  1. If nothing here check with Rob’s detector sales are Gerry’s detectors both guys come on here and both got something in the ad department. Chuck
  2. Desert Law The 3500 was a great detector for its time but the 5000 has so many settings added than anything before it . It’s some good used 5000 out there at a great price with extra coils and it’s going to find you gold. If you don’t want the big battery that smaller battery pack they sell works great that will fit on the side of your detector. Chuck
  3. Jim Those batteries cost just under a hundred and I want you to know that it hurt my pride to pay to ship that battery back when it should have been good to start with. Chuck
  4. I called them and then filled out the form they said to do. Later here comes a number to send with it but they didn’t offer a shipping label. I had to send it in at my cost. That battery was new and like the detector has never been used yet other than to be sure it was good . Chuck
  5. Jim You remember I said I could put a short across the battery and read 9 volts for a short while. In a round about way when you turn your detector on you put a short across that battery. It’s telling that battery it needs power so send it. When I done the same thing to the defective one it wouldn’t do it. Chuck
  6. Jim If it was a old battery I’d let you have it but that’s not the case here. The repair center should send me another but have to send this one in first. Here’s what they look like and you can see the groves on each side so you can’t put it in the wrong way. Chuck
  7. Call the repair center tomorrow and I’ll let you know after. That battery is new and never been used. Chuck
  8. As far as I can remember Whites Electronics is the only one I know that made stand’s for their detectors. Chuck
  9. If you do make the stand too wide it will hit your hip but what I’ve made now and in the past don’t. It’s whatever makes a person happy and that’s what it does for me. Chuck
  10. Yes Jim it’s two different battery packs with both looking the same. The good battery the plastic around it is not just right making it tight going in . I had the SDC when it first came out and the C batteries didn’t make good contact all the time. What would happen is your detector keep Turning it self off and on again. The quick fix was slide a business card down beside the C batteries and that took care of the problem. Like all detectors they have their place but you have to find it . Chuck
  11. Gather around everyone I have solved the mystery. One battery is good but the other is defective. Let’s start with the good battery. The good one is tight fitting going in and if you don’t give it a good push in the springs in the back won’t do it. The battery in front is not making contact and that’s why it didn’t work. The other battery slides in without trouble but it is bad . The odd thing is both batteries read only a half volt . Something must happen when you turn on your detector that turns on the battery at the same time. Both look the same when charging. Chuck
  12. I don’t know what’s going on because Texas is a hot and dry bye now but it’s rained every week after I started this post. It’s showing rain all this coming week. Oh well maybe one day. Maybe I just should go fishing but I haven’t done that in years. Chuck
  13. Jim I’ll tell you what I did do on one battery and that’s short out the battery just for a second. Then took a voltage reading and got almost 9 volts. Then went back after a minute are a little longer but my 9 volts was gone and the half volt was back. It could be they put out a bad batch of batteries being both are reading the same after charging. Theses are we call smart batteries but the dumb ones are less trouble. Chuck
  14. Jim I can tell you one thing and that 1/2 volt won’t make that SDC come on . I do believe the pack does have some form of a brain in because the charger just puts out the voltage. Something is controlling that light and saying it can’t take anymore because it’s at peak voltage. You and I both will learn something out of this. Chuck
  15. Dutchman4 Most time it’s going to read less than what it shows it should but in this case it’s not over a half volt out of 12 volts . Here you got 4 C batteries with a total 6 volts but with the drop in battery pack is rated at 12 volts with the charger rated the same. What that tells you it has to be a voltage regulator in the SDC giving you a longer run time. Chuck
  16. You could see that the Tarsacci was a well made detector when I got mine. I had said at one time I’d never sell my Tarsacci because I really liked it. The problem I see is when a detector company don’t come out with something new and if they do have it but don’t talk about it they not long for this world . That’s why I was happy to get half price for it. Detectorstuff if the next Tarsacci is a cat’s meow I’ll buy back into it and I’ll buy from you. The Best! Chuck
  17. Jim Checking the charger was the first thing I done and it’s rated at 12 volts putting out 11.87 volts. So you can see it’s doing it’s job . If and when I’m told the problem if they really know I’ll post it here. Until then! Chuck
  18. Rick Some years back I would take my mother on Saturday to every garage sale In what I call my home town.. You would be surprise how many detectors I bought. The most I’ve paid was 15 dollars and as little as 3 . More than one never had the batteries in it. I’d say the new cost of most was under 125.00 but this was 10 years back and they could have had it no telling how long. All I can say is they out there and one day you could find a Minelab 6000 . Chuck
  19. This is like watching grass grow and I don’t believe my heart can take the excitement of what the new Tarsacci will have to offer after the interview. Detectorstuff I thank you for your time spent and I hope it’s worth it. Chuck
  20. I’ve got two drop in battery packs that are about 4 months old that at first did take a charge then but won’t now . The charger is working because I checked the voltage it was putting out . The light on the battery is flashing and stops in the time it takes to change the battery. The trouble is when you test the battery it shows a little over a half volt not around 12 volts it should be. I plan on getting with Minelab come this Monday to hear what they have to say. Before you make a trip don’t depend on that new battery pack take some C batteries with you. Lucky for me my trip was just 40 miles away not over a thousand . Let me hear from you on any problem you may have had with the battery pack . Chuck
  21. Here we are wishing in one hand and spitting in the other hand to see what gets full the fastest. At one time when I bought a detector I didn’t think about buying another until 10 years are more. Now a new detector comes out every year are two and we think we got to have it. The sad thing is I’m just as bad as everyone else . Chuck
  22. Give it time true to form here in Texas it will get hot and dry . Bye then you’ll will more area you can ever hunt in a life time. When I start hurting I’ll post pictures of my finds. Chuck
  23. Now I’ll have to wait until it stops raining and for the water to run off. The next pictures shows a old bridge that dates back to the 40’s for sure that hasn’t been used in years and at one time was the only way into Seguin from the west. You can see how much the river is down and over a week ago you could walk across the major part of it.
  24. Well I was down that way today and we’ve been getting lots of rain and the river is up . The weather man shows rain all this week. It still shows lots of places one could hunt but not as many around Easter . The first three pictures is one of the dam’s and what it looks below it now.
  25. Hey Dave All my family came from Ms. including me and I was about three when I found myself in Texas. Glad to have you here and be sure to chime in anytime you wish. Chuck
