  1. Thanks Rick! There are state gamelands I’m pretty sure I could detect on. It’s just finding those old homesites if there even are any in my area. I’ve pored over old topos trying to find something.
  2. I guess moderation is the key to any hobby. Everyone needs time to themselves…some more than others. I’m 60 and have three kids aged 13, 13 and 15. It’s a balancing act getting my alone time in along with time with my kids. (My wife and I are separated so we alternate weeks with the kids. We actually get along better now.) Every other weekend I’m free to do whatever I wish.
  3. I feel like I’m in rut as far as detecting goes. I don’t have any permissions and all of my public sites have been hit hard by me. Yesterday I decided to hit an old ballfield from the 1940s that I’ve been to twice before. Once I got there I quickly remembered why I’ve only detected it twice before. The dirt has been moved around and probably more dirt added as the edge of the outfield is higher than the adjacent field. But even if fill is brought in and moved around there’s still the chance of a coin not getting buried too deeply. Right behind second base is where I got the 1954 rosie. I also got two or three wheats and the two foreign coins. One is 1977 and I can’t get a date off the larger one. As I made my way back to the car I got the old makeup compact in the adjacent field. Once I found that, I randomly detected that field and not finding anything else old, I quit for the day. Yesterday I hit a large park that’s not old although I did find a silver rosie the last time I was there. Today I was in jewelry mode and had the D2 in Sensitive Full Tones. I left it stock other than turning the silencer down to 2 and sensitivity up to 95. I varied the reactivity from 1.5-3. First thing was the compass pendant. It’s stainless and rang up a solid 57. Next was the earring and I don’t remember what TID it came in at, but in the bright sun it looked like gold. Once I got home and cleaned it up it’s marked YGF 925 CHINA. I’m guessing ygf stands for yellow gold filled. I then got the silver clasp and try as I might I couldn’t find the chain. I even used gold mode on the D2 and dug everything in about a 20’ radius from where I dug the clasp. So that rosie puts me at 3 for the year. Unless I happen upon a good permission, I don’t see me getting more than 10-12 silvers this year, but you never know. Lol
  4. Nice finds Jeff! Gotta love a big silver ring!! Do remember the TID on it? 96-97?
  5. I hope y’all know that the best detector is the one I’m using😉
  6. I thought most of California had snow right now. And yes, the D2 in fast program can definitely pick out the coins. Congrats on the 7 wheats….might still be a silver lurking somewhere there.
  7. You know what you’re getting from me right? HELL YEAH!!! I save the all caps hell yeahs for those super extra special finds! Damn, I’m jealous. Lol!
  8. Love that silver button! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a solid silver button posted before. Rare find indeed!
  9. Congrats on the button and the merc! I’ve dug mercs more beat up than that one!
  10. I’d be very happy with those two finds! Congrats!🍾
  11. By the looks of that can I’d say it’s past the expiration date…..if it has one. Lol
  12. That is NICE! If you could make one of those with an inverted V (like on the rootslayer nomad pictured above) for the tip I would buy it from you.
  13. Here’s what I’ve been using for the past 4 or 5 years. I’m on my third one now. The other two cracked about a third of the way down from the top of the blade. However, I get a LOT of usage out of them before they crack. I still want to try a predator but, like someone mentioned above, I can’t decide on which one to get although I’m leaning towards the phoenix model. I really like the inverted V tip f the nomad. It holds on and cuts right through a root instead of glancing off to the side.
  14. Did I miss what size coils come in the multipack? I’ll be watching this one once it’s released.
  15. Same cross section, but slightly larger diameter. Mine fits tighter than the stock plastic lower. The cam locks very tightly on the nokta shaft making it very secure. The only thing I wish it had were the numbers and hash marks like the xp lower does. I took a sharpie and made a mark at the length I like to extend it, so not a big deal.
  16. Going off topic a little, but I must be one of the few that likes the stock backphones. The thing is I’d thought I would hate them (this was before my D2 arrived) because I thought they wouldn’t stay put on my skinny head. However after many hunts in the woods going through very tight areas of rhododendrons and mountain laurels, the backphones are much less prone of being knocked out of place by rogue branches. I also like the fact that I can hear my surroundings much better than over the ear muffs. That can turn into a negative though when it’s really windy or in other noisy conditions. The only other negative for me is that the side where the puck attaches is heavier than the other side which gives a feeling of being unbalanced. If I bought another set of headphones, I’d probably opt for the WSA-II model, which are the backphones that don’t use the puck.
  17. Bob, I think you’re starting to become a silver addict! Congrats!
  18. Wow! That pendant is awesome!! That military medal is nice and pretty old too! Lol
  19. Hell yeah!! I figured you’d hit on some silver around the house area. Way to go! Now that you’re hitting silver, don’t be surprised if a gold ring turns up. Congrats!!
