Wwi Widows & Mothers Pilgrimage Medallion
strick replied to MD4V.org's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Great story and a wonderful idea...I remember one old chopper pilot from the Vietnam conflict that loved detecting...it's a great hobby for anyone that wants to clear their head and forget anything for a bit.... including the time of day. strick -
Fun read so far...the Russian video speculation was my favorite lol... seems right on track...I'll say one thing..It's gonna have to be one hell of a detector for me to jump on board...curiously watching strick

60 Years Ago Today - The Great Alaska Earthquake
strick replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
It's hard to imagine an earth quake of that magnitude lasting 4 minutes and 30 seconds..what a ride that must have been. In 1989 was an undergrad studying in a library (the quietest of all places) when the Loma Prieta earth quake occurred...and like you mentioned you could hear the rumbling coming before you could actually feel the quake..that one was only 6.9 and it only lasted less then 30 seconds so a 9.2 of over 4 minutes...crazy stuff... strick -
This apparatus goes under several names detecting pal..detecting pro. Serious detecting has them as well as Amazon...I use one when beach detecting with various machines....allows you to let go of the detector when retrieving the target as well as relieving the pressure on your arm and shoulder. I have fused vertebrae in my neck and it does not aggravate it what so ever...Have not used it however with the 7000. use the minelab harness for that or go buck naked.. strick

You should have no trouble telling target size with the M-Core after some use...small items that are deep esp aluminum will sound faint..like mentioned above by Okara I don't spend too much time looking for the micro targets...push it around a few times if it don't reveal itself the hell with it...How many big diamond earrings are actually real? none that I have found.... and what is a small diamond earring really worth...not worth the time for me personally I'd rather spend it looking for gold rings.. strick

Thank You Minelab For The Manticore
strick replied to Jeff McClendon's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
Nice work Jeff. As you know I jumped on the M-Core early...I had been waiting for a faster and lighter CTX for a long time. Here in the east bay we have mostly modern parks so I'm looking for gold and silver jewelry only. This post made go back and look at the early threds I started... "a stroll in the park" and 'M-Core in nails" by my third hunt I realized the machine was deeper then the Nox 800 and said so in one of my posts. It was fun going back and re reading those threds.. the iron falsing thing and all the talk about it... I'm still on the fence about doing the up date as I'm still using the machine as it came out of the box and doing well with it.. I have one fresh water trashy black sand beach on the delta where it gives me fits... seems that it doesn't matter which program I try...the deus 2 is actually easier to use there. I will probably try the up date soon just so I can see if it will work on that particular spot now that I have the small coil. The equinox actually worked great there but you dug a lot of bottle caps. The dealer I got the m8 coil from said he thought the up date was a good thing... In my opinion machine is a park hunters and salt water beach hunters dream..once you learn how to use it. strick -
Yes Goldseeker is a member here and posts often...he has a thred right below this one at the moment strick

M-core M8 Coil Draws Blood On First Hunt
strick replied to strick's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
I knew what you meant Mitchell But for a second I thought maybe you had acquired a M-Core... been on a couple more quick hunts...a few silver jewelry items but no gold yet...still struggling to get out...I need to change that.. strick -
Minelab makes a 6" round for the CTX and Coiltek makes a 5x10... I have both... so not sure what you are getting at with the comment on the CTX but I do agree it would be nice to have a 6" round for the M-Core as well.. strick
-
I sent my first 11 round back to them and they replaced it but said that they could not find anything wrong with it...then a few months later came the admission of the speaker interference which most likely was the whole problem after all...back to minelab the machine went...since that fix its a dream machine to run the only problem is I've not picked up the ZED since... strick

I drive it slow and steady...rarely over 22 sens but thats me in my areas...really depends on the ground conditions, emi in the area etc... strick

yep people will just use the coil that works best...then the warranty will run out 🙂 nice way to treat your clients Minelab...I'm unlikely ever to use the 3 minelab coils I have for the 6k and was thinking that I should clean out the closet the other day..lol strick

Thanks for the graph..I used to think the numbers were just doubled for the M-Core say a 15 on the 800 would be a 30 on the m-core but looks like the split starts to happen at around 20 and 10 lines for both machines...I wonder if this divergence was intentional (by the engineers) or is this just the way the physics works out? strick

Good stuff as usual 350...that buckle is amazing and would have made my day.....whats with the roman soldiers helmet on the dues 2 ? strick
