  1. I found a late 1800's racetrack in a situation similar to yours. I used historicmapworks.com and found it on an 1876 map. I then used google earth to do a semi-transparent image overlay to find the exact location.
  2. Under water is a must for him Steve. Vanquish line can't be submerged. Barry, Hit one of the clubs mentioned and talk to the locals before buying. Maybe they'll allow you to take their detectors for a spin.
  3. The Carrot is fine, so was the black Garrett pointer when I owned them. I've got two Fisher FPulses that smoke the Garretts. (Carl killed it with his pin-pointer and he knows it.) I recently got the new Nokta Accupoint included in a Legend package. I've only used it twice so I don't have any real experience with it yet. May sell it if I still prefer the FPulse. The jury is still out.
  4. 😆 I thought you were going to show a seated 20c coin.
  5. I was considering trading my Apex. It's really gently used and is mint and has the tiny CC coil and the white 11" DD. Thinking about trading the Equinox as well. My shoulder is telling me I have to use something like a Deus I or II. Trying to avoid surgery.
  6. JCR, This is one of the reasons I keep my Impact. It has a couple different TRUE all metal modes. Not just turning off disc or "enabling the horeshoe".
  7. Oooooo man!! I know what we call bucket lists now a days has devolved into just a simple checklist, but that 20c is an absolute bucket lister.
  8. I'm not one to get hung up on "absolutes". Out of ground tests are not all bogus, nor are they righteous. Test gardens are not all bogus, nor are they righteous. Some tests have merit, others are not applicable to real world. "Train as you fight" is understandable, but shooting at paper targets on a range is also a bit different from real world. Some of the stuff Monte came up with on his nail board test really helped detectorists understand recovery speed and masking on a 2D plane. Like many of you I do disregard the tests where shill's have a preconceived conclusion and then set up very specific tests to make themselves look smart, or make a product appear to be something it's not. Confirmation bias is very obvious to people that are solely looking for impartial information.
  9. I've had an Impact for a long time and still love it. I've got a handful of coils for it as well. I'll never part with it. One of my buddies has a Legend. If I was starting all over again and only choosing between these 2 I'd buy the Legend. It has adjustable iron bias and recovery speed, SMF, waterproof, higher single freq when needed, better in minerals, more options to avoid EMI. If you're ONLY talking about raw power in a non-mineralized environment...I'll put my Impact with the 13" Mars Discovery coil up against any VLF. Especially when looking at cost.
  10. Thanks for the 2-tone info Mark. I've been using 50 tone and horseshoe on almost exclusively lately.
  11. @JCR Getting the edge falsing on all passes until I rotate and shrink the sweep until it's a tight and tiny wiggle. Actually tickling the target. It's doable but time consuming. @Lynk Equinox 600
  12. I prefer the 6" to the 11" coil in the trash, but it falses on the edge of the coil considerably more than the 11". I'm getting used to it but it's taking a lot longer to verify signals. I'm already going slower because of the coil size. Anyone come up with settings/adjustments to decrease the coil edge falsing?
  13. Not meant to derail, but a quick side-bar please. @EL NINO, Can you run that small coil on the Atrex in multi-freq? I thought I read it should only be run in single frequency? If it works, does it work well or have problems? If so I need to test it against my Equinox running the 6" coil in multi-freq, and I may have never purchased the small Equinox coil.
