  1. Yep I'll keep trying...hoping for a 1 dollar gold coin. Any round solid disk as big as nickel is most likely gone but a dude from Santa Rosa pulled V Nickel out with his CTX while I was there one day couple years ago. It looked like crap as most V nickels do out here.... It's a place to go 15 min from my house. I may put the big coil back on the nox and go for walk about looking for a needle in a haystack again... strick
  2. Out of likes but you're right. I think he's on friendly but my problem is I just wont give him a look after what he was doing over here. Maybe I'll get over it lol strick
  3. Yea it was in the 60's had a gray solder joint and was big he did not say how many grams? I did not watch the whole thing. But it makes sense to ring in the zinc penny range like it did given those factors. strick
  4. Looking at the gold coins I'm thinking I need to dig everything from 18-80 if I want to find another lol. I've found that the M-Core does not really lock on anything unless its on the surface at least in my ground here in N. Calif.....there is a range of about 2-3 points depending on depth and if there is ferrous around it all bets are off it might start as a 60 when its an 88 out of the ground. I was hoping someone had done the gold coin testing but all it really says is just keep digging everything that hits good. strick
  5. The next level would be one or two silver coins maybe hidden in the nails or at depth...unlikely but maybe a gold coin could be there so I'll keep going. It's a tough hunt but there are still lots of mid conductors in areas to be sniffed out. ...some of the bigger stuff came from the old house up front including the long handled spoon. Still have some time left I found out. strick
  6. The 20 ga caps were reading high 20's low 30's the 12 ga low mid 40's I'm finding the Manticore likes to call a lot of mid conductors 25-29 (modern nickel range) I air tested a buffalo I had handy the other day and I think it was a below 25 but cant remember exactly. I can say with certainty that the M-core hits those flat brass rivets better then the Nox 800 did. They will sound like a dime if they are perfectly flat. I was sniping them in between nails and very pleased with the depth. If there were any silver coins there and I did not expect there to be They were either too deep or I did not get the coil over it. strick
  7. I'm just an end user so you guys know more than me but I'm finding the M-core to hit really well on low and mid conductors so I'm not getting what your getting at here... strick
  8. I find it interesting that the Nox 11 inch coil is bigger compared to the Manticore 11" coil. Also the Manticore coil cable is half the dimeter of the Nox coil cable. strick
  9. Chase the spoon was about 8 inches deep and oriented up right at a steep angle. It was a tough target due to the shape. There are a lot of low to mid conductive targets in the area... shot gun caps every where. I have been digging everything in this old ghost town since I started going there in the hopes of a small gold coin. I walked over that spoon with the Nox Deus Ctx and have had other guys here that were experienced walk over it with theirs like @Cal_Cobra but for some reason the Manticore said to dig... it but it's probably just that I have new toy and am moving about slowly and learning how to use it. I really want that small coil. The third pic down was a very deep washer...about 10 feet from the spoon. It really started singing in the hi 80's as I was getting closer to it...I asked the lord to please not let it be another rivet..and he listened lol. had to work all day yesterday so did not get to detect and found myself thinking about the Manticore in the middle of the night...it's like a cute girl with an ugly name 🙂 The site is late 1800's strick
  10. Honestly I don’t know how anyone can run their detector without ground balancing it. I find myself doing it very often during a hunt, the machine runs much smother. In places where the soil is super hot I’ll just put it in tracking as it’s pointless to gb evert 10 feet. When hunting in nails I just try to find a clear spot sometimes it’s only barely bigger then the coil. Strick
  11. Just a quick post gotta head out the door I'll answer questions later. I hit an old ghost town yesterday and an old homesite...carpets of nails and big iron everywhere. See those little rivets...most of those were dug in high iron (nail bed areas)..and they were deep... as the area has been hit hard with Deus/Nox etc..yes the Manticore is sensitive and will false but those that have used the Nox 800 in relic sites will have no problems...I only dug a couple nails and could have quit early as I had a feeling while I was digging them. There are large items in the photos as I'm still learning the machine and dig most targets that read non-ferrous. The button was the only good find and it was broken 🙄 strick
  12. Yes it does seem to help a little more when one press isn't enough. strick
  13. They made them long so they have more flex so the dummies that over tighten their coils wont break them as easily 🙂 But yea they look kinda long. That plastic is very flexible... to be seen how the set up lasts for prolonged water use. strick
  14. So far I would say that the Manticore is better then the equinox 800 but still sensitive to emi. I've had a couple places where noise canceling did not work where I suspect underground lines. In those areas I had to turn the sensitivity down to 20 and still some chatter was present. Interesting thing was that yesterday I was in the hills no power lines anywhere no houses and I was still unable to get past 28 in the sensitivity without a lot of chatter. I cant speak for the 900. strick
  15. The Manticore works fine in nail beds. It’s going to be even better when the small coil becomes available. Spent most of the day hunting an old ghost town. The machine is sensitive and does false a lot but the iron audio works as it should. I hunted mostly like I would with the Nox wide open with iron audio on. When it got to be too much I’d give my ears a break by engaging the disk. You can’t make a silver coin pop out of the ground where there ain’t one like they are trying to do on YouTube. The machine is telling you it’s iron...dig it all you want and what you have in your pouch is nails. It’s kinda funny watching these you tubers who think they are the only ones who have to hunt in beds of nails...like houses only burn down where they hunt and no where else lol. Like any machine it will take time to learn... I dug some very deep small rivets today...the manticore bangs on them loud and clear. Strick
  16. I commented on his you tube channel... and was told to shut my mouth 🤣 strick
  17. yea I watched that video last night If I remember right it hit in the 60's? I kept talking to the TV... run it back over the coil so I can see the VID...makes sense as it was a big ring...a zinc penny ring. That was a long video did not watch it to the end so I don't know what he did after he found it. You wont be disappointed with the manticore. The small coil is gonna be a must have. strick
  18. Park hunt numbers 4 and 5 with the Manticore. Still no gold. Funny when you're really trying it doesn't show up. Anyways I wont be posting on this thred after this last post because theres no use in me sorting out junk any more for a photo op. Posting this last hunt just so if there are any newbies out there what you're up against if you're looking for gold rings in urban parks. On this last hunt yesterday morning I was at a ball field and got a couple deep bigger high conductors...was thinking maybe an old house used to sit there because I found an old belt buckle with some engravings on it...kinda cool I'm gonna hit a relic spot full of nails this week if I get time and get away from the aluminum for a bit. strick
  19. After digging many Lincoln memorials and clad dimes now I'm gonna say no. The numbers are close together plus the Manticore numbers like to jump around here...but this in my dirt...if you find out otherwise please let me know. strick
  20. Yea I gotta quit watching his videos. He Poo pooed the ctx here a long time ago without ever owning one. He found one earring back on the beach and started calling the deus 2 a micro jewelry machine..I guess nail falsing is a new discovery now 😁 strick
  21. I'm not retired yet...so as long as I'm working I figure that I can afford it lol...but that being said I'm slowing down with working and hope to get into full time detecting at some point soon. 😄 @klunker are you listening? strick
  22. Exactly and as to the other guys who prepaid on their orders.... I would not work with a dealer that requires that. strick
