  1. Hi Phrunt. Why don't you try a P. I . at your coin spots.Your coins are deep.Dig Low-high signals was what I did with my infinium. I did good on beaches for coins. Even got some silvers in turf.
  2. I have heard of one person who uses the AT Max and says he uses the Max and its sparky behavior to his advantage to clean up on Turf gold . His user name is skip something. I can't remember it all. An example of someone who knows how to use a certain machine.
  3. That is a great find. Sometimes I scoop up a small stone with hole in it.My friend says it is a indian fishing weight. My friend scooped up a arrowhead in a lake. One lake is loaded with musketballs.
  4. I think you can get Jesuit rings up your way.I got 7 in a field south of Rochester. They mostly hit like nickles. My friend Ramer on FM forum posted them a few years back. Older then 1687 since That was when that indian village was abandon.
  5. You should try bark tot lots when you have a chance.Great practice for small gold, and easy digging.
  6. Hi Rick. Are you hitting a inland lake or lake Michigan ? I think Jim is right that your sensitivity is to high. I don't want to get the machine if it is not good in water.
  7. What machine that you were able to use at a certain time gave you an advantage over others at certain places you hunt. The first for me was having a minelab explorer in Jan of 2000 for hunting coins in parks. Even being too selective when I first started hunting with it I still cleaned up because the machine was that good. The problem was there were many good explorer users in my area which made it much harder to find coins like we did in the past with such ease. The Nox is a great machine but it was not available in( 2000- 2007 ) when the explorer ruled the parks. That machine and that time will always be special to me.Mike Moutray who was one of the best explorer users I saw would go around the country and would hunt places people on the forums would take him to.My friend got in touch with him and he would hunt a old racing track with us . 6 explorer users in all.He made the most finds out of all of us.He was that good.Yet he hunted 3/4 of a 200 year old oak tree and went to the bathroom. When he came back he did not go back to finish the tree. I went to the tree and got a iffy deep hit and dug, putting the dirt in a gold pan.Out came a 1909 2 1/2 $ gold coin.I then put the Sunray probe in the hole and got a pulltab hit.Out pops a other 1909 2 1/2 $ gold coin.Put the probe in the hole and again a pulltab hit. This time a fired 22 slug. The song says 2 out of 3 aint bad.The explorer was way ahead of its time.
  8. I have a spot on lake Ontario that had a beach house built in 1916 and closed in the 60's. It was torn down but an area people still swim at. Strong lake current cut it down in that summer near clay or to the clay. 80 yards by about 20. There were also tracks that went by the lake from 1870's to 1970's.They built a tunnel under tracks to get swimmers to lake. All that left was mostly heavy objects because of currents. There were many RR ties and big iron and nails in spots. On June 30 of 2018 with AT gold and its stock coil I got 19 quarters,18dimes,22 nickles,36 pennies. My record for gold for a day at 6 with 2 ob hallmark rings.2 silver jewelry,5 other rings, brass bangle, 3 silver plated spoons and a fork, some buttons and other jewelry, brass buckles,A very rare American lock co. key from Cazenovia,N. Y.,1 silver Rosie, 3 V nickles,1 buffalo nickel, and 10 weaties in a 10 hour hunt.It can be done in the right conditions.I then got my nox and with this machine this spot still produced.
  9. I like having the wm08 option on the equinox. It with the Tony E. custom headphones made me gel more with my machine. The vanquish was a great move by Minelab and Bluetooth for such a inexpensive machine a big plus. They put a lot of candy in the basket for the price. You can say the same for the equinox . To be able to use 1 machine for most of my hunting is a big plus.It is a great machine that does most things very well.Only in blacksand that would make my x-terra overload would hamper it.
  10. Did you try 20 and 40 kz in the gold modes?
  11. Thanks Rick for the reply. I have one finger lake that when the water is low you can go about 800 feet from shore. The boats during the summer have to be beyond the 500 foot markers. There are bottlecaps galore so the Iron audio on the At gold was a big help. Most of the rings were easy hits so this machine saved you time by not being stopped that much by the caps. It would hit gold rings like a pitbull on a meatball. In close is a clean small swim area and a good spot for the gmx since it gets hit hard and only has small gold mostly. The nox with the new f2 should help with the caps so it won't slow me down like last year out past the 500 foot mark. Can you tell a bottlecap on the Gmx from a good target with the 6inch coil?Good luck hunting.
  12. Long time lurker. Hello all.Rick can you compare the Gmx, Nox, and Gold Kruzer for small gold for water hunting. Thinking of getting a Gmx.Hunt the Finger lakes area of N.Y.Anybody also about what they like for turf and tot lots for small gold .Great forum Steve.Your detecting knowledge is A +. You taught me the Garrett Infinium method of digging coins on the beach by the low-high tones. Also found many gold rings with it in the black sand parts of lake Ontario.60 is my record for gold for a year.
