  4. Hi Steve, I have had the same train of thought, going low and slow over pounded out areas, but a while back while I was hunting Gold Basin, (a real hard pounded out area), a young man I ran into was using a minelab, showed me the amount of gold found , and his method was go fast !!! He found more gold in 1 weekend, than I found in the last 3-6 months going slow. So I decided to put this to the test...and hunt fast. I found 3 times more gold hunting fast, so now I have stuck to this way of hunting. I still do the low and slow on washes I have already visited. Dave
  5. Chuck, Dont know how much money you want to spend, but for $1,000 there is a real nice drone with some distance, its the new DJI Mavic Pro, there are some pretty good youtube videos on it... Dave.
  6. Now this could be a new revolutionary harness. New Harness Link Dave
  7. Jason, Your philosophy of hunting fast is exactly how I like to hunt.... I started doing the exact same thing, when I ran into someone out in the desert a while ago who showed me his finds, by detecting as fast as he can with a larger coil. He found twice the amount of gold in 1 weekend, than I found in 1 month. If your into finding more gold, this is the way to do it. Another recent discovery is to hunt areas that have no indication of gold being found, only to discover a nice patch. ( A good place for this is eroded out ancient areas) 9 out of 10 times its the ol skunkaroo... But that 1 time will pay off more than the last year or two in known gold areas. Just like Vegas, the odds are slowly starting to turn by using some of these methods. Dave
  8. Hey usaflaginmaine, I have always used a Garrett Pinpointer, I have found them very reliable at finding gold, and when coinshooting... Dave.

  13. I use All in one Offline Maps, as a lot of times I'm in areas with no cell. This app allows you to download aerials, and topos to view in real time when prospecting in remote areas. Dave.
  14. Chris, Good Find, congrats on a great find !!!! That is a great lookin nugget. Dave.
  15. Mike, They dont make these boots anymore, quit about 2-3 years ago they are made by Wellco, signature hot weather series, composite toe, and I put a composite insert in them to prevent pesky cholla from poking through. Every now and then you can find them online... https://www.amazon.com/Wellco-Mens-Weather-Signature-Boot/dp/B003CC01CK

  18. Got out for a half day hunt to Gold Basin early before getting to hot. Found a small nugget and a puzzle piece meteorite that I put back together, as shown in picture. Enclosing a video also... The early mornings sure are a perfect 80 degrees, but once that sun comes out the temp rises fast... Dave.
  19. Chris Ben, I also live in Vegas, and have been hunting Gold Basin since 2002. Your best bet, is to get away from any dirt roads, and do some hiking way out. Like Vegas odds, you will have a higher chance of finding something on the less traveled path. Easy to get to places have been hunted over 1000 times. Also I have had more luck finding nuggets on bedrock, than benches in Gold Basin. Dave
  20. Bring that thing to Glorieta NM and look for some huge buried meteories. Dave.
  21. Jason, Thanks for the video, I have seen his videos before, they are real interesting. He has a lot of prospecting and even a video on making a meteorite thin section... Dave
