 7 1/2 Jefferson nickel 7 1/2 Silver Dime 6 Silver Quarter 7 Clad Half dollar 8 Sen at 4 with 10 inch wheat cent 6 1/2 Mom cent 7 Buffalo nickel 8 Jefferson nickel 8 Silver dime 6 1/2 Silver quarter 7 Clad half dollar 8. I haven't done any testing in other programs. This test was out of the box with the detector on coin & Jewelry and the only thing I changed was the sen and the threshold. I did run test with both coils at a higher sensitivity and the 10 inch did better but again more noise with the gain ( sensitivity ). It may be better to have 9.5 inch concentric coil and a six inch one of the same type. Hope to get out in the field soon. I need to read more and test the settings as I go. This is funny. I went and done a air test with my Go Find 60 as I did with the MXS. The Go find was set at 4 bars on the sen. and it was as good if not better than the MXS. I don't think this would hold true in the field but that's another question. I see the trouble I have inside will run the same outside too. It may be that White's wanted to put too many programs in one detector. What i wanted was one great coin and jewelry detector. I've got more than I need in gold detectors are relic ones. I guess only time will tell how good the MXS is. It's not good at this point. Chuck
  8. I must say this is not what I wanted to hear being I just got my MX Sport yesterday. I did get the 6 x 10 DD coil with it and plan on it being the main one. I've never been happy with the stock coil that always comes with White's detectors. I'm not saying they don't have a place but where you have lots of trash give me the smaller coil. I've yet to get out to test it being it was late when UPS arrive and I had to go out of town today. I did notice if you get past 5 on the SEN. you get this cracking sound. My Eagle 2 won't do that. Maybe it would be good if White's had about a hundred of the MXS coming back in the door saying fix it. Just maybe White's would say we have screwed up bad and we need to correct the problem now. We can talk all day until we're blue in the face but you and I can't fix the problem. Send it back and tell the powers that be what it's not doing like they said it would and you want it working correct. I hope every one of you are wrong because I wanted it to be so right. You sure it's waterproof ? Chuck
  9. Fred With the cover you have on the 7000 maybe he's thinking you're running off with his girl. You just lucky you got back alive. Chuck
  10. Condor That is some good looking gold you found. The thing is when you step over that line you could become lost in space. Don't get me wrong I'd like to do that too. I just don't know who are what I like the most me and the gold. It could be just me without the gold. Just be safe and come back for another show and tell. Chuck PS A gun is better any day than a 2 x 4 but I know that's a no no.
  11. Well for the powers that be is having White's to drop ship my detector and coil direct to me. So maybe by Friday are Saturday I could come out and play with my new toy. The thing is it could be Monday before I see it but I can wish. Chuck
  12. Thanks Steve for the heads up on the opts. I've waited this long so I'll just get it from Digger. Chuck
  13. Well It's good that the headphones have been found. But I need the 6 x 10 DD coil before I send my money for the detector. I have more need for the smaller coil but I'm not saying the other is going in the trash. So if anyone knows anything say it here. Chuck
  14. Khouse We are advancing to the rear and they call this high tech. For all you young people out there that can get up and down without any trouble this what you need to do. Go get some black tape and tape over the face of your detector. You may dig more and work harder than ever before but you won't miss anything. The reward will be your show and tell at the end of the day. Chucki
  15. Khouse I understand about a fix if the need be. White's came out with the 66TR like all detectors you didn't have headphones. Well the first thing I done was drill a hole in the top and put in a headphone jack. It was for the 1/8 inch mono ear bud that I had. Sometimes you got to what you got to do. The Best Chuck
  16. I'd be happy if White's done what Steve said and that is give us a discount at the time we buy for any option items.. At the same time don't be in a rush to get the detector on the market if you can't back it up with the option equipment. You know little things like coils and waterproof headphones to go with that detector that should be too. Khouse I shouldn't have to temp fix what White's should have had available to start. I just hope your headphones don't pop off and go for a swim.
  17. I don't know but at one time I got the Garrett Searcher every time it came out. I always enjoyed seeing all the great finds people made. It has been a while from my last buy from them. That could be the reason. What can I say but that's life. Chuck
  18. LipCa I too dig all the foil at one time. I think as I get older my legs are getting longer. I find the ground is not as near as when I was young. Chuck
  19. Steve you said a mouth full when you said the opts is not out yet. The dealer didn't know the price or when the coil I wanted would be out. On the video White's showed all the MXS lined up but that's all you see. If I buy something I want it to come all at one time. This is like buying a car you get the body and the wheels may come in two weeks. Oh the motor is a opt too. Now I'm going to sell you a waterproof metal detector but you can't play in the water. Waterproof headphones and wheels are about the same being it's not complete without them. I understand I need to buy the extra coils but why should I have to buy the headphones to make the waterproof part of the detector whole. If this runs up the cost of the product then charge it. Just don't do it half way. Chuck
  20. Goldbrick That was a great video with the gold coins. With our high tech detectors we may have advance to the rear. I know myself I found more gold rings from detectors past than I do now. Like nugget hunting you had to dig all if you wanted to find out what it was. I don't know why but foil will sing out more than a coin would. This was in a time when it was no such thing as a pinpointer. I'm one that believes you can't own enough detectors. Chuck
  21. Well at this time I've put my name in the pot from Digger Bob to get the MXS as soon as the 6 x 10 coils come in. I'd had plan on being at the GPAA gold show this weekend but Rob said he didn't know just when he'd have the Racer 2. I guess I could have gone and seen the MXS but I wanted it anyway because it can swim. Chuck
  22. Steve I know the Racer shows only the numbers but every video has never shown that. Along the top of the face it shows the possibility with the ID number of what the target is. I keep asking the same thing and that's show me what the detector shows on the screen. This at the same time the detector sounds off. Just show me what each coin reads and I'll be happy. If a dime just say it shows a coin and the ID number is 79. I'll take them at their word if they don't show the screen. Over time I will learn what each number may be give are take unseen factors. Chuck
