  1. Phrunt, If I remember I run detector volume about 8... Dave
  2. I have the Steelphase SP01 for my GPZ 7000. I love it... It sure quiets up the sounds from the detector, and only allows targets to get through, faint targets were passed through and amplified with no problem... Dave
  3. I was wondering if anyone has heard any new information on Minelabs new Metal Detector MF5 ? Im assuming MF5 would be 5 multi frequencys? Dont know could be wrong? If this topic has been discussed please delete... Picture is from US patent, Trademark website Thanks.. Dave
  4. Hi Geelong guy, I learned the hard way, metal detecting by myself in known gold area's till I found my first nugget about 1 year later.... Best advice, is to metal detect, drywash, or whatever way your hunting for gold, is to get out with an experienced person, whos willing to show and teach you. Wish I did that myself. If you offer to pay for gas, lunch ect... Im sure an experienced person in your area would be willing to take you under their wing for a little bit, most of the prospectors on here, and know are awesome guys !!! Take Care, Dave.
  5. 1515Art, I was also approached by a deputy and investigator looking for the same guy... Weird how they found me, their helicopter hovered 50 feet above me, till the deputy showed up.... Jason, glad the guy is dead.... sorry for your losses on all your stuff, it sucks, been there done that in Dolan (Stolen) Springs... Dave
  6. Gerry, You've got that NOX dialed in dude !!! Your killing it.... Here is a picture of my first gold found with the Equinox 800 when they first came out, I think this picture was April 8, 2018.... I never leave home without it... Dave
  7. Talk about stock, dump $2,000 into some stock like Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruises, American Airlines, Delta, ect, and wait to sell the stock Fiscal year 2021, when minelab comes out with their new $10,000 detector, all the stocks will be back up by then.... Dave
  8. Flak, I also had an original production WM12 that took forever to charge. I ended up getting a new one, that doesnt take that long to charge, but those darn things are not cheap....☚ī¸ Dave

  10. Now thats a great day 1515Art... congrats... That last pic with a little piece thats shiny, what is that, meteorite ?? , hard to tell from pic. Did it respond to detector and magnet different that the other meteorites??? Thanks, Dave
  11. Nice Nugget, with that selling price of $7250, it went for a little over $69 a gram at todays prices, not to bad..... Gold is steadily climbing. I believe once the economy gets back to normal, it will go back down. How many of you are selling ? Dave

  14. A no skunk day in the Basin, is always a great day.... congrats on the gold and meteorite. Dave
  15. Sounds like a successful trip Mitchel.... thanks for the post. If you or anyone else has found small iron like meteorites in Gold Basin, that look and act just like a Franconia iron, do not toss them, thinking this is not a typical Gold Basin Meteorite, as they are a pretty rare type of stony iron meteorite called a Mesosiderite. Myself and others have been finding them over the years, and mapping them. They scream on the detector, and snap to a magnet just like a Franconia Iron. Jim Kriegh, the founder of Gold Basin meteorites found and classified the first one in Gold Basin, as you can see from the metbul. Dave
  16. They also found a large gold deposit in Goldfield, Nevada right under the highway, they are going to move the road to mine it.. https://pvtimes.com/news/stretch-of-u-s-95-being-moved-for-nevada-gold-mining-project-77459/
  17. I use onXMaps on my phone, its $100 per year, but allows up to 2 phones to use it, so me and a buddy split the cost $50 each for a year, and it covers 50 states... Also check out Gaia GPS , 1 year is $17 for basic, or $36/yr for the land ownership, offroad maps, and a lot more. https://www.gaiagps.com/membership/ Dave
  18. Chris, You had a great year.... congrats on all the gold you got and are still getting, but thats a different story 😉. I feel 2020 will be another great year for you dude !!!! Dave
  19. How are the X coils on hot rocks to you guys using it on the GPZ? Are you digging 2-3 foot holes to find a hot rock? Thanks, Dave
  20. I made some good money off that rush. Sold 2 new GPX machines ...
  21. 1515art, please include my name, Thank you for the giveaway... Dave
  22. Sorry to hear Jason, If I get back out that way, I will keep an eye out. I know the feeling, had my travel trailer burned down, everything stolen, and my storage in Dolan Springs broke into 2 times. Meth heads getting crazy out there... Dave
  23. I have been unable to find the frequency on these detectors, anyone know, please post... Also the 540 advertises " a customizable frequency range setting" would be interested in how that works... Dave
  24. DolanDave- I lived in Dolan Springs Arizona when I got into prospecting, which is right next to Gold Basin, Arizona.... used the name on all the other gold forums, and stuck to it, even though Im in Las Vegas now... Dave
  25. Bill, The pic was from the Minelab website, just as you show in your link. I agree with what JP says in the beginning of this post : "I also recommend users adopt the GB configured to their USER button approach and to go into Manual mode when checking deep targets or committing to dig, leaving the GPZ in Semi-Auto will allow the GB to drift either through exposure to the pick whilst digging or just general drift through the coil not moving, either way the GB will be out which is not obvious unless you pump the coil. " JP The update seemed to make the detector more stabalized with the semi auto mode in my opinion, as that is what I always use, but I notice it still drifts a little, I will have to rebalance with ferrite maybe every 2-3 hours. But it could just be different soil conditions, EMI (which I notice increases during the day), Saturation, Pick, Coil not moving, blah, blah blah, who Knows for sure ???? I get like you, more confused, as more things are introduced.... One thing I was experiencing a lot on the Yellow T-130 ferrite ring, was it would still sound off a little when balancing to it (It would not dissipate out all the ferrite noise) , then I moved to another Ferrite that was in Minelabs specs, and it works great so far. Just personal experiences, Im sharing...
