  1. Yes. Via USB according to Minelab. The user manual reflects this.
  2. Well, I think anyone could have spotted the PBR on the surface. ?
  3. Welcome to the forum...the BEST Equinox forum! If you do a search, you will find a lot of posts about Equinox depth indications. The reality is that the depth indictors are based on a specific target, and lying flat underground. Anything else is going to diverge from that depth indication. Most of us don't really use the depth indicator at all, but rely on aural indications of both search and pinpoint for better depth resolution determination. I have never seen a detector that accurately determines depth of more than a couple of specific targets. It simply isn't finite. The only time I believe the indicator is when the target is very near the surface, and it's showing one, maybe two triangles.
  4. In my case, I originally ordered the 800 and then bought the 600 that I could get immediately. We are a military family and move frequently. Our permanent home is on the Florida Space Coast. I will be leaving my 600 in Florida, where it will be primarily a beach and saltwater machine, and like Dave...a backup for my 800 that will move with us wherever we are stationed. That way I don't have to pack or ship my detector to Florida whenever I'm going to be at our permanent home. No brainer, really.
  5. I don't remember what model my first detector was, but I DO remember that it was a White's, Then Garrett's, and now after drooling over Minelab's for years, I will have two! Too long ago...and the brain cells are going faster than they are being replaced!
  6. Count me in! I love old books and magazines like those.
  7. Finally #1 on my Dealer's 800 list, and he's expecting to ship this upcoming week. Full military discount and Priority Mail for Military as well from him! Worth the wait. Ordered on March 13th. USADetectors.com John is great and a strong supporter of military and vets!
  8. I only run through single freq's to interrogate a suspect target before having to dig. I also use the pump method in all-metal for those questionable target signals. I think there have been recent studies and tests that indicate that using single freq for hunting has not been shown to be as effective for virtually anything over multi-IQ. I could be wrong. (There's a first time for everything...?)
  9. I made sure that I was #1 on my dealer's waiting list for ALL Equinox accessories and coils as they come available. No need to prepay, but will be first out the gate when he gets any of the coils and other items if I choose to purchase as they get released.
  10. Yikes! Where's my Ibuprofin? You've made my brain hurt!?
  11. That is exactly the problem. The EQ can have a relatively fast swing speed when using wired headphones or speaker. Having to slow swing speed using 40MS headphones defeats the high speed capability of the detector. That may not matter to most, but it does to me, because that is one of the best features of the Equinox. Allows for covering more area quicker when there is no lag.
  12. The ArchMage SoundClean 9's are very well made, and fit large heads (like mine) well. Sound quality is excellent, and the fit and finish is on par with much more expensive headphones. They are comfortable to wear, but as I stated in my opening post, in the heat you will sweat and the pads should be cleaned after use to avoid deterioration. Very happy with them...just not for detecting due to my sensitivity to any lag. Frank
  13. Nope, because I had those MPOW supposed LL headphones that were definitely not, and would not pair to the "+". They had serious 100ms lag. The ArchMages were clearly LL capable and immediately paired with the 600 with LL "+". BIG difference in the lag, but for me, still discernable. BTW...shouldn't you be in bed??!! You're on nights right now, right?? Frank
  14. When my 800 arrives, I will check again with both the ML-80's and the ArchMage's. I don't really need APTX or wireless for my 600 though, because once the 800 is in hand, the 600 will be dedicated to Florida beach hunting, and probably with the WP phones, wired. Frank
  15. Steve, the problem is that the comparison is with audio-video, which is entirely different from coil sweeping. I found that in order to more fully "see" where my EQ is signaling, I had to significantly slow down my swing speed. Otherwise, the coil would have already passed the signal when it is heard....requiring backtracking to determine exact positioning. I did test the LL headphones with video, and like the YouTube spot you linked to, I could discern no lag. That is not the case, at least for me, with the detector. I have a pretty "tuned" ear for that kind of thing, as a helicopter pilot, and long-time voiceover artist where I have dubbed foreign movies into English. For me, LL was just not quite right. I'm sure it is no problem for others. I expect the WM-08 will be better.
