  1. Congrats on the old ring! Those old sterling marked rings always seem to have a nicer patina than the newer 925 marked ones.
  2. So, no matter how polluted the site is with iron or aluminum you’re saying to stay with reactivity set to zero? If that’s what I’m understanding from your quote above, that’s just plain wrong. Why would XP give you options to adjust the reactivity if like you say “reactivity of 0 in any program finds more items”? Maybe I’m misunderstanding you and if so I apologize, but to say no one should run reactivity other than 0 is misinformation and could lead someone who’s new to a deus II to get quite frustrated by following what you posted.
  3. I agree. Today for the first time (because of this thread), I checked the mineralization graph a few times just out of curiosity. The screen alternates so fast after pumping the coil I barely have time to see the graph much less being able to count the bars to compare to other areas. Sometimes I may want to post that the area I hunted had “7 bars on the mineralization graph” but it changes so fast I’d have to pump the coil multiple times to be able to count those little bars.
  4. I’m not losing sleep over it either. I do wonder at times about how many gold rings I’ve passed over because I was too lazy to dig another pulltab. 😂
  5. What’s the chances of there being a roll of quarters like that in the ground? Seems like an unrealistic test to me.
  6. I hope no one takes my comparison between Jeremy and Gary the wrong way. All I’m trying to say is Jeremy’s videos are, shall we say high energy and Gary’s are calm and laidback. Both are very informative, but get their points across in different manners.
  7. I’ve been watching quite a few of paystreak’s videos. I like him! He’s definitely unfiltered. Lol. His vids look to be unedited and whatever happens, happens. It’s just him detecting and he knows his machines well. I get a kick out of the contrast between Paystreak and Gary Blackwell. It’s like 3 cups of coffee verses smoking a joint. Lol!
  8. I’m a little leery of “permanently”attaching anything to my detectors. I could probably remove it with a heatgun if I had to, but I would rather have a mechanical connection rather than glue. I wonder how it would hold up long term in salt water. If there’s any ingress into that charging port door I would think the contacts would corrode over time. However I do like the fact of being able to hunt with a battery pack hooked up to the coil if you had to. I’m noticing the coil battery loses its charge the fastest of all three components.
  9. Yes, that’s what mine does….steady on with a faint blink. Thanks for confirming!
  10. I’m new to xp also, but if you practice navigating the menu on the remote for 15 minutes or so it’s not that bad at all. In fact, you can’t mess any settings up since it reverts to default settings when it’s turned off and back on again. Now if you’re talking about learning the tonal nuances and such, I think it’ll take me awhile to become as proficient with the deus as I am with my equinox. It just takes practice. And since it’s fun to practice it’s not that big of deal to me.
  11. I’m new to XP products and have only charged my coil twice so far. In the manual it says the light stays on constantly while charging. When I put the charging clip on my coil the light goes solid but does a real quick blink every 4 or 5 seconds. Is that what xp means by the light staying on constantly? My coil charges up like this I’m just wondering if it’s normal to have that quick blink.
  12. That’s a great bunch of finds, especially for the shortest month of the year! What’s your overall silver coin count for 2022?
  13. The target should be right under the center of the coil. I don’t use the pinpoint mode as much as I use the method your using of swinging in one direction and then swinging at 90 degrees to that. I mostly use the pinpoint function to size the target.
  14. I agree. I’m one of the lucky ones that got a nine. I don’t see me wanting or needing an 11” so I probably won’t buy one. However if it was the other way around and I could only have gotten an 11, I would have bought a nine when they became available. Shrewd marketing on XP’s part!
  15. That’s about the timeframe I was thinking of too. Do you know when fineness stamps started showing up on rings?
  16. Can you elaborate on this some more? I’m having a hard time visualizing this.
  17. What would I say? I’d say that Thoreau would have said something different if metal detectors were around back then.
  18. I was the first in line with my dealer, no pre-pay or deposit. I got my nine inch version about two weeks ago. I guess you have to get on the waitlist early. I would hope opalboy’s dealer would waive the $40 restocking fee since demand is so high.
  19. Very nice! Congrats on getting out with your new deus2 and having success with it right off the bat!
  20. Is it? I don’t see anything else out there except the deus I or the ORX that can compete for the title of Ultimate Woods Hunting Detector. I went out in the woods behind my house yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours. I live in the mountains of Western NC which are filled with mountain laurel, rhododendrons and hemlocks. (Unfortunately a lot of the hemlocks are dying due to the woolly adelgid (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemlock_woolly_adelgid). Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is that the mountains here are steep and in places full of tangled undergrowth especially the rhododendrons. They have lots of tangled branches to catch on any part of a detector that sticks out. With the DeusII being wireless you can put the remote in your pocket and make the detector more streamlined plus you have no cables to get caught on branches. Even the ws6 backphones (I normally like full coverage conventional headphones, but I’m warming up to these. Lol) are less bulky and since the strap goes behind your neck, are much less likely to get knocked off. It’s also so easy to adjust the rod length. Decreasing it to go up really steep mountainsides and increasing it when going back down. I remember some people saying that they didn’t see an advantage to the wireless concept of the deus. And until I went in the woods yesterday I didn’t realize how nice it was not to have the coil cable getting caught on branches all the time. BTW, I was using program 2 in pitch tones with the rc safely tucked in my zippered shirt pocket and digging all good sounding signals. I got two old headstamps, two .22 shell casings, two .22 lead bullets, a modern nickel and two pieces of junk jewelry! Plus a couple of balled up foil gum wrappers.
