Do you guys ever find Jesuit rings in California in your old spots that you hunt?

When I use my explorer in the turf 95% of the times i am going for coins. I dig low hits when i am at the beach or in the shallows. I have got a few gold rings with it in the shallows and on the dry sand. Only about 5 gold in the turf and 2 of them sounded like Indians in all those years.I was a silver snob in my early years.

I got lucky and found 2 1909 quarter eagle gold coins in 1 hole.The expert hunter Mike Moutray while driving around the country and hunting with people who guided him to good spots in their area. He got a hold of my buddy and we met him at a restaurant and went south to a place that had a old sulfur spring and use to have a gambling horse track.He hunted around a 200 year old plus oak tree and only went 3/4 of the way around it. He then went to the rest room and to a different spot.I went to the tree and hunted in areas he did not hunt and got a iffy hit.I used my Sun Ray probe and got a pull tab hit and pulled out a gold coin and then got my second.I put in my probe and got the same hit but pulled out a fired bullet.I am sure that he would have probably got it of he hunted the whole tree.I had the coins in the gold pan I had with the dirt and when he saw them he rolled his eyes probably because he knows he did not hunt the whole tree.He did get his first 3 cent silver though.This happened in October 2003.

I was checking to see why my 2001 silver total was so small compared to other full years of hunting. I only used the explorer 6 times and I found 48 pieces of gold which means I was putting a lot of time going for the gold.The gold amount makes up for the low silver total so I can't complain.

I would not mind if they put the ATX in a GMX housing.The Gmx uses the same battery pack as the Infinium.Does the Atx use the same one? This would be for beach hunters.

Joe i am glad you are alive and doing better.My buddy found a pre 1905 10 k gold ring over 25 gram within 15 minutes of using his new Nox in the turf so he is in your club of finding a ring over 20 grams. I call it the OBN club in your honor. I see someone on the friendly forum just found a 31 gram 18k ring so you have a new member in your club.

Since there are more coils for the Apex then the Vanquish,are you able to get the same depth or more in the ground you hunt with the Apex ?

i checked my pre Jefferson nickel count for 2020 and I had 25 which included 5 in one day while water hunting the ghost pier.They were mostly buffalo's. In 2020 I also found 41 pieces of silver jewelry and 1 small sterling spoon.That is 161 total silver for the year if you count anything silver.The nox is the best silver jewelry machine that I ever had because it finds all sizes of silver very well. The fbs machines won't hit the smaller pieces as well.

I was 35 and while watching the gold fever show I decided to join and I drove the 45 miles to the man who was head of the local chapter who happen to own Wilson 's metal detectors.I went home with a Bandito 2 U max and I was hooked.I liked panning for gold too but it was easier to go detecting because the good spots were much closer.

I have 8.A tesoro bandito 2 umax,a explorer xs that is dead,a x-terra 70,Nox 800,Garrett infinium,Tesoro tiger shark that needs to be fixed, A AT gold, and a Gmx.All have paid for themselves but the Gmx.

I know Emi makes a difference since I always play with my deep dime in my test garden.When the Emi is really high the target sounds bad.

I did get a 1894- o last year so i came close . I guess that they only know about 12 out of the 24 and one was very worn which means it circulated for many years.i bet there is a couple waiting for a hunter and some buried in the debris from the 1906 quake.I have not put them in a folder.You also have condition keys where the nice ones are worth a good amount.I wish they never made the v nickel and instead made a barber half dime.i love Barber coins.I forgot to mention that i did find a 1894-s quarter last year.Close but no cigar.

With your big tides(big above Cape Cod )you are covering good ground at low tide since at high tide these spots you hunt would be over your head but low tide just wet sand. I imagine in the winter you have to play it very safe.I loved fishing in The Martha's Vineyard derby and how you have to respect the power of the ocean.I fly fished the last time there and those darn Albies broke me off 4 times in a row.They are very strong fish.

The nickel has a melt value of about 5.4 cents so it holds true face value and costs the mint money to make it now. I found 338 nickels in 2020.I found 13 at the beach one day.

Nice picture. It looks like a calm lake. In lake Ontario you would have to go a long way off shore to get open water because of the ice pack.Having a ocean gives you a option in winter and what a good option that is.You lucky guy.

I added up my Barber coin total and I have 336 coins.The best one was the 1895-o key date !

I found the only silver coin in my yard under the cloth line.

I wish they made all nickels until 1964 like the way they made the war nickel.They would have come out in better shape from the ground and they would have silver.I have found a lot of war nickels and they only made them 4 years.

I also have all 3 concentric coils with the x-terra and the 6'' 18kz. dd and the 5 by 10 dd and only the 10'' dd broke.I used it in a stubble field just before it broke and in the thick woods a lot.It was my favorite coil for that machine on coins and with my luck the only one that broke.It did get me 7 Jesuit rings a month before it broke. I probably can fix it if I try but the nox lowers my motivation to put in the time to fix it.

I would not mind if they made that little 4.5 inch sniper concentric coil for the 24k/ Gmx.It would be a sweet coil for the tot lots and hot on tiny nuggets in mild ground.

Hi Jerry.Are the ears on the Coiltech coils better then the Minelab ones.A 15 inch coil will be nose heavy and you want stronger ears.My x-terra coil broke it's ears in a year and a half of use because it was nose heavy and the ears were weak (10'' 7.5 kz dd coil.)

Is the GPX rainproof and can it handle the salt air better then other Minelab Pi machines not counting the waterproof one they have.

If Garrett comes out with a At apex type machine( higher end machine) with a all metal mode how much are you willing to pay considering what the price for a Nox is at this point ?Would you pay $900.Also would you buy one early or watch what field tests reveal.

My dad had a restaurant and from 1967 to 1973 he pulled out about 15 pounds of silver.He sold them to his cousin for only 3 times face value to his cousin in 2001.I did pull out all the silver dollars before he sold them.I would have bought the rest if he told me.Even in the 80' and early 90's me and my cousin would pull out about 20 silvers each in a year.

To tell the truth with all the different quarters and $1 dollar coins being made filling up a book would be fun by trying to get them with a detector. Keep the best looking one you have for the book and spend the rest .Remember those West point quarters are a circulating clad coin and it is valuable.
