Ace Apex Production Announcement
Dances With Doves replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
I wonder how deep the Apex would be with the NEL tornado coil? -
The vanquish models get you hunting with MF without having to spend much.It seems to have good performance at a good price and the average hunter can learn to use it fast. The extra price for waterproof models is because of the extra price it cost to make them waterproof and to maintain those machines under warranty that need fixing.I water hunt so I like the Nox plus it can do much more then the vanquish. It seems to be able to be a good backup if the Nox goes bad.

New And Need Equipment Advice
Dances With Doves replied to ziessen's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
If you can improve your turf gold methods that give you better odds then that is a big deal. If you can go from lets say 1 gold target for every 300 junk targets and improve it to say 150 junk to gold then that is good and the more so with the price of gold at around $2000.A good method of hunting plus a good location will improve your odds for gold.Turf gold is tough and you need all the help you can get and you must focus on it to get good results.I have not focused on it and I have not got it since Oct. 2018.I focused on the turf one year and got almost 20 and got more in the turf then in the water. It happened only that 1 year. -
I like your timing. When the price of gold gets hot so do you.

$215 Aluminum Duck Bracelete
Dances With Doves replied to Dances With Doves's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Just google duck bands on ebay and you will see a ton of different ones. You learn something everyday.Should be a lot of bands in your bay. Next time you find one you can put it around your neck like the duck hunter do.They put it on the lanyard of their duck calls.Your AQ seems to be calling in a lot of gold for you. -

With there marketing and it being MF and cheap it will probably be the best selling machine In North America for the next year. -

$215 Aluminum Duck Bracelete
Dances With Doves replied to Dances With Doves's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Have any of you detected any of them? Or maybe you were like my friend and had no idea until I told him what a great find he had made. -
That is what my friend got for a 1934 biological survey duck band 15 years ago. That is for less then a gram of aluminum. I have found 4 of those old ones on land with my machine plus 2 more modern ones in the water .I even got a goose band from the 90's on a river bank. I called the goose one in and got a paper with the history of the bird of where it was banded and when and where I found it .I called in one of the more modern duck ones I found in the water and they only give you info online now.I even got 4 hunting with a gun and one was banded in Maryland by the big bay and was taken (A very old bluebill) at a pass shooting spot between Lake Ontario and the St.Lawrence river on a grassy hill. I even called the old ones in and they could not find any info. Metal detecting is like a box of chocolate and you never know what you will get.

Hi Obn.How many pieces of gold have you found this year that were under 2 grams. Out of the 13 gold I have found 6 are 10k for sure and one is rose gold and unmarked that are under 2 grams. I call all10k gold under 2 grams with no stones or cheap stones pop corn gold as they are a snack until something better comes along. Chains and stud earrings are not included here for they are in there own category because of how tough they are to find.Maybe I need to come to your bay for the big stuff. I could be a lookout for you for the bull sharks.

Cuniagau Without A Ring...
Dances With Doves replied to cuniagau's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Great hunt. You got a Yukon Cornelius special (Silver and Gold). -
That is a nice ring with some heft to it.The big lake was a little choppy today so I hunted in close where the currents were moving at a good pace. I got a .71 gram thin ring that barely fits on my pinky with a heart shape clear stone at 10k.What would you call these rings? little sissy. It brings me at 12 for the year.I got a silver earring with small stones too.I am beat from hunting in these conditions but it was satisfying getting gold even if they are dinky.

On a place where British torries were said to have hid I found a electric guitar inside it's protective case. This was a very steep hill with a narrow top.I thought I has a treasure chest at first .The case could not protect it from the elements as it had damage to it.The kid who buried it even wrote a note inside the case warning to stay off this hill or they would get a musket ball to the head.He must have read about the history of this place. You never know what you will find.

First Gold Chain(s) With The Nox
Dances With Doves replied to Compass's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
I got a gold chain last year and it gave me a 2 id in pk2. -
With the quality of the targets at your Ghost town spots that alone is a good reason to get one.You can also use the beach mode if the ground is wet and salty in some of those spots.

I like Cal Cobra's videos, have him do one so we can hear what he is dealing with.

First Gold Chain(s) With The Nox
Dances With Doves replied to Compass's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
Chains are tough targets and getting 2 in a day makes it a fantastic hunt. The last 2 gold looking chains stuck to a magnet for me so I am glad you got the real thing. The last gold I got were those ugly rapper gold bridges at 5.8 grams, but gold is gold so I will take them all day long. You deserve A prime rib dinner after that hunt. -
Do you guys ever use 5kz. for silver coins? Also I have had my xterra up average on targets and that can be a pain sometimes and sometimes I don't care because it would do it at 5" and deeper, so in some spots I would dig these because it can be gold or a old nickel or a nice button. The new Turkish machines are also are waterproof so that is a big plus since I like to water hunt.If the Turkish machines are deeper that could be a plus for very deep siver the Nox just can't hit in normal ground.I actually got over a 100 silver coins with the xterra 70 and the 10.5" 7.5 kz. dd coil in a year so that is why I am interested since the Turkish machines should do better.

After The Storm Gold
Dances With Doves replied to Joe Beechnut OBN's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
The rings OBN finds would get a premium over melt.I found gold bridges that were at 5.8 grams today so something that ugly is only good for scrap.I also found a 1.1 gram ring marked CI316 that had small stones that could be diamonds since they had flaws.I think the ring might be stainless. The ring hit a tid of 1 which is the lowest ring # I have gotten with the nox and it was deep.I found both targets with gold mode 2.I love that zip sound. The storm only gave us rain where I am. -
