He was mocking the head engineer a lot in that video... But he did and quickly...like in one day. Wonder what they told him then? 🙂 strick

This is something that I have noticed in a couple areas where EMI was bad. The machine will run quieter but not detect better. Kind like it gets dummed down with the long press... other times (Most) the long press seems to really help the machine. I was going to start a thred about this but did not know how to title it. I think you are on to something here. So far in most of the places I've used it I really like the machine. Salt water beach at the ocean it's a gem. Fresh water black sand beach full of bottle caps I need to test it more as I was digging more caps then I liked to. Parks round here it's a real treat as I dig no caps to speak of and it gets great depth and separation...cant wait for the small coil. Relic spots here in my lower bay area foot hills it's working good for me as well...I still have not had time to make a trip into the Sierra Nevada hills where the ground is much hotter. I couldn't care less about using it for tiny gold nugget hunting (have other machines that can do that) but I do want to use it to sniff out gold jewelry and I'm still on the fence about it for that...The machine is weighted for coin hunting... thats quickly apparent after several uses. strick

Thanks Brad Yea it's not s simple as just looking at the GB numbers...I wish I could get Goldbrick out of retirement he was my hunting buddy but now has other interests...he knew his deus as good or better then anyone. strick

Are The Minelab Manticore Users Just Beta Testers?
strick replied to George Kinsey's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
I hear you on this but it's it's impossible for any company to test their machines out extensively in all the different places in the world with different types of varying ground conditions etc.....therefore the need for an up date once in a while...but yea I'm kinda tired of hearing people say they need to do an up date to fix this. strick -
I thought you had them set up fairly...neither the Deus nor the Manticore were in their Pitch/Deep audio modes. I'll admit I'm a Minelab fan boy but I'll buy any detector that gives me an advantage...just plugged in my Deus 2 to the charger...took a few minutes to get it to connect properly 😁 Good videos keep em coming. strick

He was also a gold miner... @klunker learned me that one. 🙂 strick -
When hunting in all metal the red like and small grunting will occur in mineralized ground...don't confuse that with a ferrous object. So most likely you are hearing the ground. Over here in Calif when I'm hunting in all metal its constantly grunting due to the ground conditions...A ferrous object will be a larger/louder grunt.. no mistaking that. Yesterday I dug a dime about 10 inches in depth and I was getting ferrous grunts and I said to myself lets see if this is a nail...the target was a perfect on the non ferrous line and read 89..nope it was a dime and I seen at least 2 nails come out of the hole while I was digging. I don't usually pay that much attention to the shape of the target trace but thats just me...the oniy thing I do is quickly look at where the target trace is in relation to the center line. But maybe some of you guys that like to analyze stuff can teach me something about that later on when the machine has more time on it. strick

So The Beach Hunts Start Again
strick replied to schoolofhardNox's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Nice work there Nox...I could tell by the photos right away that you were using the M-Core before I even read about your hunt. I've been using the M-Core exclusively except for a brief stint this morning at a nail infested hotel site. The M-Core is geared more toward coins then any other detector I've ever used. It bangs hard on all of them including nickels which I'm a bit surprised you did not bother with as they usually hit well in the 26-28 range where I hunt...I've been digging an averge of 12-15 per hunt in my clad infested parks...hoping for gold ring....that said gold rings I'm not so sure yet if it hits as well as the Nox but on coins it's a no brainer the M-Core is leaps and bounds above the Nox....there I said it 😜 strick -

Really nice find...notching to 50 is a good bet. I got a little gold ring (under 2 grams) with the deus 2 this summer that was a 48. I'll have to start using the Deus 2 in some parks it seems (if I can put down the Manticore) . Thanks for posting such a nice find...how much did it weigh? strick

I think this was the original iron falsing thread that came out due to his video. And it has kind of morphed in and out of taking jabs at several of the Youtubers that were booted from here for behavior issues..But the topic is a good one and I am now in a position where I can sit back and see what other guys are experiencing as only a couple of us had the the machine in the beginning. I received my machine about a week before calabash got his I was like wait a minute that’s not happening with me. But it’s probably best if this thred moved off into internet outer space at this point as it’s jumped back and forth so much moving from the topic to taking jabs... strick

I like oId Calabash and I've given him my opinions on his youtube channel...and I really appreciate anyone that takes all that time to make these videos (helps me to doze in the middle of the night) But if your gonna make a video and go public with it then I reserve the right to comment on the video as I please when I please. I try to abide by the rules on this forum and sometimes may push the boundaries...but on youtube it's open season all year with no bag limit. 🙂 strick

Anyone Using The Nemo Blu3 Portable Dive System?
strick replied to AlbyM's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I may give the Blue Nemo another shot this summer...it sure worked nice when it did and it's easy to tote around for shallow water hunting...I was really disappointed that it broke so quickly...there is another gentleman on another site that I have been talking with and he has only had to send his in once for repairs in about 3 years of use...sounds like the company backs their product... strick -

New To Detecting, Question About 1 And 2 On Vdi
strick replied to Gary985112's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
The detector sees the links on a chain as individuals not as one big piece of gold. Often they are too small to detect Plus gold is a lower conductor which makes it even harder.. When you are digging gold chains you are more often then not hearing the more solid metal clasp rather then the links of the chain...so yea your gonna want to be digging ones and twos if your looking for chains. Strick -
I'll be the first to call BS......Target number 6 (2 euro) the guy when using the Manticore on the first swing identifies it as a coin tone then he quickly disks it out and puts it down for mostly iron tone. He gives the legend a check for identifying correctly as a coin and the manticore an X for identifying it as iron WFT? Targets 11, 12 and 14 the piece of iron the horse shoe and big flat plate are easily identified in the screen of the manticore as being iron.. neither hit in the good zone and the targets give complete iron audio grunts...The only one I would have given the manticore a bad mark on was target 13...He is comparing 3 machines that give tone and a VID to another machine that gives tone/vid and target trace yet in the comparison he is only judging by the audio/tones on the machines...not a good study.. strick

GPX 6000 Speaker Audio Feedback Fix - My Experience
strick replied to Dutchman4's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Mine's been to that repair shop twice. The first time was a couple months before they released that report in Australia. The repair shop said they could not find anything wrong with the machine but replaced my coil out of precaution anyways. The second time I just shipped in the control box in right after the report came out. I've probably sent in 7-8 detectors to the repair shop. They always do a great job. My best experience with the minelab repair shop was when I sent in my 2300 with only 6 months left on the warranty and they sent me a brand new machine. Still have not had a chance to test my updated 6000 out except in my yard so the jury is still out for me but I'm very happy to here that it has worked well for some of you. Quote from the Minelab report "Minelab has identified infrequent cases where users hear audio feedback when using the internal speaker." My machine was acting crazy with and without the speaker..I like to use my headphones so I'm hopeful that it fixes the emi thing as well... strick
