  1. LOL - Bet you thought it was a ship wreck at first..... Like summit out the twilight zone ? Andy.
  2. Good question IMO. Well ive learned that the pesky ring pulls ring in at 15. Although ive had different varieties at 14 and 16. Which is a bugger, cus silver Half crowns come in at 16. I like the advice another forum member gave, which i can relate to, which is non-coins/junk and ring-pulls have a tendency to have an elongated tone to them. Coins are very sweet (Blip ... Blip). Mostly though i go by gut feeling. Although if i have plenty of time, i'll dig the odd bad signal just to confirm to myself i had it right. At the start of using the noxy, i'd say dig it all. Its the only way to learn. Cheers, Andy.
  3. Lovely! Great finds. The oldest coin ive found to date (No pun intended LOL) Is an 1820 silver. Nice1 FT
  4. Well done matey. Any pictures available please. Thanks, Andy.
  5. Hya RM Already done, it back for a refund a few days ago. When the lady asked if i wanted to exchange it for another, i couldn't help feeling ill ? It was that bad of a product. However the Garmin Montana is frickin awesome! Logging finds, attaching a picture of said find, and establishing search patterns is a godsend. Every detectorist should have one IMO. Andy,
  6. .......... The Ordnance Survey TRAIL Here's what i found: 1. Software is utter useless tosh! Error messages, jerky movements, sluggish. Im tech savvy - But this thing takes a computer programmer to operate. 2. The touch screen doesnt react. There made to last and take knocks, but still you cant move the screen to look at your maps. 3. Mine turned up faulty with rubber joystick not allowing me to look left. 4. Price is stupendously high for a piece of poo. 5. Signal takes an age and a half to lock on. 6. WIFI takes an age to sync, other times it never will. (That was the last straw). 7. Compass is the worst i have ever used. Never, even after calibration does it show a true heading. Spoke to customer service and they said there not too reliable. Hang on ..... Dont I rely on the compass to find my way around on foot?? He sounded confused ... and again this was the last straw. And so...... I now have the Garmin Montana 680. AND ..... Its bloody brilliant. Review to follow ? Andy.
  7. Howdy Chaps, I always use the hinge method as to keep the root system connected. And make an effort to "appear" respectful as well as actually "being" respectful. I've had permissions that have lead into further access just by making the extra effort in regards to taking care of peoples land. P.S - Nice pics and coins Forever-T . Andy.
  8. Hello Gerry, Your comments make a lot of sense to me. And you are so right ... in that all different gold coins, rings etc ... will all ping differently based on the sheer numbers and varieties out there. A lot of quality info there, so really appreciate your input! From now on, ill eat my spinach and get digging pretty much everything that sounds/looks/feels good ? Really appreciate your post Gerry, it confirmed what ive thought myself in moments of deep "pre-detecting" contemplation. Its always nice to get confirmation of ones own thoughts and insight from someone who's more knowledgeable. Oh and indeed, photo's will follow (shortly) of those pesky sovereigns ? Cheers Buddy! Andy.
  9. Speaking from, experience, your going to LOVE it ?
  10. I was an Uber fan of Park 2. I used it everywhere, but lately ive switched to Field 2 - sens 19 - Recovery 4 - Iron Bias 0, and I set up High tones at 20 + VDI. Lately using Field 2, it has been producing loads of good finds, seems less chirpy and has a cleaner feel to it than Park 2. Im also now considering using gold 1 or 2 for a park im hitting, where i need that extra depth. In tests in my garden (again doesnt mean much if you move to another location) Gold mode has provided me the most depth, but as you say GB, Its all about soil types and local conditions. A youtube video showing settings is almost useless, as its location that determines your settings. Learning more, each and every day! Andy.
  11. Hheheheee .... Agreed. For Nostalgic reasons though and for a good chuckle, i would love to see its performance. Personally if i had that little beauty, id start a whole new thread on the thing, including some well documented info + photos etc (much like your recent post) Then after that, I'd put it on display in my house ?
  12. Oh boy' o boy'.... how technology moves forward! All that tech, now in a tiny and lightweight Nox. Astonishing!
  13. Howdy TK, Awesome!! Now thats something i'd love to find in an attic, or a garden sale!! I wonder how well it works. Are you planning on testing it out? I'd be mega interested in its capabilities and depth limits!
  14. Spot on mate. An international gang of decent, passionate , knowledgeable and interesting detectorists so we are, and I agree fully ... we have a great forum here, i'm enjoying it immensely. Thanks for the luck JW, I'm going out sweeping in about 3 hours, hitting a spot that has brought out 8 silvers so far, so your luck is appreciated! As a horrible fast food chain would say ...." I'm Loving it" ? Andy.
  15. Great input chaps. All great advice, and i do mean all of it. This forum is a wealth of detecting knowledge. Always learn something new on here, much appreciated. Andy.
  16. Good hunting buddy. Its a silver monster is the equinox! Over 19 and ... BAM!!! SILVER!!!!!! Just have to watch out for the modern pennies at 23-24 and the two pence piece at 27-28. However silver 9 times out of ten, does a triple VDI, like 19-20-21. Nice to see others loving the foxy too ?
  17. Hi Tometusns, Good to hear its hitting 7 inch'ers. Ive got to grab one, because in some area's there are coins very close to each other, and when that occurs, it messes with the VDI's terribly and gives unpredictable digs, usually resulting in 2 bits of tin and foil creating a juicy looking 19 VDI ... Arrrghhhh!!. Just waiting for them to land in the UK now. Shouldn't be too long as a dealer the other week said he was expecting them in on Thursday (of last week)! Thanks for your input so far, it is appreciated.
  18. Any info on the depth capabilities please? Cheers. Andy.
  19. Hello and welcome Bob'ke, Im fairly new to the forum too. Its a great forum, great chat, good advice and a fun place to be. Speak soon matey! Andy (UK).
  20. Yes indeed, the ring-pulls have exactly that! an "elongated" tone. Cheers - Now i know i'm not imagining it.
  21. Hya NSC, Good to meet ya! Mega appreciate that bud, thanks. Only bugger with that 15 VDI then, is that its in Ring-pull territory. LOL - But of course Who says a sovereign would come cheap ? P.S: Sorry, i forgot about our Aussy friends having pretty much similar coinage. My bad and thanks again ? Cheers Guys!
  22. Its a long shot granted ? From what ive researched, its been a bit of everything. From Roman to medieval to Victorian. Just out of interest Nuke, what would you expect the sovs to VDI at.
  23. Yeah i agree. But i have hope. I found a site where in 1 day, i pulled 8 silvers. Shillings (1800's) Half crown and sixpence's (All 1800's except a few 1940's sixpences). I set the nox to squeal on my silver numbers. Needless to say i cleaned up nicely. If those gorgeous little buggers are in-land, they will be there ?
