Welcome to the forum. The SDC is my favorite. Sometimes I can locate a small nugget with the 7000 then I loose it in the pile. I keep the 2300 close by so I can retrieve it.

Denio is some remote and beautiful country. Was there 20 some odd years ago. Good hunting to you.

A portable rechargeable jump starter is a good idea.
I got one of these at wally world. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-Electric-6-in-1-Jump-Starter/25955544
Use it to charge the batteries on the cell phones and detectors. Works great and lasts 3-4 days on one charge.

Theres a lot of stuff.... but for starting a fire out in the bush an emergency flare in your day pack will get you through a cold night.

The key is to hit fast and hit hard. Buy 7-8 detectors all at once so as to confuse and bewilder her. When you get to a certain volume all she knows is that you have lots of detectors......Then you can buy and sell at will.

Thanks Dale for that. I always enjoy your expeditions. What type/brand of head phones are you using? The ones that can fit under your hat? I'm looking for something like that.

What a hoot! Strick was so afraid of bears he brought a professional bear hunter and pure bred, vicious, bear hound with him.
So let's do some math. Five nuggets in about an hour and he intends to spend 4 days there. That's 96 hours X 5 = 480 nuggets! If he adds Lisa to the mix that's several times 480. Those claims will be shot.
S.Scott- We need to do something - Fast.
Norm, I'd be happy with another 5 small ones. On my last trip to Nevada I only managed 5 little ones in 3 days of hunting! BTW The gold in your neck of the woods is much brighter then the stuff from Nevada. Must be the altitude? At any rate your hospitality will not go unnoticed by the gold gods. I think I see a very large nugget in your future
Thanks again....strick

Headed up to the high sierras on Friday for quick one day recon mission. I wish I could have spent at least 3-4 days up there. Hopfully in the next few weeks that will happen. Beautiful country. The amount of work that the old timers did is amazing. Boulders stacked 15 feet high. And trenches 15 feet deep. What a way to make a living. We have it so easy now a days. Makes you wonder what the gold was like back then. Were there 5 gallon buckets to throw it in?
Got the meet the legendary Klunker finally. Thanks Norm for taking the time to drive up and meet with us and show us where the claims are. Your Bernese Mountain dog is a compliment to your good looks.

Rick- Nice treds. Those are the same ones that I have on my work truck. When I see that 10 mile long dust trail out in the desert I'll know it was you and be on your heels!
Don't throw away those old boots. Ever since I forgot to bring my boots on that trip to Nevada I now keep a spare set on top of the spare tire that sits under the truck bed.

Thanks fellas I've got the harness but not the hip stick. That's next on the list. Have the big coil for a while now but hardly used it much. I've got some soccer fields that I'd like to try the big coil on. Looking forward to more pics.

Nice Ring. Do you wear a harness while swinging that big coil or just man up and swing without? I wish I had a good beach close to were I live.

Chris- Would love to pick your and Steve's brain some day. Hello and a hand shake was good enough for me. I was surprised to see you guys there as I did not know you were coming.
Jerry- Nice pictures! She saw your face book post as well. Thanks for all the help up there in Nevada. She carries her test nugget with her now. You and your staff have shortened the learning curve for Lisa and myself immensely. Had we tried this alone we would be still looking for our first nuggets.

Hey Lunk nice work. If you can find stuff that small with the ZED your doing something right. Hopefully you left a few in Nevada for us "would be wanna be" nugget hunters.

Thanks Fellas or the kudos. We are both still new to this so every piece we get even though they are just pickers is exciting. The gold bug 2 is the perfect machine for the ladies as it it so light and sensitive to the smallest pieces. Looking forward to further hunts and meeting all you great folks. She said that everyone was so nice that she met. I can not think of a better hobby.

Had a great time this past weekend in the Nevada desert. The weather was a bit crazy with lots of rain, some hail and a bit of snow even. A special thanks to Gerry and crew for taking the time to show Lisa how to use her Gold Bug 2. I think I'm in trouble now as she has the bug real bad. As we were leaving she said that the next time a big rain comes through we need to drop everything and run back to Nevada lol. Also thanks to Lunk for spending some time with me on the ZED settings. I even got to shake hands with Steve Herschbach and Chris Ralph! It was great meeting you guys. Wish I could have stayed around for the talk but there was no way I was going into that trailer! Lisa's nuggets are on the right.

Scott- My gun safe was getting over stocked so I sold a couple that I never use just so I would not feel so bad about buying the ZED! As long as it's in your hands and you find gold that's all that matters! Looking forward to your up dates...

Thanks for the encouragement but the not so old detector isn't working right and hasn't since I got it end of March. What I thought was EMI is really my SDC just bugging out frequently. The hour run yesterday was a test where my Dad and I swapped SDC's for an hour and ran with same settings (3/3) since we got them at the same time. Within 5 minutes we both knew something was wrong with my unit. I couldn't believe how smooth and quiet his was and he was stunned that I had previously found gold with my unit because it just won't smooth out and is very frustrating to listen to for more than a few hours. I've emailed Chris over at AZO and will be getting him the unit to verify but will probably have to ship her out to Minelab. These things happen and it it's just the nature of electronics. I'll let you know how it plays it out. Good luck and happy hunting.
I've got two SDS's and they both act differently. One runs a lot smoother then the other. I've had other guys listen to it that have SDC's to verify. Thought of sending the more frantic one in to minelab but it has found lots of nuggets so I'm just going to live with it for now simply because I don't want to be without. I'd appreciate it if you let me know what minelab says when you get it looked at.
Glad you broke the skunk Bado!
