  1. Has anybody done better with the Turkish machines on US silver coins in a park setting?
  2. Yes, I was using the concentric.I went to the beach I got only 1 penny 2 month ago today and I only got a penny today again. The charcoal hot rocks are every where on the beach and the size of the beach makes this combo not work to good.I have a little hand sifter I got from a crock pot that has small holes and I went in the shallows today to see how the beach was.I only went knee deep because I could not get wet and the storms seem to bring most of the light junk on to the beach.I got a nice zip hit and got a clad ring on my first water dig with this machine. It was very stable when I hunted up to my knees. It will be easy digging in this fine sand.I will plan a hunt here.
  3. I think Steve H. likes his 24k more for prospecting but for gold jewelry I am not sure.
  4. Nasa Tom did a story on that machine hunting the beaches in Florida and he cleaned up on small gold jewelry kicking the butts of the excal users who compared targets with him .It is in one of the magazines in the early 2000's.
  5. It is as clean as a whistle so no way I would scrap it but the rising price makes it worth more. The Gmx would scream like a seagull if you tried it in your big bay because of the salt.I would have gone in the water but there was small craft warning and I thought it was going to be rougher.I wish you could get some cleaner silver but then you would have to stay out of the water.
  6. I took the Gmx to 2 beaches today. At the first I only got 11 cent and my buddy got 1.25 with his Nox.At the second beach my buddy got about $6 and 3 matchbox cars plus a junk earring.I got only 22 cents but a 8.5 gram .925 tennis brac. with BS hallmark and clear stones , a clad brac. with trinkets, a junk medallion, and a junk earring.I only dug shallow targets and my friend said most of his coins were deep. Gmx strikes again even though I did not get many coins.
  7. I will take my Gmx in the shallows for water hunting now if they cover the warranty. Thank you Geotech for your input.
  8. You are right but if bottle caps sound like a coin it could make for some difficult hunting if the caps sound like coins and if there is a lot of bottle caps.In a lot of places caps might not be a problem so you would be fine.If you are in a silver hotspot you could dig all the caps and see what silver they are masking if you have the patients.Always be ready to adapt these days because silver has gotten much tougher in many spots. There might be a 1916-D merc with your name waiting for you.I had a 1895-O barber dime waiting for me along with a 1895 and 1901-S too.
  9. If you hunted in 4kz. for silver coins in a bottle cap infested site it would drive you crazy and you would be constantly be checking in multi to see what it is.If you hunt in multi first then check in 4kz. it would be much easier. You are doing it the right way Simon. If caps are not a problem 4kz first is fine as long as you are not getting to many up average targets which will hinder you in getting more silver because you will be digging more junk..
  10. I like the built in batteries.I don't have the pain of changing them like my AT Gold which can be difficult now because my battery door has trouble popping off.Nox is being charged as I type. You also can hook up a battery if you land hunt .
  11. Has anybody compared the 2 since the digger coil has a reputation as a silver slayer in the trash and both machines are a Minelab.I was going to get the digger coil but it went from 189 to 269 bucks. To steep a price for such a small coil.I heard Mars makes a 7'' 3kz dd coil for the xterra at a good price but have not seen any feed back on it.Since I got the Nox I haven't used the xterra.I might get the Mars coil just for fun.I think they call it the Lion coil. Madison Maine youtube has some footage of the digger coil.He gets a deep half in one.The digger coil is orange.
  12. It is a fun machine and I went for shallow targets so this gave me the chance to dig many more targets.I will leave the deeper ones for the Nox.
  13. I don't really know since all the targets were less then 2 inches in the moist black sand. When I took it in the creek mouth I was not hunting but was seeing how stable it was up to 2 feet. The black sand section is usually Infinium territory.
  14. Good timing ,it is just before the Apex release. Minelab is not stupid just a little cocky on the way they do or don't do things.
  15. Do you think they could make the Nox better by using specific coils like say a coil made more for saltwater use in the beach modes?
  16. The last time I took it to the beach I found only 1 penny while my friends found about 3.50 each plus 1 had a silver ring.It would not be hard to beat this total so off to a thin but very junky beach we went(different beach then other time). There were bottle caps galore and junk from the many fires this beach has at night plus what is dropped during the day. There was a good cut along the shore and I dug the nice zip sounds in this black sand section and got about 10 coins and 5 were nickels plus a junk iron ring.In 5 sens. setting the black sand would over load without there even being a target sometimes . It was that hot in this section.I then hunted in the tan sand and got a clean gold color chain that was iron.Toward the end of the hunt I got a nice tight zip and out came a moon 10k hoop earring at 1.6 grams. It is the first gold me and my friends have found on the dry sand with over 100 hours between us in hunting time. The GMX redeems it self on the beach and gives me 10 gold to be in the double digit gold club with OBN but still way behind him.I took it in a pond like area by a creek mouth and the machine did not act any different which is good.I might take it in the water next. I will try to get a picture tomorrow. I have to learn how to do it.
  17. Get a hold of Curt Roe 63 g mail .com he is the one who is helping her.
  18. I think she will put it on face book, cc Wilson is her name and her late husband ran Wilson metal detectors..
  19. Simon , I think you can still get them at Metal detecting . com.An old dealer friend who passed last year wife is selling his 20 year plus gold bug 2 that he probably never used for 250 and a explorer # 26 serial# with sunray probe for same price. He put maybe 30 hours on it.
  20. It use the same battery holder as the Garrett Infinium so maybe you can get one in your area.
  21. Well Simon the way you keep winning in these Olympics maybe you should be called Phrunt Phelps on this forum. You got as many prizes as he has medals.
  22. Great hunts. It seems you have a compass to find treasure.
  23. It was my blunder now that I realized I was in Fe instead of f2. I tried the f2-7 setting and all is well.i did the factory preset 5 minutes before I went in water so I probably did not realize my mistake. I am glad now. Thanks for your help. This lake is stingy on gold now so maybe digging over 50 bottle caps is was is needed for this lake to cough up a piece of gold.
  24. In a Lake Ontario sandbar hunt My width is from top of bar to neck deep water which is about 40 feet.Because of wave action there is not as many targets on top of bar because the waves remove lighter targets plus it's very easy digging. The hotter sand also skews signals so you want to dig deeper targets because deep rings may sound iffy.A total different strategy from my Finger lake spot. You have to adjust to the situation. This beach is about a mile long and I am not worried about caps here since targets are scarce on top of bar and around it most of the time.Last time here I dug a 1 .7 gram nugget earring using the gold mode to get this 10k target. It gave me a nice zip sound.
