It is gold mode i have been using. I am also in the uk. Recovery speed at 5. Tracking off. Iron bias is 1. I think my threshold is at 3. I dig everything above an id of 2. These settings were recommended to me and seem to work very well.

I'll need to give the tape a try although I will send it back for repair at some point. Just got permission for several fields so tape will have to do for the moment. Got my 800 beginning of July and had maybe 20 days use out of it before the twisting started. I'd read about this problem previously but didn't realise how annoying the twisting is.

Just registered but have been browsing these forums for quite a while and it has helped me a lot. Only started detecting a year ago with a Garrett Euroace and I've really enjoyed my new hobby. Just recently decided to upgrade and I've ordered an Equinox 800. I'm looking forward to it arriving and then putting into practice what I've learned here.
