Nel Coils For Garrett 24K
Dances With Doves replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Even though I have the Whites 4 by 6 coil I will get the snake for my Gmx because it is epoxy filled plus has no extra air space.I bet it will be hotter too.I am glad Garrett is bringing out a 6'' concentric.I also wonder how much they improved the machine.Jeff likes his Garrett better then his Whites 24k. -

I forgot to mention my earring is white gold and came with a silicone earring back instead of a gold one. -
Garrett Goldmaster 24K In Alaska

I cannot tell if that is yellow or white gold but I have a 3mm 10k earring that looks like that and that is about as tough as they come for a machine to pick them up.A 9 shot hits better then that target. You have bragging rights if you find one of them and a huge challenge for one trying to find one. Everything has to be just right for success. -
Garrett 24k Now Available At Some U.S. Dealers
Dances With Doves replied to phrunt's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
I can't wait to see what coils will come out for it since I have the Gmx. A viper coil would be nice for the lakes and a 4.5 inch sniper for tight spots and near playground equipment.I put a #9 shot on my sidewalk which has a lot of Emi around it and I can get it at around 3 inches. At 1 inch it hits it very hard. They are both air tests with the 6'' coil. -
The Nox can hunt for both old coins and all types of jewelry with way above average results and in many different situations. How many machines can make this claim. The reason the Nox is such a success is because it gives you a better chance of having a good hunt compared to most machines and at a good price for what you get with it.If you put on the 11'' coil it hunts for silvers like a champ. You can then put on the 6'' coil and hunt for nuggets and small jewelry as good as most vlf machines from what I am seeing.

Garrett Goldmaster 24K In Alaska
Dances With Doves replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
That's great news Simon. Are you going to try to get the 6'' old white's coil or are you going to wait for the new coils?A 3 by 6 inch snake coil would be nice to compared to the fat and hollow White's 4 by 6 coil. -
Garrett Goldmaster 24K In Alaska
Dances With Doves replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
The At Gold should be more in tune for all around freshwater hunting then the 24k since it is waterproof and also has a thresh hold all metal mode too if you want it.It has much better target id in the discriminate mode.It will have good results on most jewelry. Only the smallest jewelry will give it problems. -
I hope you get one Simon. In your mild ground the 6'' concentric would be ideal.I wonder what other coils will be offered for this machine. I have the Gmx and use it mostly in the tot lots since target Id is not that good but the digging is easy.I also have a magnet on a stick for picking up the iron targets.I find a lot of steel bb's.

Nox Is Headed To Minelab, 4th Machine Since May Of 2018
Dances With Doves replied to Dan(NM)'s topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I hope you get a better machine.I put a piece of a pool noodle between the pod and cuff so it does not sink if a let my machine go.The less pressure on the pod the better it should hold up. -
Nox Is Headed To Minelab, 4th Machine Since May Of 2018
Dances With Doves replied to Dan(NM)'s topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I had my machine under the water for over 100 hours before it went.It is usually in pretty calm conditions. I got fog in it after i used it in a surging Lake Ontario which also broke my arm cuff.Hunting in the hot dry sand and then going in the cooler water without gradually cooling off my machine probably made it worse( I usually don't do that). Also the wear and tear on this heavily used machine probably also compromised it a bit. They took care of me well so they will get my praise for their customer service. -
Nox Is Headed To Minelab, 4th Machine Since May Of 2018
Dances With Doves replied to Dan(NM)'s topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I got my machine back within a week of sending it out.It was a month short of it's third birthday so it still had the warranty. They gave me a new coil plus a new control pod.I basically got a new machine plus a 1 year warranty on this new pod.I went in my test garden and it hit the silver better then my old machine which I tested last month. It could be the new machine or the wetter ground getting me the better performance.I found 4 silver coins and 12 wheats at a old school we hit before the first time out with it.I got 9 nickels and a 4.2 gram 14k gold ring today in the water. The ring was deep and gave me a iffy hit.I ran f2-0 and found about 15 bottle caps too.I hope you get your machine back fast -

Got My Machine Back Fast
Dances With Doves replied to Dances With Doves's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I now have to decide what machine to use. The Nox on the sandbar where there are not to many targets while going for the tougher gold. It also has good target separation for the shallower targets in the iron.I like to use the infinium in the deeper cuts for rings by using the modulation and the hi -low target id to go for gold rings. The many hot rocks here don't hamper the infinium and the signals are good on deep targets. The Nox does go deep but the hot ground skews the target id here on the deeper targets and the signals can sound bad. I wish Garrett would redesign the ATX into a sleek machine since you can't get the infinium anymore and the ATX is better. -
My machine's ears on my coil broke plus it had some fog in the control box even though it still worked fine.I got my machine on Aug 1 2018 so I needed to send it in fast since I thought I only had about a month to go on the warranty.I actually had until October .I brought it to the post office on Sat at 2:30 pm and it was at my door at about 9:00 am on Thursday. They gave me a new coil with a cover plus a new control pod with a new rod for it.My machine went only from N. Y. to Penn. but this is much faster then the time I thought I would get it back.Thank you Minelab for your great service.I had to use my Infinium in the water while my Nox was sitting on the sideline and despite not using it since July 2018 I got 4 gold on 1 day and 7 overall with this 2002 machine in 5 hunts. My Nox has 3 gold in 4 outings.

Gold Racer Vs Whites 24k And Others
Dances With Doves replied to phrunt's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
The 24k has a 4by6 inch coil but it is hollow and fat and outdated.I think Steve said there is a lot of airspace in this coil.A snake coil would be nice and so would a 4.5 inch Garrett sniper coil.- 17 replies

Sunray Headphones [new]
Dances With Doves replied to midalake's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
My Gmx has a 1/4 inch adapter so I could use other headphones when on land. These should help with the loud blasts this machine gives on surface targets when in the boost mode with the headphones that come with it.I could lower the volume but I might miss the faint targets. These headphones should do the trick and I will try them on the Nox too.I wonder if I could still get a adapter to use with the infinium. -
Any Word On Shipment Of Coiltek 10 X 5 Coils?
Dances With Doves replied to relicmeister's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Minelab has the molds for 5 by 8 and a 7 by 10 coils because of the Vanquish.Imagine how many they would have sold if they offered them for the Nox. -
1827 Large Cent In Good Condition
Dances With Doves replied to relic ray's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Relic Ray strikes again !That is a great find Ray. We hunted in the woods on a hill in the middle of the city.A bird watchers oasis of 27 acres next to a 109 acre park.142 different birds have been seen here in the last 18 years. -
There were some spots that were pounded by the explorer that we took the Nox to and did not get much. There were many spots that were pounded with the Explorer that we cleaned up on . Many were spots that dried up for the explorer.I can use the Nox almost anywhere and get good results. I also can take it in the water and get the goodies there too. I will say the explorer is a great machine and was way ahead of it's time.

I like the gold modes on the sand bars which can be on the hot side.It is easy digging and I go by the nice zip when I decide to dig.I dug a tiny stainless ring that would read a air test a one for id at almost a foot. The park modes would have gave me a iron sound.Lots of fresh drops on the cleaner first sand bar that can get deep fast after some wave action. What machine do you like for the gold in the iron which is usually done in close in a shore line cut.

Large Lead Ball
Dances With Doves replied to relic ray's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
I was with him for that big round lead ball at my school from k-4th grade and dated 1967.He got the merc at a new clearing by the original Erie canal. He was using the Nox.I found one of those big lead balls in the woods one time also.We also have a spot where they made gun powder and we found many brass balls from the explosions it had. They were used to grind the the powder.