  16. Yesterday, I used my APTX LL headphones exclusively for the first time during a 90 minute hunt with my 600. + sign indicating paired LL was active and all working well. What I found though was that the Low Latency lag of 40ms is still quite noticeable, and slows down recovery of finds. Maybe I'm oversensitive to lag, but there is clearly a difference between wired direct (or speaker), and APTX LL. Having to backtrack for a signal that was just heard, and finding that exact spot again is a little frustrating when I'm used to instantly seeing the position of the coil when hearing the detector signal on wired HP's or on speaker. Waggling is also slightly different. The hands-free, wire-free benefit is certainly good and convenient, but for me, it just didn't feel right at 40ms lag. At this point, I will probably NOT use LL headphones except when it is absolutely necessary for whatever reason. I think that the WM08 that will come with my 800 will likely be a much better solution, with a 17ms Lag vs 40ms with LL. Certainly, the LL's are a big step beyond 100ms BlueTooth, but still not "just right". As for the LL Headphones...I own the ArchMage SoundClean9's ($45 at Amazon), and they are really nice, comfortable, and sound great. They have a 50 hour operational capacity following a full 4-hour charge. They fit my big head, even over a Minelab baseball cap. There are a lot of "Pro's" about these headphones, but also a few cons that will be found in other headphones as well. Hunting in high temperature, high humidity areas like Florida, I am concerned about the longevity and durability of the ear cushions as they are saturated by salty sweat while hunting in the field. I think the only real solution is pure rubber cushions, which would obviously not be as comfortable. Not sure if any manufacturer has a real solution for this problem. The ArchMage headphones controls are well located, and they work well, but are not raised and palpable without knowing exactly where they are while wearing the headphones. Not that big a deal, but raised buttons would have been a better design. I do really like the headphones, and may use them wired in cooler conditions when warranted, without APTX...just direct. So...this is all just my own $.02. Others may differ...but most importantly, this is my 200th post on this forum, and now I'm SILVER!!! ?
  17. After some research, I found that the US Air Force button was manufactured by L&R Metal Products Corp, Bronx, NY. Likely from the late 40's or early 50's. This button was primarily manufactured by Waterford, but L&R also had a limited production of them. If the reverse still had the actual attachment, it would have spelled out the L&R company name around the rim. I love solving puzzles like this! Now I just need to find out what the Fleur de lis large button was from. I can't find an identical design anywhere online.
  18. Spending the summer at our permanent home on the Space Coast of Florida with my 10-year-old son. Can't wait to take the 600 out to the beaches near our house. The 800, when it finally arrives will be kept in Oklahoma, where my wife is stationed in the AIr Force. The 600 will be pretty much a dedicated Beach hunter in Florida.
  19. LOL!? Sigh...I'm still #3 on my dealer's waiting list for the 800. The 600 is doing well in the interim though!
  20. I'm hoping he lets us know the total at some point. Should be interesting!
  21. This is all really good info on the nickels, and as SteveG has pointed out, deciding whether or not to dig on iffy nickel signals is highly dependent on the location. In the areas I'm currently working, there is no sense in expecting war nickels, so I'm pretty much locked on 12-13 to dig, and from the posts above, I will no longer dig on 14 flashes while hunting these vacant home yards. Frank
  22. I'm starting to build a pretty good collection of Matchbox and other toy vehicles I keep digging in residential areas. Amazing how deep some of them end up considering their size.
  23. No, I got the pennies early, and with limited time, I really wasn't interested in pennies...of any kind. Just ignored 18-21, but even so, I dug some coppers that were indicating up to 24 TID.
  24. I had about 90 minutes around lunchtime on Sunday, while my wife and son were out shopping, to hit a couple of the vacant military family housing units within walking distance of our house. THese houses are scheduled for demolition this year, and were built between 1958-1964. Two small front yards on Park 1, NC, GB Auto, 20 sens, APTX LL phones, Ferrous 1, 50 tones, 3 recovery. I actually ignored what were likely pennies after the first half hour. Looking for better. Ended up after 90 minutes with one Silver 1951 Quarter, 2 wheaties, four clad quarters, six clad dimes, one nickel, and six copper pennies. The unusual was a 1940's-1950's US Air Force button, and a Fleur de Lise (sp?) Large button from the front yards. Happy to have hit silver again within 3 minutes walk from our house, and a military bottle opener as a final bonus! Lovin this 600, and can't wait for the 800 I still have on order! 10 days to go before we move from this base in Florida to Oklahoma. Hopefully, virgin ground on base there as well!
