  1. It’s still out there but you have to be willing to put in the time looking for it. Another thing that’s great about gold it don’t make any difference how small it is it still makes the heart beat fast and it’s still gold. Thanks for the show and tell! Chuck
  2. I don’t know who you are out there doing a rain dance every week but will you please stop. Of all things the river is up from the pictures I posted here a while back. It’s showing more rain is coming all of next week . Any other time we’d be telling the town above us to flush their toilet’s because Seguin needs the water but that’s not the case this time, Chuck
  3. Nuggets The same thing happen to me with a new detector and it was a Minelab. So now I carry extra batteries extra detector and extra anything just in case. My trip was over a thousand miles. Chuck
  4. Redz I have to say your right on one can find are learn just about anything on the net. For myself I’ll take guys like Gerry are Rob that’s been in the field for years doing it and I can turn around asking either that I need help. Instant YT ! I do hope if you ever out there nugget hunting maybe you can get yT on your cell and that one problem you’re having you can find someone on YT that has had that problem. I’ve been at this for over 55 years and I don’t know a 1/10 of what Rob are Gerry know about nugget hunting. Chuck
  5. The only two dealers I’ve had dealings with over the years has been Rob and Gerry . You buy a gold detector from Rob he will give you extra items you should need in the field detecting. He will also give you one day training in the field on how to use your detector. You buy from Gerry he may not give you extra items to go with your detector but in turn he gives you 3 days in the field training with your detector. Both dealers are happy to give you the 15% off if you are a vet and will ask if you are one. Now if I go to the big stores they could care less if I ever learn anything about that detector I bought from them because they don’t know even less about it than you do. I’m not even sure if you are a vet if they will give you the 15 % off and it will be a cold day in hell if they ask. I was told by a Minelab dealer that if he didn’t sale a certain number of detectors Minelab would cut him off as a dealer. He’s not one now because of that. In my opinion any company that sales to the big stores could care less about you the little guy the small dealer but it was you that made them big. When you want something for less less is what you get. Chuck
  6. Thanks Rick but I just shipped it off today and it had both coils. Chuck
  7. It’s several that may live not too far from you on here and I hope they will respond to your question. Being here in Texas I’m not any help to you. The best! Chuck
  8. Wilderland Gerry is one of the best dealers around and he’s not going to lead you astray. If you get out nugget hunting with that 900 play it safe and dig every signal. That’s just my opinion and make it low and slow. If you find any nuggets that’s too small just mark them and I’ll come behind you watering them so they’ll grow. Glad to have you and best of luck in the field. Chuck
  9. Why don’t you go to the classifieds section and put WTB a 5000. I’d say this is the best way to find what you want. Chuck
  10. If nothing here check with Rob’s detector sales are Gerry’s detectors both guys come on here and both got something in the ad department. Chuck
  11. Desert Law The 3500 was a great detector for its time but the 5000 has so many settings added than anything before it . It’s some good used 5000 out there at a great price with extra coils and it’s going to find you gold. If you don’t want the big battery that smaller battery pack they sell works great that will fit on the side of your detector. Chuck
  12. Jim Those batteries cost just under a hundred and I want you to know that it hurt my pride to pay to ship that battery back when it should have been good to start with. Chuck
  13. I called them and then filled out the form they said to do. Later here comes a number to send with it but they didn’t offer a shipping label. I had to send it in at my cost. That battery was new and like the detector has never been used yet other than to be sure it was good . Chuck
  14. Jim You remember I said I could put a short across the battery and read 9 volts for a short while. In a round about way when you turn your detector on you put a short across that battery. It’s telling that battery it needs power so send it. When I done the same thing to the defective one it wouldn’t do it. Chuck
  15. Jim If it was a old battery I’d let you have it but that’s not the case here. The repair center should send me another but have to send this one in first. Here’s what they look like and you can see the groves on each side so you can’t put it in the wrong way. Chuck
  16. Call the repair center tomorrow and I’ll let you know after. That battery is new and never been used. Chuck
  17. As far as I can remember Whites Electronics is the only one I know that made stand’s for their detectors. Chuck
  18. If you do make the stand too wide it will hit your hip but what I’ve made now and in the past don’t. It’s whatever makes a person happy and that’s what it does for me. Chuck
  19. Yes Jim it’s two different battery packs with both looking the same. The good battery the plastic around it is not just right making it tight going in . I had the SDC when it first came out and the C batteries didn’t make good contact all the time. What would happen is your detector keep Turning it self off and on again. The quick fix was slide a business card down beside the C batteries and that took care of the problem. Like all detectors they have their place but you have to find it . Chuck
  20. Gather around everyone I have solved the mystery. One battery is good but the other is defective. Let’s start with the good battery. The good one is tight fitting going in and if you don’t give it a good push in the springs in the back won’t do it. The battery in front is not making contact and that’s why it didn’t work. The other battery slides in without trouble but it is bad . The odd thing is both batteries read only a half volt . Something must happen when you turn on your detector that turns on the battery at the same time. Both look the same when charging. Chuck
  21. I don’t know what’s going on because Texas is a hot and dry bye now but it’s rained every week after I started this post. It’s showing rain all this coming week. Oh well maybe one day. Maybe I just should go fishing but I haven’t done that in years. Chuck
  22. Jim I’ll tell you what I did do on one battery and that’s short out the battery just for a second. Then took a voltage reading and got almost 9 volts. Then went back after a minute are a little longer but my 9 volts was gone and the half volt was back. It could be they put out a bad batch of batteries being both are reading the same after charging. Theses are we call smart batteries but the dumb ones are less trouble. Chuck
  23. Jim I can tell you one thing and that 1/2 volt won’t make that SDC come on . I do believe the pack does have some form of a brain in because the charger just puts out the voltage. Something is controlling that light and saying it can’t take anymore because it’s at peak voltage. You and I both will learn something out of this. Chuck
  24. Dutchman4 Most time it’s going to read less than what it shows it should but in this case it’s not over a half volt out of 12 volts . Here you got 4 C batteries with a total 6 volts but with the drop in battery pack is rated at 12 volts with the charger rated the same. What that tells you it has to be a voltage regulator in the SDC giving you a longer run time. Chuck
  25. You could see that the Tarsacci was a well made detector when I got mine. I had said at one time I’d never sell my Tarsacci because I really liked it. The problem I see is when a detector company don’t come out with something new and if they do have it but don’t talk about it they not long for this world . That’s why I was happy to get half price for it. Detectorstuff if the next Tarsacci is a cat’s meow I’ll buy back into it and I’ll buy from you. The Best! Chuck
