  1. I've seen "plugger" brand one and two piece carbon fiber shafts for the Equinox on ebay as well. I believe they use the factory lower rod and cost around $80-$100.
  2. I was looking at the golden mask shaft and wondering if it could be made to work with the Equinox. Nice mod, love how compact it collapses!
  3. So, I think I have headphone covered for my planned adventures this year anyway. I have some ATP-x LL Trond that I've been using most of the time and will probably continue to for land detecting. For wetter use, but where I don't expect to go in too deep, I have a pair of ATP-x IPX7 waterproof ear buds. I'm curious if anyone else has tried Bluetooth with the module under water? I've done a little testing by putting my 600 in my hot tub and was surprised that it seemed to work fairly well until it got a foot or so under, then started breaking up. This was a very limited test though. Finally if the Bluetooth just won't work, I took some headphone (these, can't believe they sell them for $40 ) that I got free from kellyco with my first detector and "waterproofed", (or at least water resisted) them up. I got a four pin M12 adapter like this (only my is all plastic), the four pins had screws for the wires, but remove the screws and the pins come right out. There is another hole dead center, which I used as my drill guide. The 7 cable gland on the back was big enough that when I carefully cut the rubber jacket off my headphone, all the little components fit right over of the jack. Then I drilled the connector so the jack body could fit. I got a couple o-ring from my local hardware store that fit over the jack and inside the body of the connector quite tight and centered perfectly. Test fit to get the jack deep correct, then used silicon to secure and seal the back of the jack inside the connector. installed the shell and gland parts and sealed with silicon sense the headphone wire is too small for the gland to seal up. I sealed up the headphones themselves by taking the foam cover off and using aluminum duct sealing tape over to cover the grill, then took the phones apart and covered the wire connections and back of the speaker with silicon (wondered if this would effect the sound much, but didn't really seem to). Put them back together and put the foam back on and called it good enough to see if I like water detecting or not.
  4. Steve, How do you like the take down scoop with the stainless steel lip? That is one I was considering.
  5. Incredibe! I have to admit that I was a bit jealous of your finds before, now I'm totally jealous!
  6. Well, I do know that some of the bottom I'd be dealing with is sand and zebra mussels shells. I recall in a conversation I had with a water detectorist last year, that the zebra mussels shells are a pain, but I don't recall exactly why. I'd think you'd want as big of holes as possible to allow the shells to pass through. If you use a sifter, what do you use to scoop?
  7. GVOL, you make some nice looking scoops, what design have you found works the best? I haven't ordered one yet, but I found a place that has a RTG 6 in aluminum scoop with stainless steel lip in with the travel handle, I like that combination of features.
  8. I don't know why they would do that, there are plenty of good APT-x LL headphones available now. I got a pair for $50 before my 600 even arrived.
  9. The WM 08 is not a Bluetooth module. You don't need the module to use Bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth headphones pair directly with the detector. You might need to find directions for the black beat fit to see how to get them into pairing mode, but first try this... Turn on your detector, push and hold the wireless button on the right side for 5 seconds, you should see the icon start to flash rapidly. Then turn on your headphones. The detector first looks for the WM 08 module to pair with for 15 seconds, then it looks for Bluetooth, so after 15 seconds you will see the Bluetooth icon start to flash rapidly. Make sure the headphones remain near the detector and they should pair up after a minute or so. After they pair, then they will reconnect automatically when you turn both on.
  10. So, one of the reasons the equinox appealed to me was because its such an all around detector, including being able to use in the water. So, now that I have a waterproof detector, I'd like to try doing a little freshwater lake and river detecting. I don't want to spend a lot on equipment since its not something I'll be doing a lot of. I was looking at the Quest Scoopal anyone have an opinion on it, or recommendations on something else? What other equipment do you need for water detecting?
  11. Wow, I can't imagine getting that much clad! I got 25 coins this morning in about 1 1\2 hrs. Including a standing liberty quarter and a buffalo nickel and was super happy about that. I do agree the separation is incredible!
  12. Got out this morning for an hour and a half with my equinox 600. Got 25 coins mostly clad, but did dig this clip, almost thought it was junk, but saw the rim of a coin in it. Once home pulled the coin out, turned out to be two, a well worn standing liberty quarter and a buffalo nickel! This is my first dug buffalo nickel.
  13. Yes, you can use other Bluetooth headphone or earbuds, but standard Bluetooth headphones have a time lag, so you will want to look for ones with APTX LL or ATPX. For the best performance with the Equinox you want Bluetooth with APT-X LL (Low Latency). The next best performance is Bluetooth with APT-X. There are several headphones with APTX LL, but earbuds with APTX LL are harder to find and more costly. For my 600, I got a pair of TROND TD-BH01 they are APTX LL and seem to work well. I'm have a pair of APTX earbuds coming today that I got to use in wet conditions as they are waterproof to 1 meter.
  14. Thanks! I got mine today too, it will come in handy!
  15. I only started metal detecting last year, so I haven't found many good finds or even many nickels for that matter, but I did find a 1939 D (key date) in good condition. At that point I hadn't found any silver yet, so I traded it with my Dad (who has been collecting coins nearly his whole life and didn't have one of these) for a few silver coins.
  16. Field 2 default is set to discriminate out ID's -9 to 2, so I think you need to go to the Accept/Reject setting and use the (-) and/or (+) to navigate to segments 0 and 1 and press the accept/reject button to add those back in to the accepted ID's.
  17. I have some high power lines running several hundred yards from my house and when playing out in my front yard with my 600, I noticed the same thing. Multi was a bit noisy, but still could use it, switching frequencies, 5k was terrible, very noisily and noise canceling again did nothing to improve it. 10 and 15 were fine.
  18. Awesome coin and a big congrats!! Hope to find one like that myself some day.
