Snakes, Thorns And Other Causes For Concern
Ridge Runner replied to Rad Rocks's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
If people would remember do not step over a rock but step on top of it and then step out away from that rock. Bye stepping over that rock you putting your leg right in front of that snake and he’s going to get you. Bye stepping on top of that rock and step a ways off you have a good chance of being out of range of that snake hitting you. The best investment you will ever make is buy yourself some good snake guards. Above all boots is the only thing you need be wearing nugget hunting. Chuck -

Manticore Coil Options (m-8, M-9, M-11, M-15)
Ridge Runner replied to Gerry in Idaho's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
Guys I found out long ago that a little of something is better than a lot of nothing. Now I’m not saying you should be happy with it but for now I guess anything is better than nothing. Guys if you come here the conclusion I said about the same in both paragraphs you’re right. It’s just no easy way to let you down. Chuck -
Rob has them on his forum I guess I should say in his store . Plus a list that Doc makes that Rob sales. I haven’t seen anything that Doc puts out yet that ain’t worth the money. Chuck

All About Long Range Locators
Ridge Runner replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Some years back I ran across a guy who said he had located something but he wasn’t sure what. The location was about a mile south of Rich Hill. Each day he would come and dig then I’d see him go home I guess. The last time I was there he had a deep hole going but he keep coming. After 4 or 5 days I didn’t see him anymore. I come to the conclusion the nugget was so heavy getting it out of the hole that he pulled something and that put him in the hospital. He knew where I was camped at and the truth be known he realize he got the shaft for buying that trash. Chuck -
Legend Vs Nox In Goldfield Mode
Ridge Runner replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Jeff I have the Legend and I thank you for your time plus the setting that came with it on nugget hunting. I was wondering if you ever had your hands on the Gold Monster 1000 . If so with both having the 6” coil who may be on top comparing the Legend against the Monster. Thanks again! Chuck -
I’ve looked online to see just who is selling the AQ LTD and I found it’s more than just Kellyco that’s got them for sale. I found out real quick that each have the same price and it’s take it at that price or walk away. If it’s anything like Whites TDI I’d never dug so deep for a target than I done with it . Chuck

Snakes, Thorns And Other Causes For Concern
Ridge Runner replied to Rad Rocks's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
The snakes on the ground is not so much a problem as the ones that will walk up behind you. When nugget hunting I really like to have my headphones on being my hearing is not as good anymore . Think of it this way It would be better for you to miss that small low signal than to lose your life. I don’t care if you’re male or female we just don’t need to be out there alone anymore. I don’t know if my wife loves me are she just don’t have enough life insurance on me that she don’t want me going it alone anymore. Hug your wife and kids everyday but be sure to tell them you love them. Even like my oldest son just turned 56 I still do it. Chuck -
Snakes, Thorns And Other Causes For Concern
Ridge Runner replied to Rad Rocks's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Down here in South Texas we do have some large rattlesnake but yet to have one try to bite me. I don’t know why other than they scared the living you know what out of me and that snake knew he’d never get that bad taste out of his mouth if he did . Chuck -
Gerry Would you say with all the settings the Manticore has to offer and you had the 8 X 5.5 it would out perform the Gold Monster 1000 running at 45 Kh? I know the Monster is somewhat a simple machine as in most would say a turn on and go machine. Bill Southern has a great video on it and watching it one time would give you a head start in nugget hunting . I’m just wondering if it’s really worth paying the difference if all you had planned on using it for was nugget hunting. It already comes with two small coils that’s ideal for nugget hunting. My reasoning for asking this question is I’m thinking about getting a VLF detector for nugget hunting and I don’t have the need for another coin machine. Another thing is bye the time you get that small coil for the Manticore you in almost twice the price of the 1000. That’s give are take a dollar are two. If anyone can answer my question would be you and a honest one at that. Chuck PS Maybe try Nome Alaska one more time. They got something like a bed and breakfast I want to try.hahaI

On The Beach. 5 Hunts With The Tar
Ridge Runner replied to Dancer's topic in Tarsacci Metal Detectors
JCR That Dancer is going at it with the machine that has served him well in the past and will do so here after . Of all the detectors I’ve sold the Tarsacci is the only one I regret selling. I will buy back into it when it comes out with something new. I’m not sure 🤔 just what that is. Chuck -

Memory Lane On The Tarsacci
Ridge Runner replied to Ridge Runner's topic in Tarsacci Metal Detectors
I emailed a dealer the other day just to see if maybe he knew something or even talked with the powers that be. I left this space so I could post all that he knew. If you’re having trouble reading it is because he didn’t know more than you and I. Sad as it is that’s it in a nutshell. Chuck -
John I don’t know how the weather is for you up there but down here in South Texas it’s hotter than two kinds of hell . It’s not that I’ve been there it’s just a roomer that I heard. Got my coat out for the week being it’s going to be in the low hundreds this week. Keep coming with the gold pictures. Thanks! Chuck

Help Me Pick A Detectorist Vanity Plate
Ridge Runner replied to afreakofnature's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I tell you that Gerry got a face only a mother could love but we love him because it’s got a big nugget stuck in it all the time. It’s funny how things get sidetracked from the original subject. Chuck -
Snakes, Thorns And Other Causes For Concern
Ridge Runner replied to Rad Rocks's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Above all the dangers that’s been talked about here is man wanting something for nothing. It’s the guy with a big smile on his face that you think you could trust forever but that’s not true. I know of one person that got killed in Arizona and they still don’t know who done it. It really don’t pay to go it alone anymore! That’s the sad truth of it all. Chuck -

Old Moonshine Still Location Question
Ridge Runner replied to maxxkatt's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
In about 65 the biggest still sites ever discovered was found in Mississippi. I remember seeing pictures of it but don’t remember what county it was in . My Dad did run moonshine and may been a customer more than a runner. I do know my mother and him parted company long before this took place. I’d say you’re going to find more trash around that site you found than money. The people working it most didn’t have a pot to pee in are a window to throw it out. They were working for the man and he didn’t get his hands dirty. Chuck
